the main plots are very simmilar, the bigest differance is in the main characters. in To-Love-Ru the main character is shy and in-experanced with girls. but in Urusei Yatsura the main charater thinks of himself as a lady killer.

Another really funny anime series, written by the same manga-ka. Both series are very alike because they don't focus on a main plot. Instead, they tend to concentrate on the characters, their evolution and their relationships throughout the series.

Same creators. Both start of at least seemingly one sided love affair.Urusei Yatsura has more nonsensical comedy while Maison Ikkoku is more slice of life comedy.

I can't believe no one has pointed this out already... The following could describe either one of these shows: A young mans lecherous behavior ends up getting him bound to a beautiful green haired girl who he quickly loses interest in since she punishes him everytime he looks at another woman. In both cases the girls are supernatural (one is an alien, the other a dog spirit) and along with the male lead they end up encountering lots of spirits and other unusual things.

While both series are completely different plot wise, the characters and romance are definitely similar. Hibari is a lot like Lum in terms that she's madly in love with the main character, Kosaku (Lum being madly in love with Ataru). Not only that, Ataru and Kosaku share the same traits where they fall in love with any other girl versus their main love interest. Hibari and Kosaku live under the same roof and attend the same high school just like Lum and Ataru. Other similarities between others include: Hibari and Ryuunosuke (both hide their gender perspectives at school versus with people they know well) as  read more

Both are about paranormal species falling in love and stuff like that. They're both from the 80's if you like retro anime.

Nyaruko's archetype is heavily based on Lum's and the show references Urusei Yatsura often

Both are slice of life featuring supernatural beings who come to live with a human protagonist on Earth. Whereas the supernatural beings in Dragon Maid are dragons with magic, the supernatural beings in Urusei Yatsura are aliens with technology.

Aliens, wacky characters, slapstick antics, very funny. Gintama can get more serious at times, and Urusei Yatsura can focus more on romance, but both are shows I can sit down and enjoy with a good laugh.

If you like old-fashioned anime comedies like Urusei Yatsura you may well also like Dr. Slump and Arale-chan. Both series were broadcast in the early 80s and have a number of voice actors in common.

very similar humour and even has Urusei Yatsura references

Frantic slapstick comedy, wonderfull or horrible word play (it depends :)) with a bit of sweet romance. Way more action in NG Knight Ramune & 40.

In both series, Aliens come to invade earth, but get stopped by members of an earthling family. The aliens put then any earth conquering plans on hold, but instead lead their daily lives together with the humans. At least one alien develops a romantic interest in a human, which is a minor (Natsuki/Giroro) or major (Lum/Ataru) topic of the series. If you are interested in interplanetary slice of live, you may try these titles out.

I am surprised this one has not been mentioned before. The main appeal of Saiki is not the premise (as interesting as it may be). Rather, it's the ensemble of wacky characters and the funny high-jinks they get into. This is something that Urusei Yatsura has a lot of, as well. As with Saiki, Urusei Yatsura has an ensemble of extremely endearing and lovable dumbass characters (with new ones being introduced periodically), always finding themselves in a new absurd scenario.

These two series are the classic space princess anime, in Urusei Yatsura, Lum arrives to Earth, along with her dad for the purpose of conquest, but falls in love with the lead male, Ataru and becomes obsessed with him. Like To Love Ru, UY has the crazy aliens like Jeriten, Lum's bratty flying fire breathing cousin, and Ran, who is like Kuromi from Onegai My Melody because she feels Lum made her life miserable or slighted her when they were little. Unlike To Love Ru though, you have the obsessive love Lum feels for Ataru, while in To Love Ru only  read more

There are many elements that make both series comparable. Structurally these two anime don't follow much of an overarching plot and most of the episodes revolve around the MC fiddling with aliens and their technology (Lum) or future gadgets (Doraemon) and most of the time ending with unfavorable results since they're both so alike and unlucky. It's also worth noting that the two MCs also have a bad reputation in their respective series and no one places much hope in neither of them. You can feel a bit of an evolution of Ataru's love feelings in Urusei Yatsura while in Nobita's case he's always back and  read more

