Both Series are Girls trained to fight the enemies of a Secret Organization. Though LycoReco has more humour and GsG is more serious and dark 

Both are about orphaned girls working since a young age as assassins working under a secret organization that fights against terrorism. While Gunslinger Girl is a very serious and gritty drama, Lycoris Recoil is a lot more moe and light hearted. 

The MCs from both anime are experts in using weapons, carrying out dangerous missions, and joining organizations. 

Cute Girls Assassins, Lycoris feels more like John Wick meets Slice of life tho 

Both about gunslinging girls, Lycoris Recoil is more cheerful, less lethal. Similar feeling when wathing, few times had a feeling those are a part of the series. 

Cute Anime Girls With AK-47 

Gunslinger girl also deals with girls packing heat in a secret organization of assassins.  

Both animes describe a story of top-class assasins who were previously ordinary people... They were forced to forget their past and go through hard training so as to do all the dirty work of the goverment (gunslinger girl) and the inferno(requiem for the phantom)... Also in both animes pure girls are used to make assasins... Finally the dark and serious way the events are described as well as the almost no-existing music is included in both Gunslinger girl and Phantom 

Born to kill and trained as assassins, both these series contain the mental and physical action that give the viewers a mind twist ride better than Disneyland; guns involved of course. 

Both have awesome assassins and great violence and blood. Both have a interesting story that will keep you hooked! 

1. The basic idea: erasing someone's past and training them into assassins. 2. A lot of gun action. (Note: Phantom is darker and twisted while G.G. is lighter and somewhat more predictable.) 

1) Both have the idea of being brainwashed and then trained as assassins 2) Both have involves the world of guns In my opinion, Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom has a more psychological, darker, emotional and real life theme to it. Gunslinger girl has slightly less of that but still remains that very same atmosphere.  

As another user said, there is a certain emotion one feels for the girls. As you watch you feel sorry for them yet enjoy that they can still manage to find happiness from day to day. 

The premises of both series are, at their most basic level, very similar, if not identical – a cast of predominantly female characters are essentially “reborn” into a new way of life, with no recollection of who they were previously. The girls in both series experience similar emotional and existential dilemmas. In general, these are series in which drama and atmosphere take precedence over action. 

These two shows deal with similar themes, including mortality and the loss of memory. The girls in both have a gentle innocence about them, though Gunslinger Girl's are marred by their purpose as tools. Excellent series to compare and contrast because of this. 

Minus the occasional action in Gunslinger Girl, these series have a very similar tone and cast of characters. Gunslinger Girl and Haibane Renmei are more soft and subdued series, where the quiet moments are often the most powerful.  

You can compare anime by mood or by plot. If you go by mood, Haibane Renmei and Gunslinger Girl are very similar. Both have the slow-moving, heavy-thinking setup that makes you ponder moral questions. The plot, however, could not be more different. 

Tone, mood, pacing and art style are almost identical, even when the plot is superficially very different. The underlying situation is similar, though. Girls are "reborn" while losing all memories of a previous life and find themselves in a world with strict rules and uncertain future. Both anime focus on the psychology of the girls and the questions they ask themselves. Both have no "real" plot but are rather a philosophical slice of life in a very strange world, which requires suspension of disbelief to enjoy. 

Little girls used as a weapon. Main hero treats them with care, for some others they just instrument. Both anime full of drama and angst. Gunslinger girl is more mature and realistic title - without your average japanese highschooler, who can save the world. On other hand Black Bullet is your average shounen anime. 

Young girls with powers/enhancements are partnered with older males and made to fight. In Black Bullet it's to save the world from virus-made monsters, while in Gunslinger Girl it's to be assassins and protectors for the Italian government. Black Bullet seems lighter in tone than Gunslinger Girl, but they both make a point of mentioning the tragedy of the necessity to use young children in their positions.  

In both series, there is a bond like master and servant, in this context is officer and his helper. The officer is man and the helper is a little girl. The girl has special ability. In GSG, the girl has a kind of transplanted human body which makes them stronger than any ordinary human, while in Black Bullet the girl is a special breed infected from monsters called Gastrea which also makes them stronger. These girls are so agile in combat, helping their officer to solve cases and beat bad guys. Oh, and in both series there is some gun involved. 

Gunslinger Girl is essentially a much darker and serious version of Black Bullet. It is a true hidden gem in my opinion. 

Both shows are about girls who are outcast by society gaining a chance at life by working for the government, with older people guiding them as their mentors. Also, cool action and guns.  

Deadly little girls from secret organization as a background to plot full of drama, sadness, and... dead people.  

Both are about deadly little girls that are trained and ordered by older males 

Violence is galore in both anime, and they portray girls being "forced" into violent behavior themselves can't really avoid. In both anime girls are circumstantially connected to a male character.  

Same kind of dark aura like feel. More blood and gore though.  

