Shugo Chara!

Both series are a happy-go-lucky, episodic magical girl type series. Both are about a girl around the same age with a magical helper and a quest to collect something. It's been said by everyone who does this recommendation!

Both of them are targeted towards a younger audience with the main character being in elementary school. Also in every episode of CCS (aside from the few fillers) there is a card that is captured (transformed in season 2). In Shugo Chara, there is almost always an X Egg that gets fixed. Aside from that Sakura and Amu's personalities are fairly similar, although Amu's reactions are more extreme than Sakura's sometimes.

The essence of both animes are the same.  They take place within the same magical girl genre, and they involve protagonists at a similar age and both even have their own little cute mascot sidekicks, in their respective forms.  The story lines are also similar where, for one, the goal is to capture cards, and the other is to capture eggs (in a manner of speaking).  Both animes have wonderful personalities for the heroine, and have their own unique individual charm - so I would recommend them both!

Shugo Chara! is really commonly compared to CardCapor Sakura. They're both magical girl series and the characters are roughly around the same age. But what's really similar is the complicated and unique romances taking place around the series. Nadeshiko is really easily compared to Tomoyo. Amu's two main love interests are a boy her own age and a boy older than her. It's pretty easy so see the similarities.

Pretty much everyone I know that likes one series, likes the other as well.

the same kind of episodic magical happy-happy girl anime, where this is a concept (CSS: collecting more more cards & shugo chara: cleansing heart eggs). every episode contains humour action, good morals etc like any other magical girl anime, but both done to a brilliant standard

Are you looking for something cute and fluffy? Both of these series are just that, but feature a main protagonist with a lot of spunk even if one of them might not agree that is the case, who are in turn dragged into situations that are delightfully magical yet also over their heads in regards to expectations. The trouble they find themselves in changes from day to day as a new adventure, or misadventure awaits them.

Both are about magical girls and how they fight evil to restore goodness. The characters are also very cute, but Shugo Chara's story line is more childish than CC Sakura's.

First and foremost, both fall under the catergory of mahou-shoujo genre (magical girl genre)
Part of this is their transformation..
Sakura and Amu are elementary students. And their schools are always the target of the villains.
Both surrounded by bishies. ^^
Both anime will give you a childish feeling at first but will change later on..

Both of these shows are "magical girl" type shows. Cardcaptor sakura is the better of the two in my opinion. Shugo Chara! can get really repetitive sometimes...though if you like the genre then you might be ok with it

 Cardcaptor Sakura and Shugo Chara are really similar. They both have the same kind of plot: Sealing either eggs or cards to make sure that the world is safe. They both have romance. Although, I must admit that in my opinion, Cardcaptor Sakura is better. But if it's the art, then Shugo Chara would win.

Want magic? Want comedy? Want drama? Want romance? Well, both these series might answer your wishes.

Both series fits with the typical magical girl genre with both the main protagonists changing costumes/battle gear constantly to solve problems and battle against what they believe is right. 

There is plenty of character development for the supporting cast as well as the main cast and as episodes progresses, love complications becomes part of the angles as well.

Both have a young, female protagonist that uses magic to protect her friends while going to school. Both are set in a similar environment with a similar age group and positive message. Both anime are very relaxing to watch with likeable characters.

Both about a girl having a second life collecting something. In cardcaptor, sakura's role is to collect clow cards while in shugo chara, amu must collect eggs.

Both involve love triangles, magical girls, collecting magical/destructive things (eggs/cards), guardians, and have a similar emphasis on friend/family relationships and both just have a similar vibe in general. Also, Cardcaptor Sakura has one of the most ADORABLE romances I have ever seen and Ikuto and Amu in Shugo Chara are really cute too.

Both of these have magic in it with comedy, a plot that's pretty easy to follow although in Shugo Chara! the love triangle is a much more visible than the one in Cardcaptor.

When i watched Shugo Chara, it reminded me YP greatly! 1. bishonen, reverse harem 2. little cute pocket boys and girls ^^! 3. character design and the colours are very alike 4. Shugo Chara also has a cooking topic, and a patissiere episode! in this ep i couldn't help but think "i want moooar YP" 5. friendship, teamwork, and stories about helping people in different situations with you tomodachi
6. Hanabusa Aido is similar to Tadase, and Andou is a bit like Sanjou Kairi

Yumeiro Patissiere is similar to Shugo Chara because both animes have a small character spirit thing with the main characters. They are both shojo-like and has something supernatural in the show. In addition the main characters are both sanguine, persevering, determined, and rather cute!

