I don't even know where this show is heading, the title alone made an impression that an end of the world is coming, yet this is what we get, really Maeda? maybe you should just retire from writing the same formula over and over and do something different.

And the whole show is being perfectly described by this simple screenshot

Well that was mildly infuriating to watch

What the hell is he even trying to do? It's like he's doing everything wrong he possibly could. He keeps shouting and being far too up-close with her, he focuses on what's going on in the game rather than how Hina is feeling, he inexplicably seems to think Hina would be better off with him than in a high end clinic specially designed for treating patients like her and overall it's like he's only thinking about himself. I know he's just a naïve teenager driven by emotion in the end but fuck this shouldn't be so hard to understand

Also I hate how the anime is seemingly trying to angle this as if he's attempting some sort of rescue mission here rather than just fucking up Hina's life if he goes ahead with this. What could he possibly do to help her on his own realistically? The only solution here would be some stupid asspull where Hina suddenly remembers who he is and then suddenly goes completely back to normal or similar, which again would make no sense at all and I wouldn't be surprised if it goes that way, but it sure as hell wouldn't make the story any better, quite the opposite in fact

Okay so is Youta retarded? Did he skip a few grades or something because that's the most immature handling of someone in the state Hina's in possible. Why the fuck is this dude screaming and shouting at the top of his lungs when she's so easily frightened and upset? Why the fuck is he being so hyper? And he does it fucking again and again like that's what he wants to do, even after she has reacted negatively to such behaviour before. Who the fuck let this dumb fuck in the facility, thank God they'll probably kick him out next episode because this dude can not be trusted to know what's right for Hina. Lmao idc if he means well, if he's dumb enough to do whatever the fuck he was doing this episode, then it's better for him to stay away from Hina until she's recovered (and she is recovering, thanks to the caretaker woman)

I mean it's not even the same kind of problems Maeda's shows have had in recent years tbh. The tone shift of "first half comedy, second half drama" is the same, but the biggest downfall of his previous works has been serious pacing issues in their second halves. Now I'm not gonna pretend the pacing here is perfect either (the episode where Hina first got taken away was hella rushed), but this particular episode is just fucked up by all-round idiotic behaviour and rationale, which isn't quite the same as the gripes I've had with his previous works. Dunno if that's any better or worse but it's not good either way

Ya know, it was kinda funny that lady isn't questioning Yota earlier if he's the real deal or a fake in that facility, I mean the way he acted, would've have been a red flag that he ain't a real employee in that facility.

How will this series end? Im excited to know wheter this will have a good ending or a bad ending...

Anyways i feel.bad for Youta... Its just hurt to watch this episode. And is it true that its just the machine Hina (AI) that they are with before and not the real Hina?

Next week is the last episode so lets see what will happen on this one.

Meh. This protagonist, I can't even.

Not only he is blowing his cover all the time, shouting/scaring her, he is also forcing him on herself without any patience.

And wtf was that calling session when everyone told him how they like them? 'Now cry' forced scene, I wonder?

Sadly, it didn't really work. And I no longer even get what this is all about. Is Maeda trying bring up some critique to children care houses in Japan? Clearly, he's not doing all that for impactful story.

The trainwreck continues. Prepare your head for massive series of facepalms in the next last episode.

== Hina's Daily Schedule ==

06:30	-	Wake up
06:45	-	Massage (to prevent muscle deterioration)
07:15	-	Breakfast
08:00	-	Learning
11:45	-	Lunch
13:00	-	Walk outside
15:00	-	Free time
18:00	-	Dinner
19:00	-	Toilet training + Bathtime
21:00	-	Bedtime

Holy shit. I actually really liked today's episode.
Sorry episode 5 and Izanami fans, "Days of Play" was much better. I can finally give a "5/5 loved it" rating to an episode of this show now.

Sure, the impact of this episode would have been much better had the supporting cast of the whole show been more interesting and more developed than cardboard cut-outs, yes Yota still does some dumb moves with him screaming and stuff, and yes I did admittedly smirk when the word "bad" was literally plastered all over the screen for dramatic effect (sorry couldn't help it lol)... but this show finally has an episode that actually worked on an emotional level for the most part. It didn't feel overly rushed or forced, the tone of each scene felt relatively appropriate, the episode took its time showing us what Hina's new life has been like in an effective way, and we even got a little bit of interesting character development for the side character introduced in the last episode—even if she still does feel like the skeptical, disapproving and possibly overprotective character that I've seen before in older stories where a main character has to prove themselves.
I didn't cry, but this episode actually feels like it works at what it was trying to do.
I don't cry whenever I watch something (though a few shows/games have gotten me close to tearing up) anyway.

As with the end of the last episode, this episode kinda reminded me of the 2004 anime Uta∽Kata. We are once again treated to Yota calmly narrating what is going on in the episode as well as his inner thoughts, while some melancholic and/or calm music is played throughout the whole episode to add to the mood—such creative decisions here are not unlike most of Uta∽Kata. I feel like I should also note that the best instance of this for this episode of Kamisama ni Natta Hi is particularly during the cold open, where Yota describes Hina's daily routine with fairly limited but practical wording.
There is even a scene where
I guess I'll have to make a user recommendation between these two anime later haha.

