Sidonia no Kishi

Both are placed in a world where humanity is in danger and need to defend themselves from this dangerous enemy who can push them to the brink of extinction. 

Shingeki no Kyojin and Sidonia no Kishi shares a common theme of revolution/warfare between humanity and a species that threatens their very existence. There is the grim reality of death that is explicitly depicted throughout the series. The main characters' survival wits are tested to their limits. And despite their sharp contrast in settings, the violence conveys their world in which only those who fights for what they believe in will survive. Expect action, discovery, and development. 

Humans has since long ago chosen to live inside a defensive barrier in order to fend off attacks from mysterious, powerful creatures that frequently attack humans. Faced with the grim reality of survival, the main characters choose to become soldiers to fight for survival.  

A group of humans in seclusion who live in fear of a powerful race of monsters that they have managed to evade for a long time, who are suddenly forced back into combat with these creatures. 

Humans gettin' boned. The only way to kill them is with a certain way; blood and gore.  

Both anime focus on the survival of humanity but in different settings. These two anime's explore the idea of co-existence with other species and have similar underlying themes. 

A lot of deaths in both anime, everyone you love will die. Sidonia no Koshi and Shingeki no Kyojin are set in a dystopian world where mankind is constantly being threatened by a seemingly more powerful race of which little is known about. Both anime also revolve around the main fighting squad against those who are threatening mankind in their respective worlds. Also, a plus to the gore fans since both anime has a lot of blood and violence here and there. If you enjoy the suspense that will leave you at the edge of your chair while watching anime then this if for you. 

Both have the same plot where humans are in a brink of extinction against an enemy of giant proportion, except in one anime the people have to do some sort of spider-man stunts in order to fight the enemy while in the other anime the people there have the technological means to fend off the enemy.  

SnK and SnK? I am seriously now confused as to which is which due to my lack of intellect and apprehension to acronyms. Aside from my unimportant observation of the alphabets, both premise involves the struggle of humanity against a foe they couldn't understand, a feeling of a conspiracy at work that may or may not have any relevance to the origin, behavior and supposed animosity of such foe, and a discovery of potential in humanity that may or may not lead to the salvation of one or both clashing entities. 

Same base setting, The human race is on the brink of extinction by creatures they know close to nothing about. After a long time with peace the humans have to yet again battle these monsters. Similar in both there is lots of mystery around the creatures, where they came from, why they are attacking and what do they want, if they want anything. In both shows there's lots of good action scenes, plot twists you did not expect and really epic soundtrack in my opinion. Don't let the 3D-CGI animation stop you from watching it, give it a try. You will have to get used to it a bit either way. You could miss out on one good story. read more 

Attack on Titan is a shounen version of Sidonia no Kishi set on Earth instead of space and has titans instead of gauna. 

humanity's last stand kind of thing. both are not afraid to kill characters and do a good job of making it all seem very real and terrifying  

both anime talks about young people who trying to rescue the humanity from extinction . 

both have the feeling of 'battle shonen with a added dash of desperation and carnage' and both are focused on a 'last' bastion of humanity fighting against a monstrous enemy. Differences are mainly in the setting, Sidonia is sci-fi in space with mechs, Shingeki is more grounded, fantasy oriented.  

Both shows involve the last sliver of humanity's hope fighting improbably large enemies that want to eat them. Both protagonists are idealists that don't want to see any of their precious friends killed but see it happen anyways. And both shows offered a similar episode-by-episode cliffhanger-ing style.

Where humanity’s at the verge of extinction due to more dominant creatures. Shingeki No Kyojin has Titans, Sidonia No Kishi has Gauna. Titans and Gauna consume humans. Superb and catchy OSTs. Both have SNK acronyms :D Difference is that Sidonia takes place in space and more of mecha, and most specially the art. 

Sidonia no Kishi is essentially Shingeki no Kyojin meets Ender's Game. Humanity is in it's last stronghold (spaceship) fighting against giant monsters that threaten to wipe them out of existence. Monsters that may resemble humans themselves. The series is currently ongoing but I would highly recommend it. 

