Omg, I can't believe Andrea screwed with his own mother. This is probably one of the weirdest things I've ever seen (heard actually).

Also, I wonder what Albert is going to talk about with the Count, since he is probably the last person in the world, Albert wants to see.

This episode was AWESOME! V__V

But I guess we all know what's gonna happen in teh next ep. If they keep the pattern of the last two eps the same, that is. I wanna know what was in the letter~

Madame Danglers/Villefort passes out a lot, no? :3

And for the record... he attempted to screw his half-sister, but he decided not to. ._."

revenge is so sweet for Dantes... though its hard to agree with his meathods given that more than just the guilty are being punished here... poor Franz :(

I don't know what Albert is up to now, but it's probably made of stupid.

I kind of had a feeling that Andrea was their kid (it was kind of foreshadowed all over the place in the episode he appeared in) so I was pretty creeped out by him this entire time. D:

Another episode that is, underneath it all, really fantastic... but still. The Count's revenge was disturbing, although I can't say that Danglars was undeserving. He was a jerk. And Andrea... is just messed up. Don't know how else to say it... but I hope he's out of the picture for good now.

Interesting cliffhanger. Wonder what Albert will actually do now...

"Btw the needle was poisoned." No shit man! I bet everyone thought it was just a normal needle, and Andrea poked Villefort with it just for the lulz.

It was a good episode though, much better than the last ones.

Andrea is a good actor and a very, very sick person. I preferred this trial over the one in the book, I don't know why but the poisoned needle made it much more interesting.

Probably the best episode in the series, ignoring episode 18. It proves that good things come to those who wait: over half the series spent building up to Edmond's revenge and then two of the three 'victims' dealt with in a single episode; receiving half an ep each.

In the novel, Danglers was the last person dealt with, and by that point Edmond's hatred had faded to the point he no longer cared. But, as is the the case with much of the reworking of the novel, I was still left impressed by how it went down in this version. The ultimate punishment for someone as greedy as Danglers is for him to have all the money in the world and be unable to do anything with it. Classy stuff.

As for the second half of the episode, Edmond only had to watch on as Andrea did his work for him. Andrea did a beautiful job of getting back at the parents who had left him for dead: having sex with his mother and revealing the ugly truth about his prideful father to the entire world. Edmond adding his own finishing touch in person, once Andrea was finished, concluded the second third of his vengeance neatly.

I love how the guards run in after he stabs him.
Really, they didnt think the defendant getting close to a convicted murderer was a sign to separate them right.
Let's wait a few moments after he drops to the floor then rush in.

This is not a very fulfilling revenge now, is it? Those three spent their youth and middle age like kings.

Despite Andrea's actions, he was definitely justified in seeking revenge on his mother and father. I loved how he just played nice, forgiving son right up to the hug. The change in his tone was just superb too, soft spoken to cold and disgusted. And although I think banging his mom was over the top, he probably did that so he could leave her in mental anguish over that fact for the rest of her life.

I like how the Count, or rather Dantes, claims revenge on the men. Not by killing them, but by making them suffer until the day they die in agony and regret.

How is it not a fullfilling revenge? Yes they spent their middle age like kings but Edmond Dante couldn't do anything about it since he was exiled in space. Only to come back and have his revenge in the most fucked up ways.

The judge got judged after being exposed on what he did. He even got poisoned by his own son who also had sex with his mother. Not to mention how messed up that poison will kill you (i.e. it will rot your brain slowly, probably not kill him but make him like a human potato).

The bank dude had all of his wealth taken away from him only to be given all the wealth in the world and nothing to spent it on while he himself gets exiled in space.

Both those men have probably had a few years of living like kings after they betrayed Edmon Dante but they will both suffer untill the day they die and probably live the little rest of their lives in regret. I can't see why that wouldn't be a fullfilling revenge for Edmond Dante.

I don't know how different the show is from the novel (besides obviously the sci-fi setting), but this has been great. Sure it suffers from some dumb devices, usually originating from Albert, but otherwise it's been only impressive.

This was an awesome episode with Andrea's monologue and, of course, parts of what led to Edmond's arrest. I have to say, I don't really remember if we had a chance to see how he used to look like in one of the previous episodes, but the moment I saw him now I thought it was Albert. They look suspiciously similar. Can't wait to see what the Count has planned for Fernando. And also what Albert has to say. Maybe he just wants to tell him he loves him no matter what, inspired by his friend's letter. That would be weird, but knowing Albert, it's very possible. If that happens I want to see a hug between those two, too!!!

As great as it is to see the Count's elaborate, malicious plan finally reaching the peak of its fruition, and as cool as his means of vengeance are, it... well, felt kind of rushed, TBH. Maybe an episode should've been spent for each of Danglars and Villefort instead of cramming the culmination of his vengeance upon both of them into a single episode.

Awesome episode nonetheless.

Albert's development felt really messy and rushed towards the end... He goes from admiring the Count, to hating him for "toying with his feelings", to instantly and miraculously forgiving everything he's done after reading a single letter, all in the span of two or three days...

The writing sure took a dip from episode 18 onward.

As a story, The Count of Monte Cristo is one of the best tales of revenge I've ever read, if just by how it builds up over the course of years, where The Count just savors every single moment he gets up until the final moments. We all know that The Count is Edmond Dantes early on, but the reveals to his targets truly makes the revenge come full circle. With the anime version, it even becomes more ironic, where Dangles was trapped with piles of gold and his money in a spaceship sent adrift while Villefort was convicted in a court of law where he used to serve. I mean, Villefort was even hit by poison, which was the very thing that began ruining his family. Plus, as an anime, it can take liberties like having The Count be seemingly possessed by a spirit of revenge, where it visually exerts intimidation while constantly eating away at his life. The act of revenge becomes extremely literal in this case, where it causes misfortune to everyone around The Count, including himself.

Sad but true.

Also true that someone said the Count's revenge is very rushed. These are the two biggest problems keeping the show from a hard 9 from me, and make me almost want to give it an 8 (I say this as someone who finished the series yesterday)

The incident regarding what actually happened to Edmond Dantes was finally put under light by the Count himself as he enacted the final acts of his revenge upon the men that had stolen his life from him and turned him into the monster he is today. His punishments for Danglars and Villefort were so ironic and poetic!

Danglars, a man controlled by avarice who had tried to escape with the money of thousands of people he had cheated off of during the stock market crash got exactly what he wanted and more when Edmond put him into a one-way trip to the endless void with all the gold he so desperately wanted to keep for himself. Villefort, a man of selective justice, was tried in a court of law and had his filthy secret and sordid affair revealed to the world by the very bastard son he tried to dispose of a full 17 years ago. It was already enough retribution for the Count to delight in the devastating humiliation of the Baroness and the former Crown Prosecutor but he had Benedetto go the extra mile by poisoning his father with a mind-rotting poison that will render him, someone whose most valuable possession is his intelligence, totally braindead.

As Albert and Edmond face together once again, Fernand had shown everyone that he'd gone completely insane and singlehandedly started a coup to gather what's left of his shattered reputation. What a mad lad.

Albert is probably going to pass on the lesson of not hating people to Edmound and of course the person life he just saved was his own fathers. It’s been very satisfying to see all of the counts co-conspirators get what they deserve. Also, the Andrea’s mom must be best friends with the floor because she stay on that thang a lot.