Two early/mid 2000s anime adapted from manga from that era. While on the surface they might not necessarily be too similar, both Elfen Lied and Gunslinger Girl have important psychological aspects involved, and both create a huge contrast between the protagonists' actions and their inner thoughts and feelings. Furthermore, both anime have a similar aesthetic, with muted colors and usage of classical music and art. On top of that, the visual style and character designs are quite similar These two are must-watch anime for those with nostalgia for the 2000s, and those who like plots that present ethical dilemmas and delve into the inner struggles of the characters. read more 

Girls and guns; both about assassin girls doing their job perfectly.  

Both feature kick-ass girls who are assassins as the main characters. If you liked one, you are probably going to like the other just as much. 

Although this anime is quite different it could also be considered quite similar as well. Gunslinger Girl begins with the same premise. Girls with highly refined gun skills working as assassins. I believe both revolve around the pacing of the action sequences and if you enjoyed Noir's actions sequences Gunslinger Girl will definitely be a step up due to the detail taken to animate shooting, recoil, bullet casings, gun powder smoke, etc. If you enjoyed the action sequences in Noir, you likely enjoyed it partly because the pure insanely-cold expressions and ease they dispatched their enemies and in Gunslinger Girls you will definitely find that element still there. Lastly if you simply just enjoy watching girls shoot the crap outta guys against overwhelming odds, Gunslinger Girl is definitely your cup of tea. The main character likes hers with lots of sugar. =P read more 

Both series feature lush European settings, powerful music, and their stories offer a more dramatic spin on the "girls with guns" cliche, emphasizing the heroines' struggles to unlock dark pasts and understand "who" they really are. 

These shows both give off a similar mood. They are deeply concerned with psychological warfare, though I won't get too into that due to spoilers. Very dark and sometimes depressing, but also littered with heartwarming moments. They both do a great job at conveying multiple sides to characters.  

Both series share a highly detailed study of coercive human conditioning, Monster builds on many more themes related to this concept the most prevalent one is the detailed psychoanalysis of sociopath. Whilst Gunslinger Girl is far more grounded in actual concept of human conditioning with a science fiction twist added in for good measure. They are both very mature series both in their approach to the subject matter and the seriousness in which they handle the situation. 

When it comes to portraying human nature in situations of non-dualist conflict, these series choose to show short personal stories which help you feeling attached to the human beings who are both killing and suffering due to the situation they're in. You're invited to see the world in other way than in black and white. Also, Hidenobu Kiuchi is the voice actor for both male protagonists, Tenma (Monster) and Croce (Gunslinger Girl) 

-both are made by Madhouse -they are fighting with guns -both are psychological -art-style is very similar -action happens in European countries (Germany-Italy) -gives you the same feeling, however Monster is superior.  

They both tackle the subject of modified girls and are also both extremely serious animes.  

Both about girls who are in the wrong place at the wrong time and are turned into weapons of war. They are very similar in tone, and focus on some of the same themes, though SaiKano focuses more on the costs of fighting rather than the costs of being turned into a tool for fighting. 

Similar theme in that a young girl/s are being corrupted mentally and physically by an arm of the government. "Is it worth it" as question plays a big role in both anime. 

In Gunslinger Girl and Neon Genesis Evangelion the main characters are adolescent children fighting for some shady semi-government organizations. In both series it leads to all kind of mental problems and weird relationships. Also some plot elements and themes appear in both series. If you liked this title you most probably like the other. P.S. In both series the organizations are very twisted and do almost anything to achieve their goal. In my opinion the gals from Gunslinger Girl, for some reason, seem like a combination of the Eva pilots and Eva Units. 

At first glance, it seems pretty weird to link NGE with Gunslinger Girl, but on a deeper analyse you realize that these two anime are alike, and a lot. If we go deeper, we see that Gunslinger Girl tried to recreate NGE's most interesting points. All the characters from the girls to the grown up go through a hard psychological struggle on what is right and what is wrong, and about the organization they work for. While the characters fight, the fights lose meaning as we are more focused on the characters' struggle and how they will come out of the deppression pits they are in. Both series do the same (on different settings and at different scales), make you not wanna be in the characters' position, as they show you how their heads twist with every situation. GG clearly learned from NGE how to make a good psychological thriller. read more 

Even through there are less variety of characters in GG, the show is also about the characters, their development and their role in the world. People get shot, bleed, die, and psychically break even without the presence of giant mechas or otherworldly beings. There's the same attention to details as in Neon Genesis Evangelion. Military vehicles, guns, structures and art are far from being unrealistic. Plot is equally absorbing but less complicated, at least as far as Season 1 goes. A must watch for any NGE fan. 

There are some semilarities, both main characters are gun experts, but in Gunslinger Girls the characters are a bit emotioneless, but still the girls still have some relations of friendship between each other, in both anime there's a lot gun action, in both they take in dirty work from the bigshots and before the main story a lot of the charcters had different lifes from the ones they have now.

The atmosphere revolves a lot around bullets and guns, that are very detailed. Also the see is pictured similarly. Lastly Gunslinger Girls plot has some similarities with some episodes of Black Lagoon. 