But yeah, anyway, like with some previous episodes, this episode has some good ideas, but unlike those episodes I feel like these were actually executed well.
I really like the aforementioned cold open, which does a decent job at making you feel sad for the current situation that Hina is in. I really liked the scene where Yota gets some wholesome phone calls and text messages that gives him emotional support during his brief moment of doubt, and it was cute seeing him draw pictures of his family and friends for Hina.
I hate to rain on the parade here though... even though I did like these moments, I feel like they could have so much better had the show actually developed these characters more, or at least make them more interesting. You can replace these characters with literally anyone and it would probably have the same effect on the story, which I'd say is not a good thing. I'm very sure that the lack of a decent supporting cast will be the main criticism of the MAL reviews for this show once it finishes airing.
Back to more positives, Hina continues to be probably the most stand-out character of this whole entire show even with her current (saddening) circumstances. I felt appropriately worried when Hina expressed distress, I was fascinated by Hina's newfound interest in astrology (and perhaps mythology as well, but that's not that much of a surprise coming from an ex-"goddess", now is it lol), I laughed when Hina dismissively tossed away the picture of Yota, and I was genuinely happy when Yota finally made Hina smile again—though that was long after he did a lot stupid shit that would obviously trigger her and somehow gets surprised by her reactions. I like that Hina's interest in video games is reincorporated into the show, as Yota decides to use video games in his quest to catch Hina's attention. He made some more loud screaming and somehow continues to ignorantly do so (for some unknown reason, he somehow thinks she's crying from messing up in the game and not from his frickin loud ass screaming), but he does eventually figure out what approach to take after he watches Shiba interact with her, and it was nice of him to stay up and go through tedious RPG grinding sessions so that Hina wouldn't have any more trouble. The aforementioned calm/melancholic background music is great as well; I really like that a piano arrangement of the ED theme was playing when Yota shows Hina his hand-drawn cards.
Also, Shiba receives some interesting character development about her past and why she is in the sanatorium, though it feels fairly limited like with the brief character development both Ashura and Kyouko got for their episodes. In any case, this episode feels like a proper Key episode—which is a compliment if you couldn't already tell. :)

Though it looks like Yota's false identity got discovered real quickly...

Youta is worse at learning than Hina currently is... He just keeps acting like a total spaz because that makes Hina upset and if Hina's upset then this story is sad and Maeda wanted this to be "his saddest work yet"... It feels very forced, is what I'm getting at.

Wonder what's going to happen next week, though.

Youta from being a like able protagonist to dislike able protagonist... I'm about to praise that all Jun Maeda protagonist is like able and so decent than lot of another protagonist (Except for Kanon and Air since I haven't watch them), but this anime is just far worse than his earlier works...

I hate Youta since last episode and this episode . He 'love' Hina but he so forceful and so mean toward poor Hina. One more episode left won't change this anime reputation. Angel Beat, Clannad, Little Buster and Charlotte are still better and sadder than this.

Yeah, I felt that her backstory was very sudden and weirdly placed. Though I guess we had to get it somewhere if we are to believe that she's essentially wanting to "replace her daughter with Hina" like some users are saying.

I feel like Youta being a dumbass here is intentional. I mean, you have Shiba telling him to knock it off multiple times, and she gets suspicious of him enough to where she does some digging (though you could say that she should have done this earlier).
It's like how Suzuki is an asshole, but I still like him as a character. If only his backstory was not so sudden either.

Youta's being an insensitive idiot, but I kind of like that he's being an insensitive idiot? If that makes sense.

I think Jun Maeda calling this the saddest anime ever only put some unnecessarily high expectations on this show cause so far it ain't it chief. It's still a decent to good show but it ain't no masterpiece.

Seeing Hina like that is p a i n. And Yota not shutting up for a damn second in the first half is also p a i n. Though he understood eventually to be less aggressive and I get how he feels but, it's still annoying lmao. His friends calling him was heartwarming though, I really liked that.

I thought the pacing was fine... until now. With one episode left I wonder how they'll wrap it up.

I've seen enough drama to predict when will this going into

There's 3 possibility
Although two of them already been told by comments before me, i'll tell the third one

What if Youta is the one who's dead, in front of Hina, while take her out from that facility, get shot by some guards
Then Hina go depressed (there's two divergences in this, either Hina would totally goes mental breakdown and wait for him like he'll comeback someday till she's dead, or she killed herself.... Err slowly by self-starving?)

Okay. Finally i had been able to see Youta's effort to brought back Hina to herself.