Absurd comedies from the same era. Hera's relationship with Zeus and usage of lightning reminds of Lum's relationship with Ataru and may have been an inspiration, since Pollon manga is older

Both series have a girl with otherworldly abilities coming into the life of a luckless male protagonist, and subsequently turns these mild-mannered fellows otherwise hum-drum lives upside down. In both, the female protagonists regularly have otherworldly friends and rivals show up to cause havoc in their and their new significant others' lives with zany hi-jinx. Another shared dynamic is the poignant moments the couples share, even amidst the chaotic adventures both shows offer sincere sentiment and show these characters have strong commitment and affection for each other, even with all the madcap insanity.

Both represent a sort of 'golden age' for 80's anime. The storytelling are both told in an episodic manner, and both have very memorable soundtracks, characters, influence and designs. CH is more for the action fan, or someone who's into the masculine male lead who humps(or wants to hump) anything attractive that he see's. While UY is more of a comical(sometimes even dark) depiction and satire of Japanese culture in general. Both main male leads are inhumanly perverted, both main female leads beat them/electrocute them to put them in their place(But not for long!).

A boy from Earth and his girlfriend from outer space. Sounds familiar? Although "Narue no Sekai" isn't exactly an early 2000s direct reinterpretation of Urusei Yatsura, but it takes some liberties to expand the same concept and the result is kinda... heart-warming!

They don’t appear similar at first glance, but having an overlap of the same director, co-director, and bulk of the voice cast leads to the situational and character based comedy of both shows playing out in a similar manner. Patlabor is exponentially more grounded compared to the endlessly goofy Urusei Yatsura, but many of Oshii’s hallmarks are present in both anime.

While Urusei Yatsura focuses less on the romance on the sidelines, they both have a similar goal of having a supernatural heroine try and win the affection of her love interest, while trying to keep away the competition and deal with their supernatural families too. They both have a similar vibe to them with the comedy as well.

If you enjoy anime about relationship between a demon girl and a perferted human, that is at times comedy and at times drama, then you might like those two.

Both are made by the same creator which is Rumiko Takahashi and both have the same main character falling for a guy who treats them like crap. Also have similar personalities too, only Lum is way more likable and hotter.

Once I saw the beginning, I saw the naked baby with greenish hair and him zapping the gangster, I immediately thought,' This could be Lum's child...'

Both anime are very ecchi and the similarity is that the protagonist have a beautiful girl living with them but they are not just any ordinary girl they have special ability or is an alien from a different planet. I do recommend both anime if you like ecchi and humor

I feel like Outlanders may have been based on this show as there is a similar situation between a green haired girl (with horns) who wants to marry the main male character. The two female leads of these anime are both voiced by Fumi Hirano. Urusei Yatsura, however, spans 195 episodes, 6 movies, 11 ovas, (all airing from 1981-1991) and now recently a new Ova from the Rumic World 50th Anniversary, so there's a lot more you need to cover in this anime.

Can Can Bunny is pretty much the hentai version of Urusei Yatsura, only instead Swaty is a goddess instead of an alien and Kenta is a college student instead of a high school student. But i say Can Can Bunny is the hentai version of Urusei Yatsura because like Lum, Swaty also cherishes and love only one guy (which is basically the main male protagonist) who treats them badly but deep down loves them dearly, also like Lum she's willing to sacrifice everything (including her own life) just for the sake of their love ones, and like Lum she also has a bit of a  read more

Both are classic sci-fi romantic comedies starring an average Japanese high school guy. He inadverdently stumbles upon several beautiful (and often scanty-clad) female aliens, who become more interested in him than in their intergalatic adventures.

School Rumble is quite a unique anime experience filled with nostalgic memories anyone can relate with. Starting off with an innocent little girl, Tsukamoto Tenma as she goes to school who just wishes she could reach out to her loved one and have a romantic time together as their highschool years go by. Unbeknownst to Tenma however, a delinquent is also on the chase for his lover… who just happens to be her. Giving you Shoujo Vibes? Well, it isn’t not by a milestone. It’s in fact, a comedy anime filled with the feeling of wanting to reach out for the other person, but never truly  read more