Girl(s) trained by their masters to kill 

Both anime are starring tragic young girls abused as assasins, in the tradition of Luc Bresson's Nikita or Léon. In both anime, underage children are objectified, treated cruelly, and some are killed. A Kite goes much further regarding the degree of child abuse, depending on the cut version to explicit, hentai grade sexualized violence. The violence in Gunslinger Girl is more subtle and psychological, but it's eventual mind break effect is similar. In both, a lot of focus is placed on the psychology of the assasin girls, and their attempt to cope with the situation. Also, both have a hard to describe atmosphere of inevitablity, professionalism, and nagging doubt. read more 

Both are about young girls who are manipulated by adults and used as tools for violence. The stories depict how the girls struggle with human emotions and grow stronger as they form bonds with different people. Violet Evergarden is optimistic while Gunslinger Girl is quite dark and depressing.

Same deal, cute little innocent girls suffer for our entertainment. I guess at this point everyone in the solar system has heard the name of Madoka, so I wouldn't say much about that. If you can get pass the ridiculous premise of Gunslinger Girl (well it's an anime), you may be surprised by how subtle the show is handled instead of making it as loud as possible. There is no super hyper character, no crazy plot twist or epic music, all you have is a great atmosphere created with good pacing, expert timing editing, great voice acting and appropriate music. Instead of trying to make you care about the characters, the show just presents them as real people with real emotion, little girls act like little girls even though they are messed up at some level. When a character died, it's genuinely sad rather than shocking or comedic, almost nothing is exaggerated. With all these care and passion the creator put into the show, they successfully create a truly unique work that is not just a copy and paste of some previous successful works, which makes the show more immersive and enjoyable. With well executed gun battles and one of the best use of classical piece in anime as icing on the cake, even though you may not be impressed but I doubt you would ever be angered by it. Turns out when it is done well, little girls suffering can be really sad. Damn it. Somehow I mess up the order, it should be the other way around. Btw, Mal is such a tsundere, she wouldn't let me change. read more 

Both series have are very strong drama. Both use the little girls for storytelling. Great music, clever dialogues and interesting characters. 

Young girls with gun fighting for peace 

In both series, some young girls of various ages are trained and supervised by over graded members of an association for which they work for, in order to fight against a common ennemy. (Terrorists in Gunslinger Girl and Neuroi in Strike Witches.) In each of the series, the girls fight using overpowered abilities that they gained due either to their modified body (cyborg like...) in Gunslinger Girl or by using their magic power to operate "striker units" which it's the case in Strike Witches. 

Both stories have children gun master. They are both show the opposition of child's innocence and assassins instinct required for their survival. Both are good stories, full of action. Both lead to reflection about youth. Gunslinger girls is slower paced story.  

Both shows have little girls that serve as dangerous weapons and are meant to fight instead of the adults that take care of them. 

Shikabane Hime, in my opinion, is basically a paranormal fantasy version of Gunslinger Girl. The monk/Shikabane Hime pairings are similar to the handler/cyborg Fratellos in Gunslinger Girl (though in GSG the handlers are exclusively male adults), both have a heavy focus on relationships between the members of these pairs, the inhuman characters in the pairs are always female, those same female characters become what they are due to extremely traumatic experiences, and both ask you if the girls can or should be considered human beings anymore. 

Both involve young girls who are expert shooters. 

Both involve the mafia and gratuitous violence. However, Baccano! is much lighter than the deeply disturbing Gunslinger Girl. 

Both shows bring up questions regarding society and humanity, allowing the viewer to come up with their own interpretation and opinion. They also have enough action dispersed throughout to keep the atmosphere tense and the audience engaged. ...plus, you know, girls with guns are awesome. ^^ 

Gunslinger Girl is a series that is similar to Angel Heart in that it places its main characters in a position as young assassins. The difference between the series is that Angel Heart focuses more on one assassin who grows out of her "set to kill" status in humorous and sweet ways after she literally gains "another" heart. Gunslinger Girl focuses on a group of young assassins and the relationships with their "handlers". The girls are each explored in brief in terms of their pasts and how they came to be assassins. 

Similarities: • They both feature mature and dark themes, one of which being mistreatment, prevalent in both series. • They both feature children in a central position for the story. • In addition to this, they both focus on a war or fights the children are forced to fight by their circumstances. • While said children also have similar circumstances that they are forced to fight by the political structure or ruler they're under for the benefit of said organization. • Both are short series. Differences: • While both series are somewhat science fiction-ish, Now and Then, Here and There is more fantastic as it features time travel and creatures of another planet, while the only thread Gunslinger Girl has is that the girl have their bodies turned semimechanical, which is the premise for the series. • While the rule posed on the children is somewhat morally ambivalent in execution for Gunslinger Girl, the children of Now and Then, Here and There are ruled by a tyrant. • The children of Gunslinger Girl are supervised by a guardian and they are explored as characters through that relationship. Now and Then, Here and There doesn't use that technique and instead focuses mostly on the direction on the story to explore them. • Ironically, the overwhelming majority of children (if not all) in both series are of the opposite gender of the other. • The children come under the control of each organization from drastically different circumstances. read more