Its not an easy route, obviously. When the things started out resulting something good, there were always be an obvious obstacles that surely arrived to make everything to be even harder. Thats the role of those lady caretaker, Shiba-san. She seemed to not willing to seen Hina get taken over by someone else who was more concerned. Her interest was out of bounds already, and it made it difficult for Youta to moving forward. Because she managed to see the truth of Youta's true identity. Oh well, its right. Thats the bad situations. Youta's quest got even more difficult. Its not only taken Hina back to herself. But, he need to convince Shiba too into his side, before everything are too late, and then, game over for Hina and their connections. There are not much choice left. Youta must choose something extreme to prevent any bad route.

Even the support from everyone seems very vague due to Youta's situations there. However, their indirectly support shall be able to make Youta motivated to do his best. It can be seen by his effort to observed first, then doing an action. His step was pretty much better, adapted late with his current situations. Because, yeah, pretty much Youta was naive enough to clear the mission with those kind of 'not so convincing' personality. As the time slowly tickling, he changed in a good direction. He was the person that slowly changed better over the time. By learning to understand Hina's favorite activities, observed, then understanding Shiba's way of dealing with Hina, and in the end, the hard work of him paid off actually. Until Shiba felt that oddity and revealed a surprising information ....

So, with one episode left, i am still hoping something epic arrive. Either some heroic action, or even an emotional stepping up in order to make Hina back to herself. I am still hoping some ace card that Youta has there. Especially with the promises of Tengan that might be helpful. And then, Suzuki too. I am still hoping him to be a difference to saves Youta from that bad situations.

Lets see the last one!

I am about to drop my rating from a 5 to a 4 purely because of Yota’s bullshit

Not bad. Just get Hina to remember Youta already, this tone shift doesn't work at all. Also Youta is a dumbass lol

Desperation, and being scared of running out of time, plus he didn't got to see her for whole year...as an anime character and according to his personality I think it works...I have no complaints...I have watched anime for a daem long time now, I don't need anyone's friking lame @$$ judgement about what their own fricking taste goes good with, they should just stick to their fricking shounen,or high school love comedy whatnot's...even if I am the only one in this fricking universe this one was pretty good show for me, I would say not for teenagers, I don't think you understand but not all the show is about being fricking cool or trying to elope with each other in most ravishing way in the name romance and cr@p, well what can you expect most of the times anime is targeted to teenage audience, that's how they make sales, just need to lur all the horny teenage kids with big bazookas and whatnot, I know this cause I have been through the same, well all I can say is it's not the right time for you...I have seen dozens and dozens of animes now, so I know what I am talking about, everytime you grow by a year or two your way of thinking changed with, that's why don't be shocked when you will be laughing at your past self.

Thank you. I couldn't stop rolling my eyes reading some people replies here. I feel relieved to know I'm not alone to have a foot in the reality realm.

Its really hard to watch seeing Youta forcing himself for Hina to smile...when he's actually not and that only makes her cry.

Atleast he made Hina smile in the end as he leveled up her character in the game. But for some reason, the lady found out something sus about Yota that doesn't align with his 'identity". And with that his true identity is now revealed...I like how the security guard just says "No" to Yota.

And the line of the episode (and the series as a whole): This is bad.

One thing I'm confused by here. In the episode with Hina's father, he said the disease she has is incurable and supposed to be fatal at a young age. This facility doesn't seem to be treating her or the other kids as if they expect them to die in the near future though, likewise Yota seems to have forgotten about it, they're only really focusing on her mental condition.

When Yota got annoyed at the father for refusing to let Hina back in his life, he replied that "The day will come when you understand. You may well go through the same thing."
That seems like foreshadowing for the ending. I can't see him ever abandoning Hina like the father did, so perhaps that means he's going to come to accept that the Hina he knew is gone, but unlike the father he'll stay with the sick Hina for however long she has left. Although I don't know how he's gonna do it now his cover's blown.

Agree with you and everyone else that Yota's behavior is more painful than Hina's condition, as well as that's there's nowhere good to go from here. Any kind of recovery he can actually achieve from this position is going to be completely ridiculous, and that was before the episode ending added more time pressure. A total failure could maybe be interesting, but that's an ending that looks best after everyone does everything they can. Yota is an idiot and failed cause he's an idiot is frustrating.

Youta needs to be more considerate, it's really annoying every time he starts to raise his voice or shake Hina. But the nurse isn't exactly in the right either by calling Hina a machine and making Youta seem evil.

What do you think are the most important things in life? Money, dreams, sympathy towards others...

Yes, they're all important things as well... But the most important thing is responsibility for your own actions.

What the fuck? Why is he bothering Hina so much? She is clearly in pain whenever he grabs her and gets in her face. I have no clue why the nurse is just letting him do that. The worst part is the show is treating him like he's Hina's hero. It's so unaware of how he's messing up her recovery. I can't even imagine how they'll end this without her randomly getting her memories back or dying.

(Except for Kanon and Air since I haven't watch them),

Air's protagonist is great; he's playful and fun...but also moody so he makes a face like T_T during shenanigans and he is able to figure things out WAY faster than Youta also he's total EYECANDY He is my favorite Key boy by a long shot. Yukito is SO much cooler than Youta, it's pathetic.

^Trying to steal Haruko's bike. xD