Both are mostly directed for children - but still manages to keep it mature enough that teenagers, and maybe even grown-ups, can enjoy it.
They also have these "things" (I have no idea what to call them); Sweet spirits and chara's! Only the people with sweet spirits or charas can see and hear them. Although Shugo Chara is a magical girl anime and Yumeiro Patissiere is not, they give off the same feeling when watching.

Both anime are drawn similar. The heroine is a clumsy, cute girl and all bishounen want her, but of course she chooses the `best`. Also in both of the anime are these spirits or charas :D

Both shows revolve around the Idea of dreams and growing up. they also have some hilarious humor (as well as Hot guys for all you fan girls), both also have great romance scenes.

Both animes focus on girls who want to find their 'would-be' selves. After finding their 'would-be' selves, they want to improve. Both are also in the 'elite' group in their schools. They even have little spirits that help them.

Similar theme and style with both involving romance, love trials, and fantasy. Storyline gets extensive as the episodes drags and the main girl deals with many problems with the help of her friends. Both seeks to find their own self and accomplish their goals: one dedicated to helping others while the other tries to become a professional cook.

Well, they both have things following them around (Shugo Chara: Charas, Yumeiro: Sweets Spirits) and if you consider the Guardians team mates, then it's similar that way too.

Both have girls starting out at a new school, and get immediately pulled into the most popular group (in SC the guardians, in YP the top chef people). Both girls don't realize why they are there at first, but it's because they have relations to little fairy characters, except in Shugo Chara, the guardians want her in the group, but she doesn't, and in Yumeiro Patissiere, it was up to the teachers.
The fairy characters both help the main girl with abilities that she wouldn't normally have, but as it goes on, she gets better at them on her own.
Both are reverse harem and have strong friendships and trust things going on. read more

Shugo Chara is a lot like Yumeiro Patissiere. First off is the little characters. In Yumeiro Patissiere, Ichigo has Vinilla and Amu has Ran, Miki, and Su. The people the girls hang out with are very popular people. The romance is cute! Same with the characters. Both anime have the same feel to them. I watched both series and they are really great. I would suggest you watch both of them!

In both anime are both for children and have similarities of having a mini spirit. In Shugo Chara, Amu wishes to become herself or i should say her real personality, to be able to have courage of showing her true emotion. In Yumeiro Patissiere, Ichigo wanted to become a good patissiere to make the people who eat her sweet to smile. Also, in both anime they have a fall in love with the bad/mean yet sometimes nice. Furthermore, Ichigo's sweet spirit and Amu's 4 guarding spirit help them to reach their dream/wishes they made.

Both feature protagonists that have pink hair for starters. Each anime has a set of characters who transform with some sort of magic power they have. The characters are particularly younger and are involved with some sort of 'club'.
The antagonists in both are trying to find some sort of secret power that seems to take forever to find.
Also, the main character (being female) seems to have many male characters falling in love with them, be it a good guy, a bad guy or an antihero.

My first reccomendation.. 

Both shows have a main female heroine with pink hair. The main girl has a crush in the beginning, but then they both start to fall for the enemy. In both shows they run around try to save stuff. Both shows have character transformations that take long periods of time. Only real difference is I think Shugo Chara is drawn better and aimed for viewers a few years older than Tokyo Mew Mew.

It´s very similair to the story. The cute oufits and magic powers are very similair to Tokyo Mew Mew. Also about destroying your inner bad person  is also something that is very common i Tokyo Mew Mew!

Both are magical girl animes, the colors of the outfits of the girls are almost the same, the main characters (Amu and Ichigo) are both pink-haired girls, and both have a lot of boys who are loving them... There are a lot of other similarities...

I think that Tokyo mew mew and Shugo chara is VERY similar, you'll see. But personaly I prefer Shugo chara, because I find the plot more interesting and art is better. Especially I like the relationship between Amu and Ikuto.

