THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
I'm not sure why Ichise's reaction to getting artificial limbs was so strong, but I'm guessing that it's because Organo (which seems to control Texhnolyzation) killed his father and/or refused to Texhnolyze his mother.

Then again, why would Organo allow Ichise to get the operation in the first place? Judging by his unstable and violent nature, and the fact that they just chopped his limbs off, they seem to be asking for Ichise to go on a murderous rampage against them with his shiny new limbs.

I really didn't get what was the relation between the artificial limbs and in his mother. Though it's nice to see that Ichise's background was touched in this episode and will probably be develloped.

Still in mode 'wtf is happening' but I really love this high tense atmosphere.

That is one long train ride! :) Onishi mentioned something about Union being flesh fundamentalists so Organo is diametrically opposite to it as Texhnolyze. I'm curious what Raffia is? Maybe a Union biotechnology?

I don't think that they "allow" it. It's more like the blond girl s doing it on her whim. Anyway, this episode was easier to watch and didn't bring this much questions - just an average portion of them.

Kinda.

As I guessed, Texhnolyze is original anime, meaning it's not a manga adaptation. There is something in the art styles of animes who are not based on manga - the lines, probably even the colors differ. What ya' know.

You seem to know a lot about the show. Did you learn this just by watching the first three episodes?

Texhnophile. I didn't really get the issue with the boy's mother either, nor what raffia is. I love the animation style, and the slow pacing of the anime. I think this is definitely a series to watch a second time. I may just watch this disc over again before I return it to Netflix. Does anyone know of any other anime forums that discuss shows episode by episode? This is the best one I've found.

This third episode was ok, Raffia seems something important in Texhnolyze world, and we also discovered that the leader of the flesh fundamentalists (Union) may also have artificial limbs, at least that's what Onishi said.

I just didn't get why did the blond girl used what seemed to be the remains of Ichise's mother to build the leg and the arm. Hopefully in the next few episodes it will be a little bit more clearer.

Enjoying the show so far.

Ichise sure didn't look to happy about a new leg and arm. I'm curious why that blond doctor would help him just like that, for free.

The doctor is definitely interesting.
Cold, calculating, confident...
Like she has nothing to lose.
I guess her research is what keeps her going, and toying with Ichise is exciting for her.

WTF THE MC CAN TALK? Damn, I thought he was a mute.

Lel. This dude is a straight up misogynist. You'd think he'd stop attacking women so haphazardly after what happened last time....

I'm really confused about what's up with his mother and the unit.

I don't usually comment on individual episodes. There isn't much to say about one piece of the puzzle. But I really liked how the Doc got Ichise to accept his new limbs. So beautifully devious. That's why I'd single out this episode. (For the record, I'm on ep5 of Texhnolyze).

Interesting. I wonder why the blond doctor helps him out, even though she's clearly doing some work for Organo. And I really appreciate how it's his mothers cells that are being used as circuitry for the Texhnolyzed limbs. The arrogant Organo leader is going to regret letting this guy live not once, but twice!

That's one long train ride! And smily guy is definitely up to no good if he's asking the girl to never tell anyone about his future.

I'm enjoying this series more than I expected.

Why the hell can't he just swallow his pride for a second and take the arm and leg? With them (which seem to be a new fancier version) he could probably wreck the dumb @#$% that got his arm (and consequently his leg) cut off in the first place.

Man Ichise gets treated like shit. A good heartfelt backstory. Seems like he wants to avenge his father ( who got killed being involved with the Raffia I guess).
So there are cult groups like Organo under Onishi (who permits texhnolyzing) and the flesh fundamentalists, under Kimura. As usual the leaders involve common people for their dirty work (the town looks in shambles, explains why people may be fooled in believing them).
I wonder how Ran and Yoshii will play a part in this. Also, is Raffia some sort of technological supreme thingy(?).
Anyways, great episode.

I really felt for the MC when he was just so dead inside and when he was trying to get the water but ended up knocking it over. I wonder how the new special texhnolyze limbs that the girl is going to give him are going to work? Maybe he'll be really strong and OP.

Her obsession to turn Ichise into a Texhnolyzed being - befits the title of this episode: Texhnophile. The blurring and superimpositions of the images and scenes of his flashback was extremely powerful, emphaissing the vagueness and enigma of his past by itself. The dystopian-esque future can only serve to enhance the overall effect, a organised crime-running state in which the poor really just fight to survive, as 'dogs' of the mafioso.

The tech setting involving Raffia and Texhnolyze is a cool concept which act as the fundamental to the entire 'fight-to-survive' background to this anime; cliched, but decent in its own right. The particular technology which really strikes me the most is the concept of keeping the cells of a dead alive as a form of 'funeral' for those who cannot even afford a burial. It is highly uncanny and 'screwed-up', although something which seemingly becomes useful when one 'assimilates' with it in the form of Texhnolyze. Highly unorthodox. Now I really want to know her motives for 'rescuing' Ichise. To 'save' this world?

Damn. a naked dude with one arm and one leg just tackled that doctor woman.

Very confusing when Ichise and Doc were talking about "it" the whole time before it was revealed that they were talking about Ichise's mother's cells-- which were used to create a set of tex'd limbs. Didnt catch that the first time I watched this a year ago.

