I have never heard anyone say U&T is his worst lol. It’s his popular and iconic, especially in Japan. The manga sold 33 million copies in Japan, and has statues of Tora somewhere and even the Japanese Cultural Affair’s Agency ranked it as one if the best manga of all time...

Now that doesn’t speak on the quality of the manga (personally I think it’s pretty great) but to say it’s his worse I would say is untrue. Also Karakuri isn’t his most popular either it’s his longest series but it’s not his most popular in comparison to U&T’s 33 million copies sold, Karakuri ended up selling 15 millio. It’s more of a cult classic amongst Japanese fans compared to the iconic status of U&T.

I can’t say which is Fujita’s best as I haven’t finished U&T and I’m only watching Karakuri’s anime (mainly due to the fact the manga hasn’t been fully translated) but I’ll get back to you on that some day.

Famous and popular doesn't mean better. And I haven't say that U&T was bad.
Just that people who read all Fujita's works prefer Moonlight and Karakuri. ;) I speak only about my acquaintance. ^^

I said that its popularity didn’t mean it was better lol. And I didn’t say that you said it was bad... I simply said I don’t agree with you saying it’s his worse, but I never said that you said it was bad.

That’s great and all but from being around I’ve never heard anyone say it’s his worst.

interesting first episode sure as hell felt like a 90s anime music was damn good too.

wondering after people saying this gets dark like how dark are we talking here opening scene felt more over the top in a jojo way but then the aftermath of the train was much more grounded in reality so was surprised to see that.

Wow just wow, I'm totally impressed by this, my jaw dropped. I'm really digging this one! this is by far my favorite release this season! I've gotta say, I haven't seen something similar to this (unless Book of Circus counts as "similar"

I'm kinda perplexed at how this has 7.43 Average score in MAL, but well.

This was really nice. I haven't read the manga but from experience, 43 volumes in 36 episodes is really pushing it I think, if there's no sequel this is bound to become rushed at some point.

Is this done by the creator of Ushio to Tora? Because it looks and feels kinda like that series

Other than that, I liked what I saw....This puppet thing should be a lot of fun and so far I like our 3 leads...Animation is pretty good as well.

But that dude's disease is scary =/

I feel satisfied that I waited for this anime to come out.
When the PV's came out I thought: Wow that animation is so good, the characters have a design very well done and the design of the puppet is insanely cool. Well now I corroborate what I thought at that time, I loved the animation and I get hooked, the work they did is very good quality, the action sequences are an example of it, the characters are excellently designed, obviously Shirogane enchanted me, her agility and grace in addition to how she controls Arlequin, I loved the design of the puppet.
My expectations were fulfilled and I can say that I look forward to this anime.
Next week there will be a fight between puppet users, I hope that the quality that was there today will continue next episode.

That Narumi guy has a disease of making people laugh no matter what, that is one messed up disease. I'm loving the characters and it seems like a good show too.

I guess I will stick with it for now.

At least it's not A1 Picture who take the cake.

Anything that's not Sword Art Online, A1 did a half ass job.
Persona 5 Anime adaptation is atrocious.

Persona 5 anime adaptation has nothing to do with A-1. It's animated by Cloverworks which is just a sister company of them since it's also owned by Aniplex.

I can't be the only one here who thinks of Kurapika when I seeing Shirogane (hairstyle+weapon on fingers)?

Anyhow, it was a decent start. Quite a surprise a non-famous sequel is getting a 3-cour. Will definitely look for more in the future.

This episode made a good impression for me. I really like the premise, we got this guy who gets seizures when he doesn't make people laugh. The kid and the adult relationship kinda gives me Ushio & Tora vibes. The puppet fights has me intrigued! Not only that, it's gonna be 3 cours!!! Yuki Hayashi is composing the music (his famous work: MHA). I'm gonna enjoy this one.

This anime has the potential to be better than My Hero Academia and taking its Shounen spot. Which I hope it does. Characters are likable. Pace is just about right so things don't feel rushed. Animation is fine. The use of the puppets is unique. OP/ED are clean.