Tokyo Mew Mew has super powers, just like Shugo Chara. Although TMM doesn't have guardian characters they have power pendants. They both have alot of romance. I would say that shugo chara is newer. They both have over the standard 25/26 episodes. Both plots aim in protecting the people around them. They both have that loveable character who enjoys teasing the main character.
They are quite alike, i loved them both

Both revolve around a young girl that finds out that she can transform- in Shugo Chara!, the characters turn into their 'would be selves' while in Kamichama Karin, they turn into gods/ goddesses. Both series's have romance and a bit of action.

For starters, both series are animated by the same company, and therefore have a similar almost gothic feel to them (though Kamichama Karin is darker). Both shows are in the magical girl genre and revolve around young girls learning about themselves through the use of magic, plus there's some romance as well.

Both animes have powers in them. Also, love triangles.
In shugo chara, Amu likes Tadase, then again, she likes Ikuto too! But it's hard for her to decide, when they are both crushing on Amu too!
In Gakuen Alice, Ruka and natsume like Mikan, but Mikan is too oblivious to their feelings, then again, she's not sure if she should like them or not!
In Shugo Chara and Gakuen Alice, Tadase and Ikuto were both childhood friends, and Natusme and Ruka too.

Mikan is the same as Amu. Natsume is the same as Ikuto. Luka is the same as Tadase. The relationships are basically the same thing. The love triangles are the same. And the funny moments are just too funny.

Both of the anime fall into magical/fantasy type genre. Both are hella good, but also kinda childish. I definitely recommend reading Gakuen Alice instead of watching it though because they have pretty different plots, the anime is kinda slow paced, and the anime does not have the manga's amazing ending. I definitely recommend the manga, but the anime is very relaxing and cures your depression lmfao

however, Shugo Chara is about elementary schoolers so they just have regular classes..
the garden thing is also similar..in Shugo Chara they call it the royal garden.

Both are shoujo romcoms, and focus on an elite group of students who are respected by their peers. They both spend their time drinking tea and eating cake in a giant greenhouse. 

Differences: Special A features older students (I think?), and their relationships actually establish. Oh, and Special A doesn't have any magical elements, except for people jumping rediculously high.

Exclusive groups of kids who sit in a garden and have tea parties. The Guardians in Shugo Chara have 5 people, including Amu, while Special A has 7, but both groups are highly respected in the school. There are lots of relationships going on between group members.
Special A is high school, while Shugo Chara is in elementary school.

It's similar to Special A because Special A is a group. Only 7 people can be in Special A. And in Shugo Chara, they have the Guardians as their group. There can only be a King's chair, a Queen's chair, a Jacks chair, an Ace's chair, and in addition, a Joker's chair. Both of these groups also get extra privileges.

Similar anime transformation sequences every time, ''fighting'' style is the same as well. i.e. they use cute stuff!!!
The story is simple and basic, both main lead characters have a guy they like, but cant do anything about it yet on the normal side, but more complicated on their ''powers side'', i.e. the reason they have to transform and fight! Both seem somewhat shy.
Each episode usually has ''enemy'' to defeat as well as story progress. i.e. not just bullshit fighting!

Both Shugo Chara! and Fruits Basket have a lot of comedy based upon characters making unusual transformations, but I think the biggest similiarity is in their characters. The heroine finds herself getting involved with two boys; one known at school as a prince, and the other identified as a cat. The "cat" also has a possessive relative who has romantic feelings for him.

Overall, I think if you enjoyed the light-heartedness and romance of Fruits Basket, Shugo Chara! is probably a good series to check out (both anime and manga). They also both touch upon heavy emotional themes, such as being true to one's self.

Plot is different but character development is similar in a few ways. In both you have the "wild type" girl who's really a romantic on the inside. And they even have similar hair styles. The main charactors in both series have similar points. Shugo Chara is more sweet adventure and Love Lab is more comedy. Both have funny main characters with similar personalities.

Both of these animes have magical girls in them, and can be quite dark at times. Strike that, Tutu gets very dark. Do not let the awesome ballet fool you. 
Both have rather quick transformation scenes. Tutu is really the only one who transforms, but Chara has more and does a pretty good job of condensing.

