Money, presumably. Gotta rake in the BiliBili money. Who cares if we lose the 10% of the fan base that actually care about the story's integrity, lol.

Honestly... I just realized that was a different Gintama Mameshiba from what I had watched. Guess I'm taking that off the list, lol.

I've only watched a few, but it seems to me that the simpler, less corporate ones are far more competent. I get the impression that the government has severely stunted their animation industry, making very little room for creativity on larger projects. When creative things do get really popular, I have a sneaking suspicion that a lot of creative control is taken away and given to producers and committees so they can milk IPs dry.

The thing I enjoyed the most about S1 was definitely its episodic nature. It also felt more down to earth. I can remember each arc of S1 fairly well... I can't say the same about S2. I also feel that the antagonist, after their mysterious and foreboding entry into the story at the end of S1, ends up pretty underwhelming in S2. As for S3, I feel that it is too short, convoluted, and confusing (the poor offical subtitles didn't help). Also, with each season, the number of absurdly bishi, edgy boys grows exponentially; Lu, Guang was just enough for me, lol.