To be blunt, Knights of Sidonia = Attack on Titan in space (SPAAAAAACCEEEE). There are probably more similarities between SnK (Shingeki no Kyojin) and SnK (Sidonia no Kishi) than there are differences, one of which is the title (this will be confusing). Both are in an apocalyptic setting with humans fighting against a large flesh-coloured monster that reappeared after 100 years of peace. The monsters in AoT and KoS (better?) both have a weak spot which the humans exploit, and they both regenerate. Oh, and lots of people die. The differences with them, is the fact that KoS was made entirely with CGI (and 2D Cell Shading). For me, I really liked it because it kept the art style consistent. Also KoS delves a bit into the romance portions anime (but you cant feel for the characters when they die...at least I can't). In short, Both are great series. I personally liked KoS better mainly because there was not hype for me when I watched it (AoT is overhyped IMO). read more 

Both shows are about the humanity fighting against something like natural predators. In Shingeki no Kyojin, Humanity was fighting against Titans. in Sidonia no Kishi (Knights of Sidonia), Humanity will fight against Gaunas, some kind of giant aliens. Sidonia no Kishi happen's in the future, where humanity make use of giant robots that can fly and do cool stuff like that As duas séries são sobre a humanidade lutando contra algo como predadores naturais. Both shows feature the last remnants of humanity in a fight against a powerful enemy whose goal seems to be the elimination of the human race.

Humanity is in similar situation in both of these shows although setting is different. There is mystery behind main antagonists in both shows. Both shows have many cliffhangers. Music and action are combined in both show to make them extremely exciting. 

Both are in a setting where humanity is in a verge of extinction, where they have to fight against an unknown monster/alien etc. Both main characters are set in a training school.  

- both deal with humanity on the brink of extinction in the last fortress of humanity - an unknown lifeform which can take on humanoid form is the cause of their near extinction and they're under constant threat from them - The MC has some secret ability within him that they're not aware of themselves - companions of the MC are brutally murdered throughout the series 

Attack on Titan is quite possibly one of the best action animes I have ever seen the sheer weight of humanitys situation in the show can be felt. Knights of Sidonia is almost identical in this regard, it has great action, great characters, plot twists and turns, ethical and moral dilemnas and so many good traits. Both shows have- -A main character who symbolizes the fight for humanity -A dystopian/apocalyptic future where humanity is terrorized by massive powerful creatures(Titans and the Gauna) -A setting where humanity is enclosed by walls and consists of the last remnants(The walls and the spaceship Sidonia) -Strong ethical and moral questioning of what is right and wrong -Amazing action scenes that make you want to jump out of your seat and start fighting yourself -A cast of characters that you become bonded to but could die at anytime and also will -Very good character development and interpersonal relationships -A kickass OST, both are orchestral in nature but Sidonia incorporates electronic music nicely If you watched Attack on Titan then Knights of Sidonia is a must trust me. Forenote(Animation style of Sidonia may be offputting at first due to its 3D nature but it settles down by episode 5, just stick through it, the story, characters and action are its selling points) read more 

A population of humans living within a defensive base for safety from the powerful enemy that lives beyond their walls. Both main characters are involved in assault squads that take the fight into the enemy territory. 

Note : This recommendation contains bad grammars. Both are action anime. Based on story line, both anime shows humans are trying to survive from fear of monster threat by making shelter to form a defense forces. And also there are many of main character's friends died during the war which makes him sad and fight back for revenge. 

Both shows have giant monsters hunting humans and the setting is post-apocalyptic. Attack on Titan is medieval while Sidonia no Kishi is set in Space. Both shows have "knights" and conflicting morals. Plus lots of blood and gore with no care for fodder! 

Very similar in content, but Shingeki is far more ambitious and original. Plus Shingeki has really unique, hyperdramatic art that is beautiful and high budget, while Sidonia has the patented Netflix, low frame-rate 3D style that is hard for me to get into.  

