Most recently, I've read Jamie Oliver's At Home and got very jealous of his garden. As a hobby, during the summer I grow some vegetables too (like tomatoes, cucumbers, beans, etc) but nothing of his scale. It's nice to see him get back to the roots, so to speak, I think we've been overfed with the restaurant style cooking, at least over here. But then, all styles have their places. My absolute top favourite is a book called simply "Cooking", I believe that it's out of print, published sometime in the late 80's. It's really more of a reference book than a cookbook, though it does include recipes. It covers everything from vegetables, fruits, through meat, fish to preserving and tools. I love to take it out of the shelf once in a while and open it randomly to read about whatever just happens to be on that page. It's interesting to see how different nations/countries prepare the same thing in a completely different, sometimes very strange, way. Or learning little facts that you didn't know before. Probably would come useful on Jeopardy or Weakest Link ;) Did the Hairy Bikers make their way to the States yet?

Ice? In Florida? Is the end near?! Seriously, I had no idea that temperatures could drop this low there. I've heard that a lot of the planet is experiencing quite the cold spell, how unusual.

I've missed the feel of real books recently and somehow got into reading cookbooks, not sure why, maybe it's the cold weather's doing, don't we eat more when it's cold? Heh. I had a go at making my own chocolates this Christmas, maybe that's to blame, I really enjoyed it.

Stay warm!

Good to hear from you! ^__^ So far so good, can't really complain; work hasn't been too taxing, the weather is getting warmer (we had most unusual amounts of snow and low temperatures this winter).

I'm up to chapter 5 of Black Rose Alice. I'm holding off judgement on it for the time being. Usually I'm a big fan of Mizushiro's work - I think I've read everything of her's that's available in english and can't say that I disliked anything, aside from her earlier artwork. I learned to deal with it as her stories are worth it. Alice is very strange and those spiders coming out of mouths gave me the odd nightmare ;) She sure is creative!

I hate waiting for new chapters/volumes to come out, I guess I'm impatient. I've been into shounen, action and mystery stuff lately, I did like Bloody Monday - if you haven't read it yet, that's a good one to get into, it's also finished (though a sequel is in the works), which is a plus.

For something that's far away from silly and fluffy, how about Liar Game? The artwork's on the simple side but the mind puzzles/tricks are anything but, especially if you try to work them out on your own :D I'm a little afraid of it becoming repetitive eventually, but so far so good. Also, there are a lot of chapters out, so you can take your time. There is also Psyren, sci-fi-ish manga full of action, though it's the mystery behind that's got me interested more. Those two come to mind right now, as I've been catching up with the newest chapters.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