I can't believe so few people watching this!
(Seriously, Mal has the tendency to ignore good shows and watch overhyped trash like Darling in the Franxx/ Food Wars 3rd arc)

Even though it's adapted from an old manga, the animation and production quality is so good!
(Definitely better than the two hot potatoes this season -> Goblin Slayer and Slim)
The combat is super stylish and fluid, and the premise is very intriguing.

I don't get why this show doesn't get much attention this season.
I heard the original source is a classic series too, and so far the story , and production value are very promising, and the casts are great.
I like all of them already from just one episode! (Quick note, I despise all the casts in Darlining the Franxx from first episode and like them less and less as the story progress)

Would definitely watch this.
Food wars and Darlin r not trash just cuz MAL overhype something dont mean ppl r gonna like it if the series is trash! it wont be as popular by the end of the day if the series is boring! is all on the viewers!

Yeah. This was great. Expected this to be great since Ushio and Tora was also great. I was quite fond of that one, so looking forward to the rest of Karakuri Circus. And 36 episodes? holy shit. This Studio VOLN seems to be pretty small, having only done 5 works(or at least that's what it says on MAL), but they clearly have some decent funding for Karakuri Circus. Not to mention the animation so far isn't bad at all. Amazon money? Do they have a prime time slot? Government funded? I have no idea, but 36 episodes is amazing.

Also lol at that strange disease.

Anyway, this is quite the trashy anime season, but at least there are a few gems out there.

well after doing research... studio VOLN is actually made by ex-madhouse producer and director... so that's why it has familiar art style and animation....

Some impressive animation on the fights, a good presentation of the villains, some charismatic (albeit a bit tropey) main characters, made by a studio with a good chunk of the old Madhouse talent...

This could be and amazing series, let's wait and see. It's a shame shows like SAO, Tokyo Ghoul and Goblin Slayer came out this season and hog quite a bit of the hype, because this deserves more attention.

Damn, this was a brilliant and odd first episode! Really enjoyed the subtle and abrupt changes in direction every now and then, it just felt so natural oddly enough. Even then, I wish they don’t resort to this means for later episodes as it could possibly downgrade the show.

First impressions of the show are solid thus far, I hope the production value and storyline will keep the series interesting and as engaging as this introductory episode throughout its course. Masaru’s situation seems like a little weird to come to terms with and the whole “puppets” premise so far was just thrown in. I’m curious to know more about the family circumstances and whatnot, the Grandfather there hinted something bad so I’m looking forward to seeing more info on that. Not fully into his character, just yet. But the other two seem really interesting so far, Narumi the typical but intriguing main character and Shirogane the caring but badass female lead. For now, I only hope the Characters don’t become monotonous and start to accept and move on with each other. I can’t stop but think of Narumi’s disease as hilarious though, his attempt to make someone and anyone laugh at the beginning was so very hilarious *facepalm*. The extreme facial expressions though were very extreme, I must say, not the biggest fan of that personally. Shirogane’s battle with the puppet was brilliantly animated and the action sequences were on point, what a delight to have, and similarly with the whole train action scenes. Soundtrack of the fights were brilliant too and it’s by the same Sound Director as that of Boku no Hero Academia(Whoohoo!), I’m really going to like this show by the looks of it. Op by Bump of Chicken was glorious and so were the clorful display of visuals especially during the first few seconds! ED was brilliant too, especially the visuals! Comedy of the show was on point for the most bit too.

Looks like we’re up for an interesting battle next up, so I’m highly looking forward to that!

it's going to be almost berserk dark (without the raping of course)...

but as manga reader the problem with this series is the 2nd arc IMO ... hope they shorten it.... outside that it's all great

[minor spoiler]

I read the manga 10+ years ago so I forgot most of the details. But I love it. If you are here for the feels like Ushio to Tora (UtT), you are on the right train. Again, the whole story involves events throughout hundreds of years. The family heritage thing is just like a prologue to the whole story.

Narumi's disease is a serious thing and will be explained later.

The weird comedic facial expression is a signature of this manga author. It can also be found in UtT. Consider it as the author's odd humor. You will get used to it. XD

The story will get dark. Some brutal things will happen, tragic backstories will be revealed. Similar level like the origins of the Beast Spear and Tora in UtT.

The animation quality was also pretty good in 1st episode of UtT, but then it widely fluctuated throughout the later episodes. Hope this time it will be better but I would suggest don't expect too much.