Knights of Sidonia is basically Attack on Titan in Space. Humanity's last chance trapped in a distressing situation. *check* MC who has a weird past and sports epic fighting abilities. *check* Supporting cast consisting of hardcore soldiers and incompetent friends. *check* Humans developing special gear to fight a enemy that threatens them with extinction. *check* IF you liked Attack on Titan or Knights of Sidonia, chances are that you'll like the other.  

Is basically Attack on Titan but set in space and made with CGI. 

Sidonia is basically EVA in space. Alien lifeforms are attacking humanity for unknown reasons and it's up to an unlikely rookie pilot to help stop them. Great and realistic action scenes mixed with a solid story and an awesome sci-fi setting. 

Mysterious, powerful aliens seek to destroy humanity, who has taken shelter in a defensive base. The only way to fight these intruders is by employing humanoid gundam-like robots, requiring capable humans to pilot them. Both focus on the portrayal of human psychological conditions. 

Both are human fighting unknown creatures that comes endlessly. 

Both animes have people getting into massive robots and fighting off aliens that come from outer space. Both set in the future. 

Both series involve the human race being terrorized by another more dominate race. Both series take place outside of earth in space on a another planet. The two MC's of both stories are very skilled and naturally talented but have lost love ones in the past and it impacts the way they deal with certain situations in the current time of the story. Both series are brutal and no one is safe especially the Main Characters, the narrative's have Action, Horror, Sci-Fi, and Space genre elements. 

Both story focuses on the space. Both anime has aliens that humans need to kill to survive. Both shows are exciting and fast-paced.  

Survival anime in space, lots of death and fighting against superior life forms. 

Both take place somewhere other than Earth; Sidonia in space and terra formars on Mars. Each of them have a threat that poses a threat to humanity and a special group is formed to take on said threat. Both feature death however terra formars is a lot more graphic. 

The premise of these shows are similar. Humans living in huge spaceship/ships because an enemy have destroyed thier home. Both are also using giant robots to fight this said enemy.  

Mysterious, powerful aliens seek to destroy humanity, who has taken shelter in a self-sufficient space colony. The main characters pilot mecha, capable of releasing explosives and lasers, in order to protect their only home and fight these alien creatures. 

Very similar, where the alien life form seems to adapt, and everyone lives on ships. Its like Macross minus the singing 

The two anime have a very similar feel, probably since they are both space mechas with a lot of action. Both anime feature a special pilot as main character. The major difference lies in the singing 

In a futuristic world, both series primarily focuses on humanity's survival against an alien species. The main male protagonist has experience with fighting against them and are joined by his friends/comrades in a raging war. There is mild comedy, violence, and some bits of mystery related to the origins of the species. I recommend both series for anyone interested in science fiction stories with an apocalyptic setting. 

Both are mecha anime, the humanity is on the brink of extinction and they are fighting atrocities made of flesh. The atmosphere is dark in both, the difference is that Sidonia no kishi show us a fighter on the front line. 

Both have humanoids fighting for survive from a faction which would consume them Both you mechs with strong capabilities but are worthless in the hands of the untrained Sidonia is full time CGI Fight scenes are generally better in Sidonia

Knights of Sidonia and Blame! are both based on manga by Tsutomuu Nihei. Both anime are animated by Polygon Pictures. Humanity is almost extinct in each futuristic society. What is left of humanity is trying to avoid the enemy. The main character in both series is from underground where most of humanity is. A small group of humans wearing special gear have to go out and fight the enemy. Both anime have great world building. Angela performed the theme songs for both anime. 

Similar visuals and setting give the same feeling when watching. Desperation and survival in a post apocalyptic sense. Deep Sci-fi themes. Psychological, action, and drama present throughout each story.  

Both series are created by Tsutomu Nihei and animated by Polygon Pictures. Both worlds have fallen by extraterrestrial beings (robots and parasitic aliens known as Gauna).  

Same author, Same sci-fi, just watch it. 

They have elements of sci-fi and takes place in a futuristic setting. But for both series, life never comes easy for the main protagonists as they struggle to survive and cope in their world. There is the theme of survival as mysterious enemies threatens the characters' very existence. But among those enemies also emerges resistance that battles them. There is relationship development in both series and concepts along with certain plot twists. If you're interested in sci-fi anime with a setting involving characters battling for survival, then take a look at these two shows. 