Misaka Mikoto and Hinamori Amu are girls who have quite a reputation, though Misaka is quite larger as it is in the whole city while Amu's is probably just in a district~ :3 Misaka and Amu are considered high beings to public (Misaka is ojou sama and ladylike while Amu is 'cool and spicy') They both have an outside character while Amu's is more obvious and not much know their true characters~ Their true characters that they have in common is that they're both  friendly and easy going which their close friends (Ruiko, Uiharu, Kuroko, and Touma and Amu is Guardians) know and accept their true characters. Both are very dishonest and stubborn, like the things they like (like cute things~)and especially to their crushes (Kamijou Touma and Hotori Tadase respectively). Both are also strong and have a strong sense of justice and will not back down no matter how bad the circumstances are, even if both don't even consider themselves as it.Because of their strong sense of justice, they are very kind and caring.

Amu and Misaka also have little sisters that they care and love (Ami and Imouto) and one of Misaka's sister and Amu's sister are very cute and innocent (Last Order and Ami) I forgot to add that they both wish to be more honest (Misaka is just a bit but for Amu, it's the main point of her changing).

 They both have their own matchmakers for their crushes (Nadeshiko and Ruiko) who teases them a lot and encourages them to get closer to them, and to add it, Misaka and Amu made cookies for their crushes with Nadeshiko and Ruiko (you'll see that in Railgun S) They are naturally leaders to their group (Misaka is also for society) and also the center of attention because they attain or are special. 

They both are related to cards. Amu is the guardian characters and Amu is called the Joker and Misaka is called the Ace (though Misaka is for a different reason). It is also mentioned that Amu wants to have an Ace card. 

It is also showed that they are both tsunderes as they deny a lot of things, especially their crushes which also shows the reason why they are dishonest. 
Mikoto and Amu have similar voices (many may disagree) probably because they have similar personalities. 

Extra:They also have some interest in wanting bigger chest size as they both have small chest size.

In Railgun and Shugo Chara, they have characters who is the stereotypical snobby and rich characters who thinks of themselves as true ojou samas, Kongou Mitsuko and Yamabuki Saaya. Though Mitsuko thinks of Misaka as a friend, Saaya thinks of Amu as a rival. Mitsuko also is very caring and notices about the results of her ojou sama personality and changes into a better person.

In addition, Hinamori Amu has Saten Ruiko's voice, Su has Uiharu Kazari's voice, Souma Kukai has Kamijou Touma's voice, Ran has Kazakiri Hyouka (in Index but i hope you won't mind me saying this), Musashi has Accelerator's (surprising right?) and Pepe has Tsukuyomi Komoe's voice (i would love to send you the link to all the voices~ :D)
Lastly, both animes are slice of life and a bit of school life.

I'm really sorry for this long recommendation but I really suggest watching Shugo Chara if you like Railgun~ especially if you love Misaka Mikoto or Kanae Ito (Amu's and Ruiko's voice) read more

Both have a stubborn main character with pink hair. I sont think by means of plot they are really alike, but I think that if you enjoy one you would like the other. Zero no Tsukaima is more straightforward and romantic about the character's feeling's.

Are they similar? Well, yes and no. Shugo Chara! is a fairly straight-forward magical girl series, whereas Madoka errs much darker as a deconstruction, but it just so happens that Shugo Chara! is a perfect example of the kind of series Madoka seeks to deconstruct. If you've seen Madoka, perhaps you need more standard fair to pick you up -- and if you're done with Shugo Chara!, perhaps you're interested in something that starts similar, but shows you how dark the genre can go...

Amu and Akari are kinda similar, both are actually pretty shy and insecure. Both like popular boys, and have a romance with them. The genre's of both anime's are Shoujo and Magic, and both involve school, although it's a bit different in each. Both series have magical helpers, Shugo Chara has Guardian Chara's, while Jewelpet Twinkle has partners, which are little animals. Both are great and both show the girls aiming for a goal that they eventually get in the end. I would totally watch this if you liked the other. These are both some of my favorites.

This really reminds me of how little chibi, fairy characters of 'would-be' selves are trying to make their owner's dream come true...it should also be noted that Kaleido Star provides a harsher perspective of achieving dreams whilst Shugo Chara and Amu is focussed more lightly on possible futures. Both are enjoyable - if you like one you're likely to enjoy the other!

