The thing I seek most in fiction is the stories being told. If art, animation, or music is incredible I only care about it on a deep level if it helps facilitate that in most cases. Keep in mind if there is no note listed on the anime or manga it means I watched it long ago and my opinion on it could be radically different if I reread or rewatched it.
10 & 9 - These are reserved for anime and manga which hold a special place in my heart. That is, series that influenced me greatly, and series I often find myself thinking about.
8 - This score is one which could be applied to something with perfect characters, story, themes, all you could ever imagine, however, it lacked the connection with me that 9 & 10's have. Nonetheless, series which still resonate with me.
7 - This score denotes that I enjoyed the series a lot, it moved me, and I had few qualms with it, but there was something which bothered me.
6 - Where a series wasn't striking, it still offered a good time, be it good characters or good ideas, I enjoyed it but probably won't think about it too much.
5 - Something which is acceptable, I can read or watch it and it passes the time. Perhaps it has few notable ideas that resonated with me but not many.
4 - Akin to a 5 point but a problem which made it fall below acceptable and made it slightly irritating while still being something I could find some joy in.
3 - Whereas I found this series largely flawed, there was still some heart to it and I could appreciate that.
2 - At this point, I'll take anything I can get, a good scene once in awhile, cool character designs, something which I can jive with.
1 - This score is reserved for things which I saw no appeal in whatsoever and that means it's rare and probably designated for rare kinds of stories.
I must still keep searching then. 3 to 4 sounds like a good number honestly, I think my group had like 5 or 6 and one session entirely was just preparing and even then that was still pretty fun. I am optimistic about it though, I feel like eventually an opportunity will present itself and hopefully I will take notice of it. I still feel like I need to iron out somethings when it comes to my writing and description skills.
Have you always been interested in RPing style games or is it more of a recent acquisition? Is it a big group as well?
The group I had was pretty much strangers to me but they seemed to know each other beforehand so it was a little nerve wracking to essentially be the new person in the group and not really have a frame of reference.
Of course! I can always give you more specific ones but I was big into mecha(still am but my watching of it depends on what is subbed and if anything new is coming around) and whatever you end up watching I hope you enjoy it.
I will keep on looking until I can find a group or a person to DM or play with. Though I kind of want to know the person/group good enough that I trust them with their creativeness as well as my creativeness. I don't want it to be so random group and have people just be rude or such. Courage may falter but my interest stays regardless of the time. Make that a quote if you wish, but that is just how I feel.
I would honestly just say anything I have watched or plan to watch is pretty much most of my recommendations. I heavily recommend Zambot 3 and Ideon(only so you can watch the movie Be Invoked). Gurren Lagann is pretty much a required watching, though your mileage might vary. Ginga Senpuu Braiger is on my top 10 list and I wrote a review about it and I always recommend that to mecha folks. Feel free to watch Turn A Gundam whenever you want honestly, I watched it pretty early on but I don't think that hampered my enjoyment of it honestly. When it comes to mecha you can't really be too picky you will come to find out. The biggest barriers is if the thing is translated and is it full. Though beware of old shows like Mazinger Z and the Original Getter Robo as they are really products of their time in both in animation and storytelling. Lots of episodes with a barely moving/continuing plot. I suggest the manga versions if you want the basics of the plots. I also recommend Votoms but it has to be watched in a specific order as release order actually screws things up and leaves you with questions. When you get around to it, DM me and I can send you the list if need be. The tv show by itself doesn't answer every question but the series in total answers all you need.
I would say it has been especially hard right now considering how the world is. I was kind of lucky to get into fighting games when I did and I really appreciate the amount of time and dedication I was able to put into them given my current situation at that time. It is something that weights on my mind quite a bit but I feel like I have said that quite a bit at this point in time. cx
I think we can force ourselves into being "skilled" or "liking" something but I feel that is just more going against the grain. Of course there might be talent in those who start as a person with a really low quality of skill in something, but like everything it kind of goes on a case by case basis. I've always wanted to try DMing but again getting people together and all the stuff that comes with it has me a bit intimidated. Perhaps one day. DnD has always been fun in the small amounts of time I have played it. Something about all the freedom is what makes those kind of games fun.