-----

A very interesting difference between Texhnolyze and Ergo Proxy is the way they present information. Both series give the viewer a lot of information to process each episode. In Ergo Proxy, there is a little more information you have to pick up from conversations, than the information you have to pick up by watching for visual cues. The balance is probably 60-40 or 70-30ish. However, in Texhnolyze, this audio vs visual info balance is knocked way into the visual side. There is very little conversation, so almost all of the information you are given to process, you have to pick up by concentrating on what is actually happening visually. The ratio is probably 20-conversational, 80-visual. If you take your eyes of the screen, or if your eyes glaze over and you dont understand something you saw, then you are bound to miss something important.

So he WAS trying to preserve his severed limbs, the look on his face when he found out he couldn't connect them though. Although, this is a world where people replace parts with Texhnolyze (I'm guessing that's the name of the technology in their prostheses) so we know where this is heading.

I guess the title suggests the blonde doctor is a Texhnophile, so thats her hobby/obsession. I hope she was drinking wine and eating a steak not some human flesh shit :O

Im still not 100% sure if they cut his limbs as a punishment for hitting the texhnolyzed women who abused him.
Raffia seem to be smth like a higher class/nobles.

I started this show back in July 2015, put it on hold indefinitely (I might have even dropped it at first).

Until the other day, I wasn't sure I would ever pick Texhnolyze back up. But, being quite depressed and in the mood for a bleak show, I dived back in to this show. Ep 1 intrigued me more than it did the first time I saw it nearly 2 years ago, but still it did not impress all that much. Episode 2 was definitely stronger, but it ended when it got really interesting.
Then comes episode 3, and damn, I am hooked. I had no memory of this episode whatsoever, even though I got to episode 4 back in 2015 apparently. This is strange; you would think I would remember something this enthralling. Back then I obviously didn't care for it much though; perhaps it's because I was only 15 and didn't understand it in the least? It also helps that I have really good speakers now so I can fully appreciate the very good english dub.

Well anyways, we still don't know too much about the plot but the main character has a burning passion for something-- not sure if it's revenge or what, but it has to do with his mom. If you can't tell by my Guts avatar, I love rageful characters, so his burning passion definitely caught me. The other guy in that white suit owning those two armed punks with only a sword was badass, as well; I'm a huge fan of swordsmen beating the shit out of gun users :P Kind of my own little fantasy as a sword guy haha.

But yeah, I am a very different person now than I was two years ago; I have gone through a lot and changed. I'm not necessarily grown up, but I would say I can appreciate more complex works of art. So I say, bring it on, Texhnolyze!

Btw, that blonde doctor lady really turns me on for some reason. She can step on me anytime.

If I got this right, the container was containing Raffia, cell material of his dead mother.

The Doc took the Raffia and combined it with the Texhnolyze limbs, this is kinda messed up.

Ooookay! I tend to take breaks watching this show because it eats away so much of my time. It's not bad by any means, but it's a lot of effort to try and digest what's going on.

What's the new stuff well, as always I'll spoiler tag it because I wrote an essay.

I love the art and atmosphere of this show. It's show don't tell format is very engaging and fun to dissect and digest. The soundtrack is breathtaking, that jazzy song that played when Ichise attacked the Doc was phenomenal.

That was one of the better flashback segments I've seen in an anime. Touched upon both his past witnessing the lynching of his father and the subsequent toll it had on his mother who died as a result, the scene at what appears to be a mortuary and then the events that preceded this scene in episodes one and two.

The sound is what struck me the most. This anime so far is masterful in the way it sets the depressing atmosphere and bleek tone. It's simply sublime, which seems like a weird word to use because the tone itself is anything but. But sublime in the sense it flows perfectly. I knew the auditory aspect of the show would be great ever since i watched the opening of the show. I mean it's goddamn Juno Reactor. But this is simply masterful. From the sudden clacks and other various noises that enhance the sharpness of the scenes to the depressingly gloomy cacophony of sound that sets the monotonous nature of the show perfectly. Very good job.

I'm also really enjoying the scenes with Ran and Kozuho Yoshii. Great dialogue between the two. I can only imagine myself in Kozuho's position, sitting next to a girl whose seen his future. I think i'd react the same way. Better off not knowing. The guy looks so damn chill too which kind of offsets and minimises the trauma we see on the expressions of Ichise. An example is when he sees his arm flung at him right after the incident with the water. It's cruel, and we can see that explicitly in Ichise's eyes and through his mouth with those frequent gasps for air. Then it's followed by Kozuho casually chilling, staring out of the train window.

Recommend me some short Manga!

English: Kazuho and Ran built up a good dialogue about the boy's future. What will he do in the city anyway? Organ seems to be suffering from internal and external struggles and conflicts, and the "texhnolyzes" are key to what is happening.

It makes me very sad to see Ichise being conflicted and mentally tortured after what happened. Of course, the show has not yet evidently shown what Organ's causes were in having him punished, much less what Keigo's relationship is with the protagonist. The scene of him, Ichise and the doctor was a very interesting moment within the show. It's a bit confusing, but it's mostly intriguing.

------------------------------
