THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
I guess no one is safe in this anime? We got a death already and now Seizaki is even more conflicted in this case. However, I'm glad that he does have a logic mind and taking this case with a logic mind.

Every witness is important and honestly, I believe he has the right mind for a prosecutor.

This has a bit of a weird feeling to it - the way this show is set up. I like the visuals and music most of the time. Eerie feelling music sometimes. Then again that justice talk was a bit annoying - only to get the one char with that killed fast. Main thinking of him at the beginning of episode 2 ... okay. Then we were finished with that one.

But that woman they interrogated ... was pretty annoying. The overall plot hinted at seems like it could be very interesting. I like police stuff and especially if it is with big companies. (I guess they use some of their medical drugs to make people suicide.)

The way the plot is told ... not really to my taste. I hope we won't get just eerie music + weird suicides with some big reveal in the last 2-3 episodes. Steady progress would be better. At least the male main is good. Better than in that other police show Keishichi Tokumubu.

All right, I'm on board now.

The atmosphere captured me this time. Especially the interrogation was very intense. I liked how Emiko was playing with Zen and how elaborated it was.

They also end these episodes with crazy cliffhanger xD

Amazing direction on the interrogation.

Very much into this right now.

EDIT: I was also taken back by her leaving the building and him running after her, gave me big The Usual Suspects vibes.

my big question is why did the dude let the woman go? what kind of bullshit explanation is "he's not feeling good"?
>I had no brain when I was 12
>Then everyone must had no brain when they were 12
>I experimented 100 samples and proved that they had no brain when they were 12
>Therefore children cannot consent

This is what science has done to humanity.

One case of sidekick Fumio that isn't suicide but murder, isn't enough for the MC Seizaki. One after another, the cases become more convoluted to form one big picture.

Especially that interrogation, it was profoundly intriguing that the woman in question was creepypasta at best, with Seizaki questioning Emiyo that went awry. Logic vs. manipulation. The direction of that was totally well done, managed to seep my interest in the case.

Did you see the state he was in when Seizaki found him? It’s obvious he’s been charmed or hynotized in some manner.

Hell yeah, I'm on board now. The first episode felt pretty mediocre to me (except for maybe the last minute) but this episode was great. I loved the directing and editing, especially in the interrogation scene. But the presentation overall really picked up with this.

I hope this carries over into future episodes, if so, this has the potential to become a really really great series.

It's not the same VA. Their voices are actually very different.

The VA is revealed in the next episode's credits, and it's Yukino, Satsuki.

That questioning between Seizaki, and that woman was intense. She was kind of scary to be honest, and I can't help but feel that she was in control of the situation from the start. And she got away after asking about his family without signing her testimony, right? I feel like he was hasty with his approach, and it backfired. I wouldn't want to be in that situation for sure, I wonder if his superior knew that that politician would be there to hear the report too.

That woman is so unsettling...but I was intrigued the way she was twisting things around, and using logic against Seizaki. This series is starting to remind me a bit of Subete ga F ni Naru. Overall, quite serious, and both have intelligent female character/one who sees the world differently.

A lot of discourse into modern social structure during the interrogation. It might sound meaningless, but there is quite a dilemma presented in it. Overall it looks like your generic Japanese crime drama translated into an animated series. I am intrigued how well translated it will turn out to be.

It should be rather obvious by now that woman is a psychological warfare specialist and likely, if he series decides to go into that route, able to conduct hypnosis. This would explain how Fumio got murdered without anyone entering his apartment - before he left the girl from the 1st episode, that thot caught him and "talked him" into committing suicide. The same way she freed herself from the detention.

There is a good point in her twisting his logic. When he said that people with differentiating values should coexist he trapped himself - a person who loves and cherishes children and a person who enjoys seeing children suffering would never coexist in a functional society. Seizaki is a normal man who does not think too deep inside his own ideals, since he has them right and does his share to preserve the peace in his own society. But when deconstructed his ideals meet friction against his own simplified logic - that respecting others ideas is a must in modern world. And this happens on the background of a mass murder disguised as suicide, political strife and corruption on highest levels. Can he really respect those values, even when he is sitting right there trying to fight against them? Seizaki is a well-intentioned kind of hypocrite.

This episode was creepy as hell, but I really liked the style. In the first episode I thought that this anime was going to be a normal investigation series, but it seems like we are getting something different, more based on the psychological aspects. It’s always good to have something different

Awesome episode. The whole structure with the interregotation spread out in segments was really interesting.

Detaining her was a misstake everybody should have seen coming, a rash course of action. Obviously, there is more to her, I mean she managed to take control of everybody around her so easily.

I am still doubtful about the chief of the prosecution office. Yes, it could be the corrupt-cop-cliché but the way he behaves he should be a good guy. Budging just enough to not get destroyed by the system yet still fighting the fight for justice. Zen just did not get any of the hints that he was stiring things up in an unfavourable way...

That interrogation must have been very frustrating for Zen, I don't envy his position. However, I am very concerned that he shared all that information with Emiko. She is a very intelligent woman, to say the least, and she can use the information for profiling and strategies to thwart Zen in the investigation. Let's hope she has a conscience or Zen and his family could be in deep trouble.
As for the imperial council...., where to start to express my dismay!!! What is the way forward given that he is reporting the state of the investigation to the subject of the investigation?! I am at the same time horrified and intrigued.

the plot thickens. that woman was so manipulative. hopefully Seizaki's family won't get hurt. the end of the episode felt a bit like a betrayal since the mayor candidate was there. i could be wrong but i felt like that he wasn't supposed to be there judging by Seizaki's surprise when he saw him. looking forward to the next episode!

Holy shit, well that was one hell of an episode.

That twist in the end made me think Seizaki is all alone in this one big political investigation farce.
And how did he allow that shady woman to turn around his interrogation in her favor? Bitch. She ended up questioning him instead.

I root for Seizaki. I hope he gets alive from this thight mess he's currently found himself into.

Try something legal, like Crunchyroll or Netflix... or something less legal like a certain "gogoganime" website. Avoid viruses.

Dang, I liked that a lot more than the first. Music, direction (sorta like Bakemonogatari which is some of the best directing I've seen in anime), and sound are all great. I'd still like to know a bit more about the characters, but the story and suspense have made up for that so far. I love the chief too and can't wait to see how the MC deals with the meeting (hopefully he takes the chief's advice because that was pretty smart knowing now that the candidate dude is there). 5/5

This was so well done!

I love the way the girl managed to stay clam and have complete control of the conversation. It would be quite a thrill when she gets defeated later.

I had my doubts about the boss, and it just increased when Donald Trump showed up at the end.

Kind of wondering how awful someone needs to be to kill a character played by Ono Kensho.

It's more like he just wasn't prepared for this type of conversation because most normal people don't encounter her BS reasoning.
Because answer is very simple coexist is possible until it not harms others eg.
I can coexist with fans of lolis until it will be fictional young girls.
Same with guns, I "hate" them but if someone is using them responsible then I will not have problem with that.

Directing got much better than ep1, and some nifty transition & framing.
Quite a high level manipulative psycho that Seizaki had to deal with, and falling into that philosophical discussion.
A lot of questions near the end. Feels like his boss actually knew Nomura would join the meeting, or suddenly everyone turned against Seizaki to save their own position.
