Both are related to the sea and the pleasant things we can do with it. Houkago Teibou Nisshi is more about fishing from the shore and Amanchu about diving among the fish, but both show the beauty of the marine world and respect for them. Also the two main heroines (both arrived in a new place) overcome their fears to enjoy their new hobby (with their new friends).
