If you are looking for a different sort of shoujo, one with a male mc that is not a bishounen or from a guy's point of view, try My Hero! or Ore Monogatari!!. The guys in these shoujos are not like your guys in typical shoujos, in fact, they are sort of like the "other guy" or the sidekick guy in a shounen, they are Not handsome and not your typical shounen or shoujo hero. These male mcs are like the other guy or the guy who is a lot nicer but who usually does not get the  read more

Angel Densetsu is a shounen while Ore Monogatari is a shoujo so their focuses are a bit different: one focusing more on juvenile delinquent comedies, while the latter focuses more on romance. But both series are about an intimidating looking, but kind-hearted young man wins over friends (and a girlfriend!) while primarily employing misunderstandings to keep the conflict and comedy going.

Both fight for the injustice of others (Oni it’s just woman and Ore is everyone) and saves the female lead from a bad man/bad men. While people usually run scared from them they receive thanks instead from the female lead, causing the male leads to fall in love almost immediately. Oni no Youna has way more violence and a supernatural aspect while Ore Monogatari focus on the romance and friendship. While Oni doesn’t have as much mutual love yet they still felt the same in many aspects.

Both are pure and heartwarming romance stories with essentially no conflict. They are the type of manga that can bring happiness to the most desolate of souls.

High school, love is in the air,.... If that's what you like than Nisekoi will take you to the fantasy land of romance on a trip you shall never forget;)

- Both cute couples. Sure that you're gonna love them both (Atleast for me) - Not so similar couples but has its moments from each couple. - Both gives you dopamine

Both stories make readers happy, as well as reflective. Besides the characters being in high school (therefore, having events like school trips and school festivals), these stories depict non-generic characters. There is definitely diversity among the characters, and various situations. You see how people who are in love do their best, in their own way and own pace. There are fabulous friends who encourage and help each other. There are close friendships and tight bonds. Both sexes work for their love. There are no stereotypical gender roles pinned to the perspectives that the stories are told from, as the characters learn and grow through their  read more

Girl falls for strong guy who usually has no game

The MC's have trouble and self confidence issues about how love is supposed to look. They slowly see how its okay to not care what others think. Both of the supportive love interest are responsive. MC genders are reversed here

Firstly, they share an artist—meaning kieta hatsukoi also has insanely funny expressions! I feel like, despite the writers being different, it shares a sense of humour with Ore Monogatari. Both stories also take a traditional shoujo setting and subvert it in interesting ways, along with a strong sense of both heart and humour. Two of my favourite shoujo mangas :D

Both follow male leads who appear intimidating and standoffish but are actually gentle giants who care deeply for those around them. They both learn to face their insecurities and better themselves after saving and becoming acquainted with a sweet female lead who attends an all-girls school. They both also have wonderful friends around them who are there to help, and these friendships are very well fleshed out. Both also involve one of the main characters wanting to pursue baking as a profession. Both feature healthy relationships and friendships alike, and if you enjoy one, I recommend the other.

Both Densha Otoko and Ore Monogatari start off with the main protagonist rescuing a woman on a train, but while Takeo is a huge man, "Densha" is a nerdy otaku. However despite their dissimilar backgrounds, both guys are really "pure" in their intentions and bashful when it comes to dealing with the opposite sex and both seek out the advice of friends on how to manage and improve their relationship - the twist being that in "Densha Otoko", the man "Densha" recieves his advice from a popular 2chan message board (the story is actually based off a number of threads that really appeared on 2chan).  read more

The relationship dynamic is basically the same, only changing the age range. While Arasa Dakedo may be more appealing for adults and josei-enjoyers, the innocence and extreme fluffiness probably fits better the teenagers in Ore Monogatari. In any case, if you liked one of them you will probably enjoy the other.

Both of these stories feature protagonists who don't fall into the typical shoujo manga stereotypes. Physically, the hero/heroine look like characters that would be thrown away in the background of most other manga (a guy who's huge and intimidating in Ore Monogatari and an overweight girl in Pochama ni). They each have a supportive friend and manage to find the perfect partner who can accept them completely. I find myself enjoying them in the same way: for the refreshingly straightforward manner the characters have of facing their own challenges and romantic developments.

Inexperience in romance. Both series' main male protagonist falls into that category when it comes to developing relationships. Throughout their past lives, they have been rejected by girls for various reasons. In present time, that pattern seems to continue but some events unfolds that changes that. Both series are known for some cliche story developments but remain genuine to their premise and intentions. There's also a good amount of characterization as we see what our main male protagonist is really like; although their personalities aren't very similar. Recommended for fans of comedy/drama/romance.

Despite their different premises, I find Ore Monogatari and Ocha ni Gosu to be similar especially with the relationship dynamics. Both series' main male protagonist are treated in disdain because of their outer appearance. Yet as we learn more about them, it's easy to realize that they have a big heart. There is evident romance development as the story progresses and reaches many points where we see the real personality of the characters. Recommended for fans of rom-com.

The feeling while reading both of them is the same.Lots of comedy and romance. The main characters, Risa and Takeo are very similar : ridiculous and complexed by their appearance (Risa is taller than her crush while Takeo has unappealing figure and a huge constitution)

Another low-drama, heartstring-tugging shoujo romance where the male lead is arguably the main character, and is admired by the female lead for his exceptional kindness and concern for others, rather than because of his looks.

The art is similar and their genres are comedy, romance, school and slice of life. Both stories are about a normal or unpopular person having a best friend which is very good-looking and popular.

Both Manga have a similar ambiance. While reading Ore Monogatari I kept remembering Orange and it made me want to read it again. Although one is more serious and one is more comedic, both are about highschool friends trying to help one another, with romance and drama involved as well. I think if you enjoyed one of these you are likely to enjoy the other!

Boys with rough appearances that don't match their kind, sensitive personalities. They experience pure, innocent love and awkwardly, yet endearingly, try to get closer to their crush.

Romance manga where the protagonist is a strong guy with intimidating body who is actually kind and is wholly unfamiliar with romantic situations.

Two stories about true love. Takeo and Keiichi are both super nice guys who have had bad luck with romance, until they find the love of their lives.