Depending on what you like about it, if you like Shugo Chara, you may also like Persona 4! Both are about students awakening and coming to terms with a repressed side of themselves and manifesting it in the form of a guardian spirit that allows them to use special powers. They also use their power for good to help others and fight corrupted versions of people's repressed feelings

The concept of magical girls isn't new to the anime industry. As such, Shugo Chara and Fate/Kaleid brings that idea once again in these two series. 

Amu Hinamori and Illya's lives are both changed forever after one faithful day when they meet a supernatural being. They form a sort of contract/deal and now must collect/help with certain tasks. Along the way, they also form alliances with other characters while also struggling with adversaries. Through experience though, they become more skilled and in mastery of their new-found abilities. 

There is romance in both series although less so in Fate/Kaleid. The tone of both series is also lighthearted so expect recurring jokes and humor. The main female protagonist in both series are also somewhat different as Amu tends to be more of a tomboy while Illya is more of a gentle girl. However, both series follows the concept of the magical girl theme. read more

Both have Magical Girls but Shugo Chara main character has 3 separate transformations while the girls in precure have only 1 outfit, also i feel Shugo Chara is for a slightly more mature audience since 1 or 2 eps deal with gender identity.

Both anime are kid-friendly magical girl/boy shows. Brave Beats has a dance theme that goes along with it, while Shugo Chara talks about Heart's Eggs and dreams. In Shugo Chara, the antagonists corrupt people's heart's egg, while in Brave Beats, people are possessed by dance stones. The main characters in both anime have little companions that they transform with to purify the corrupted people and prevent them from causing destruction.

Well both main characters are young, a bit naive, and try to 'fit in' at school. However they both have enemies that can perform similar abilities as the main character can(ex, have dolls or guardian characters). Anyway, both protagonists have magical friends that help fighting off the bad guys that want to do harm.
It's more or so a slice of life meets magical friends with colorful magical transformation.

Synopsis:

Shugo Chara: 
-Elementary student who is trying to discover who she is
-She ends up having her 'charas' make her transform in order to fight off bad eggs
-The student council at her school fights along
-Romance is involved


Fantasista Doll:
-Main character used to be an elite card player
-Has to command these battle dolls to fight for her
-She does none of the actual fighting, except laying down trap cards

Overall both have the same feel, friendship, adventure, action, "discovering-yourself" vibes. I'm surprised it hasn't been recommended yet.
Out of the two I reccommend Shugo Chara because it has better character development, plot, understanding, and was more interesting than Fantasista Dolls has been. read more

Both of these anime are about characters who are given a power at the beginning of the series that they later learn is a distinct version of something that many people have. Over the course of their relative series they learn about new ways to use their power and how to defeat wielders of similar powers. They both have a main goal in mind, although one is internal (become more confident about being themselves) and the other is external (defeat the empire of Britannia).

Happy Seven: The TV Manga addpermalink

Both anime involve students in the same school club who are also able to transform into  magical girls/boys. In Happy Seven, the magical girls/boys defeat demons that are possessing people, while in Shugo Chara, they defeat heart's eggs that have been corrupted by bad feelings. There are romance themes in both shows, as the main characters in both shows fall for one of the magical boys. Also, both shows seem episodic at times, but have an overarching plot (Happy Seven is a lot shorter though). If you like one then I think you will like the other!

Both of the girls in this are preteens who are growing up in their own way and go through life learning to believe in theirselves, same as their friends. Their is a magic theme to both, and the art work is in each very nice, though it should be mentioned that Mahou Shoujo Tai Arusu is rather different then the norm art style wise.

Who is oneself? Both Anime explore this concept in different ways. Should one conform to what people expect from your outward appearance or should one be oneself. Both Anime featured detailed designs and a great cast of characters. Not to mention girls can be girly while being strong in their own way at the same time.

Both are great anime series featuring magical girls. 

Their main characters are not what they look like (Ink is 18 years old but looks a little younger, Amu is different from her Cool&Spicy persona) and both feature lolicon characters (Arks and Ikuto).

Those series also seems to share a part of their fandom.

