Couldn't Ginko have just kept the Mushi stored in some container (like that glass bottle) instead of burying it in the ground? Now the cycle will just keep on going.

That's one future that couldn't be changed - it's coming this year :p.

Another enjoyable episode, really powerful moment when she said "I guess you don't need eyes to shed tears." Only one episode left, I want to watch it but I don't want the journey to end just yet.

Very good episode. This was a nice story of how a special gift can be both a blessing and a curse. I think the overall message for this episode is to be happy in the present and not to be extremely concern of the future.

that was a pretty cool mushi
"Urushibara Ruka. The mannerisms and voice of a woman... No... More feminine than any woman. But he's a guy. Taller than Mayuri, but so very thin... But he's a guy. Looks great in a miko outfit... But he's a guy. It's already twilight And yet, it's so hot. The cicadas are crying. But... He's a guy."

i didn't really like this episode much, like someone else said it was too focused on the girls past and didn't involve Ginko much,
maybe I missed something, but when she asks him if his friend ever replied, and he pulls out a message, what did it say?

Gosh! Every single episode that involves eyeballs in this anime is creepy as hell.
And I am still intrigued by them. And everything in this anime. One more episode to go.

She mentioned before that Ginko wouldn't get a useful reply that apparently came true.

It's a shame she lost her vision in the end. I was hoping she could control it or something but that would be too godlike.

Yes, I am interested if anyone can read Japanese what the letter said?

There has to be some kind of significance that he didn't say what was in it!

Anyone else wondering why didn't he make artificial eye for her like he did for a girl in episode 2?

I honestly think that the best thing about this show is the music, it's just so beautiful and calm!
It's episodes like this that blow my mind, how come we can't change our destiny? It just bugs me so much.....
I'm glad the girl got her wish, I can't even start to imagine how it must be to see how people that are around you are gonna die and stuff like that.

Because he doesn't have a glass eye on hand? Also, he doesn't have the Mushi for it, anyway.

That was a good episode. Makes me care about my eyes more than I do; don't want them falling out now.

Ahhhhh yes, this is the touching, bittersweet atmosphere I love so much from Mushishi. I like that it was pretty much entirely focused on Amane; it felt new. The short scene with Ginko talking about his first memory was also incredibly moving.

This episode wasn't exceptionally sad like some of my favorite Mushishi episodes, but there was a touching mix of tragedy and joy in Amane's story that just really hooked me. I think it was also an interesting perspective on blindness.

Love it. Definitely better than some of the more recent episodes, which weren't quite as good, IMO.

Only one episode left. I hope the finale impresses me the way the first few episodes did. It is imperative the finale is the best episode. ;-;

Loved the lute playing during the ending theme as well. Nice touch.

I find it interesting that she couldn't see Ginko's past prior his incident. Wondering why that was the case, guess the ginko mushi or Tokoyami's presence acted as some sort of interference to the Ganpuku's abilities.

I know Mushi are supposed to exist somewhere between reality and the paranormal, but a mushi that bends time (thats how I accept that the girl could see the future) is asking for a lot of suspension of disbelief... But apart from that, I once again loved the whole episode, the narrative is just so good. There was also that episode that had this mushi that basically bent space as well that was also so freaking engaging.

From now on I'm going to stop looking at those over paranormal mushi and just take it all as phenomena that somehow can happen in this world. The stories are always so fantastic that I don´t want to suspend my enjoyment just because the reality presented in Mushishi is crossing some sort of imaginary border.

Just a little rant sorry, it's just that when some series is this good one ends up nitpicking over small things that you wouldn't normally pick on stories of lesser quality.

Wow... That girl suffered a lot... And in the end, she lost both her eyes as well. Everything was predetermined. What a sad episode.
I must say, Ginko was very cool when he grabbed those mushi and put them in the jar. Also the eyes falling out of eye sockets was creepy in a good way.

Really liked this episode. Shows how important it is to be thankful for what we have and to not wish for too much.

That was amazing, improved vision looks awesome, but that mushi definitely went too far.

I wouldn't go ask her to see my future, that poor dude that got told that he was going to die the next year was probably scared to death for all that time lol.

Revisiting this episode, I'm actually quite content with how it ended. While Amane losing her sight was disheartening, it was ultimately a return to the world she'd known from her birth. In a way, the gift of sight and the curse of foresight was but a glimpse of an unknown world that she could never linger in.

Honestly a half-ass excuse to don't present Ginko's past to him, those purple eyes can "time travel" and see everyone's future and past, but Ginko as Yoki it is not possible. Maybe, it could be excusable the fact that the tokoyami is an infinite darkness and the eyes couldn't surpass all the pitch black place that young Gino was in, can't imagine an excuse better than that.

This might be my favourite episode yet. There's just this sense of magnetic intrigue I got that was unmatched by any previous episode.

I was hoping Ginko could change fate, perhaps by using his Mushi repelling smoke? I also hoped that this episode would be a larger story bleeding into the next episode, revealing more of Ginko's past through Amane's abilities. How curious that the Ganpaku couldn't see beyond the Ginko/Tokoyami.

I don't get why Ginko couldn't keep the Ganpaku in the containers and let him or other Mushi-shi study them.

Being able to see everything from a distance might sound really cool but barely being able to see where you are right now is just plain dangerous. She's able to enjoy otherworldly delights with that omniscient point of view of hers only to get more and more overwhelmed by its potency right until the point where both her eyes fell off. Knowing the exact details of how the people you love will die with no way to do anything about it except for fearing for the day it finally happens sounds tough.

It reminds me of a chapter of Franken Fran where a guy acquires the eyes of God. Glad this one ended on a happier note than it did there.

Well, this episode was quite a mess, as expected when you bring in seeing the future and the past and not being able to change fate which is, for some reason, equated to what the character sees as the future.