Humanity is under threat by an alien species. Flying mechs and killing them. Gargantia in space, really. 

In these shows humanity is in similar situation although setting is bit different. SnK is mostly set in Space and on Space ship, where SnG is mostly set on planet although it has some space scenes. Also both of these shows have mechas. Main characters have some similarities. 

If you enjoyed Aldnoah.Zero this past season then it may be worth a look at Sidonia no Kishi. Both shows feature a predominantly mecha themed plot and have been made in the past year. Where as Aldnoah's story takes place almost exclusively on earth, Sidonia no Kishi takes place entirely in space. Though the two are very similar in the sci-fi mecha aspects they are also very different from one another. Unfortunately one of the main reasons people are put off by Sidonia no Kishi is because of the 3-dimensional art style compared to the much more common 2-dimensional style of Aldnoah. Though the art style does take some getting used to (speaking from experience) it is very much rewarded with just the depth of the show. Both will be featuring a second season to air in the next few seasons. So if you're in the market for a new mecha anime; it is definitely worth at the very least watching one or two episodes. read more 

Ambas series de ciencia ficcion, con un buen guion y desarrollo de personajes al principio no me enganchaba por el estilo 3d de los personajes, pero dejando eso de lado es una serie muy recomendable. 

*Humanity has to face aliens (that look pretty similar in both anime) who want to purge human race for the universe sake. *Main character has a super mecha *Hard sci fi!!! (Space radiation are deadly!)  

Very similar theme Humanity struggling for survival against space creatures both use mechas to fight them main character get a special mecha which creates some drama in the crew  

Both have futuristic aspects like vehicles and its from the same studio if you liked either one you may like the other i prefer knights of sidonia for the characters and story flow  

Extremely similar style of animation. The situation isn't massively different. Mecha isn't used in the same way but is included. The show looks very much similar with an old ship that left the system seeking a new home with a run down look. Romance in this however is very low on the scale of what is done but that is because it is more about fighting for a home.  

Both are from Polygon Pictures, both are CGI anime, and if you watched it dubbed they share many voice actors.  

Both shows are in CG. They have a gloomy tone with dark themes. Both of them have monstrous creatures. 

Both share a similar atmosphere and post-apocalyptic setting. In both series aliens have almost destroyed humanity and the rest of the human race has to fight for survival. Blue Gender takes place mostly on the ruined Earth, while Sidonia takes place entirely in space. Both series use a form of mech as weapons against the alien forces. 

Both futuristic post apocalyptic sci-fi that explore the human condition in survival oriented situations. Blue Gender is set on a post apocalyptic planet and is very compelling. Knights of Sidonia, I -think- is a Netflix original with unique animation and takes place primarily in space aboard a large colony vessel. The Sidonia no Kishi manga is finished and very good too.  

Alien invaders filled the earth. Both series contain comedy, action, drama, some tragedy, and later romance. The focus on the use children as soldiers to fight while the adults are forced to just watch on the sidelines are true for both these series. both explore the human elements and character interactions that are forged in extreme situations, employing the mecha genre as a means of developing the young pilots and the ordeals they go through.  

It's mech in space - so quite similar to the ending of franxx and involves anime romance and learning to deal with someone who isn't quite human. Very similar I think - just a slightly odd artstyle. 

Similarities: -Both anime occurs in a distant future dystopian societies. Both societes look pretty weird for 20-21th century humans. -Both anime presents a high level of sci-fi element and "the details", and in both humanity are endangered by extinction. -Both have specific, non-standard artwork. Differences: -Sidonia no Kishi occurs in deepspace, while Shinsekai Yori occurs on Earth in distant future. -Sidonia no Kishi have male lead who is clearly "The Main Protagonist"(Tanikaze), while Shinsekai Yori MC's have no clear lead, both Saki and Satoru have equal level personalities. -Sidonia no Kishi features more battle scenes, while Shinsekai Yori have much less of it.