-in Ouran, you really get to know the characters past their surfaces, and the same goes for Shugo Chara!
-only difference is that it's magical girl. Romance is similar though, the guys are hotttttt!!!

     Shugo Chara has the same nice romance points as Ultra Maniac, maybe not as much as it but an ample amount. Amu(Shugo Chara) is known as being cool and stylish at her school, but that isn't her true self. If you liked that concept from Ultra Maniac, i'm sure you'll love Shugo Chara).
     Shugo Chara is in the magical girl genre like Ultra Maniac. The music is really nice too. So basically, Shugo Chara isn't as serious as Ultra Maniac, but for the magical-girl/shoujo/romance lovers you'll love it. ^ ^

This occurred to me recently when I read some reviews by fanboys going on about Shugo Chara!. Both anime have their loli characters and both have the magical girl thing going (of course, in Nanoha its almost non-existent outside of the transformations). But mostly, it's the idea of, "Beat your enemy and then become friends with them" that Nanoha is famously known for, also occurring with Shugo Chara! at the end of every arc. So, if you like lolis who kick butt until their enemies become friends, Nanoha AND Shugo Chara! both deliver.

In Jewel Pet, the protagonist got a Jewel

After getting their special friend both protagonists were tasked with something important to do.

Though they are not my fav shows, i feel that they had a lot in common so if you like either one dun forget to watch the other

Ok before you call me crazy....trust me for some reason a LOT of people who like one of these like the other. They are not very similar in plot, except I guess with the love triangles you could make
Amu=Yuuki 
Tadase=Kaname 
Ikuto=Zero
Except Vampire Knight's tones are a lot darker than Shugo Chara's.

It all starts off with that one misunderstood girl, the girl that no one talks to, the girl that is always rumoured to be something they're not. No one knows the real Amu or Sawako. But their lives start to change when they  both have an encounter with the one popular guy that changes it all.

These are really different but they have one major similarity. In Shugo Chara people create those X eggs because they can't do their dreams or something like that, while in Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai II, people get loose souls because of something emotional inside them too. And it's up to the main characters to solve that.

"Bungaku Shoujo" Movie addpermalink

 Both anime have similiar, remarkably beautiful graphics. Thus peering at the characters and landscpaes of one anime will remind you of the other. Shugo Chara!. the original series initially began with light-hearded slice of life and drama scenes like the events in Bungaku Shoujo. Thus, and in other words, the stories, plot line, and illustrations are similiar.

 The compositions are similiar in the character and scenery designs as well as anime genres. Shugo Chara!'s leading episodes comprised of issues and struggles  amongst the characters which is prominent in all 3 of Bungaku Shoujo Memoire's OVAs. Amu Hinamori's tsundere personality is similiar to Nanase Kotubuki's. Utau's bangs seems quite like Miu's though their personalities stand in stark contrast. 

 Note: The Bungaku Shoujo gets darker than Shugo Chara!

Both series are works of Peach-Pit, so it can be said that they share very similar art. Although Zombie Loans is meant for more mature viewers, both focuses on characters with special power. But the power they have won't last long, as they will disappear one day.

If your favorite part of Rozen Maiden was the day in the life comedy, then you could potentially enjoy Peach Pit's other work, Shugo Chara. This show stars a young girl named Amu who, over the course of the first three episodes, manages to acquire tiny representations of various aspects of her personality, both current and potential. The show quickly starts to incorporate various magical girl genre staples, including: an evil organization bent on acquiring physical manifestations of spiritual concepts, the main character changing into various cutesy outfits; so as to be able to fire various multicolored attacks in order to defeat said organization, simultaneous crushes on both the older, aloof lone wolf pretty boy; and the younger, nice pseudo-prince pretty boy.

The important part of the show however, is the interactions between the characters and their various Charas, as well as the interactions between the Charas themselves, which are very much reminiscent of the interactions that occurred in Rozen Maiden. The only difference between the two is that Shugo Chara, unlike Rozen Maiden, has little action and almost no truly serious drama in it; no one dies, no one gets hurt beyond a few scrapes and bumps, and no one really hates anyone else.

To reiterate, if you liked the softer more comedic parts of Rozen Maiden, you'll love Shugo Chara.  read more
