I kinda like this. Hina has an energetic personality and the show just radiates with fun, not to mention the setting. There's a local beach so maybe we'll see some swimsuits and fan service eventually. However, I think the catch of the show is the character personalities so far, especially Hina. Bring on more please! |

Ah yes, what a unique romcom, a random boy with black hair moves to a certain place in Japan and gets girls all overs him... surely this HASN'T already happened before... sigh. I don't know what it is what it is with these animes, other than free promo for the places in questions, this time being Okinawa and last time being Hokkaido. Off the bat though, this art style... I don't know man, as much as I despised Hokkaido Gals, I think I like that art style a bit better, but it's whatever man. Though, yeah, I find it funny that they did go as far as to still give the girl a Okinawa dialect xD I have to thank the committee for giving us subs because Okinawa is worse than trying to understand Kansai dialect.. and that's saying something. Poor guy though, dude can't say the first nor last name of the girl without either calling the whole town to him or "confessing his love" lol. But yeah man... I don't know what to say about this episode other than this was so fucking wacky and random... I mean, one second the gang is helping out a lost kid or something, and the next a bull or something shows up out of nowhere, and then back at the school the main guy getting praised for not eating something before and becomes Mr. Popular because of it... LMAOOOO. Loved this already, and loved it more than the Hokkaido slop as well. Looking forward to more. Kana best girl btw, if it wasn't obvious. |

As a big fan of the manga (waiting for the next volume in a few days), I was surprised and happy to hear about it getting an anime. I enjoy reading about Okinawan culture and learning the Ryukyu language. And Kana is very cute! On that part I think this anime will do its job and sell itself to the population of mainland Japan. The English speaking community though... my suspicion is that most viewers will watch this with the expectation of it being a regular romcom, which it very much isn't. Its first and foremost an educational piece about Okinawa and maybe fifth down the line comes the romcom aspect. I'm among the niche in the English speaking community this appeals to and I really liked it. The anime did a great job adapting the manga! The voice actors are great and the pacing is good considering what they had to work with and it being an episodic. |

Mabuyaa Mabuyaa Uuteikuuyo! Time to learn some 'Uchinaaguchi'. I really love how they use 'Sanshin' as the bgm. It's one of the Okinawan traditional musical instruments. Sata andagi, a traditional sweet of Okinawa, is sweet deep-fried buns of dough. You can think of fried doughnuts. Ushiorase—Okinawan Bullfighting, is a longstanding tradition. The tournaments take place mainly in Uruma City, which is also the same city where this series is set. This D&M Okinawa Juice can was probably modeled after an A&W rootbeer can. Fun fact: Okinawa is the only prefecture in Japan that still has A&W Restaurant. wait a minute. Zombieland Saga lmao... |

Death by a million donuts. "Kaanaa's are really delicious!" I'll bet they are. Cute character design, particularly the two girls. Energetic animation for the girls. Liked the color palette and textures. But, I could use twice the the cute romance and other interpersonal interaction, and 1/3 the language and travel lessons. They need to adjust the balance here. |

So peak series just stared. I’m so glad that it’s focused on Okinawan culture and language. I was already hyped when I’ve seen the first PV, but it definitely surpassed my expectations. The visuals are great too. It even got the best what CR can offer if it comes to translation. 10/10 start Btw, since Okinawan is probably the least known Japanese dialect (it is sometimes considered as a separate language because it differs so much from regular Japanese) for me, I wonder if Kyan’s seiyuu is really fluent in it. |

Cute and educational. Feels like it's 4-koma adaptation without a plot, so maybe 5-minute episodes would suit this show much better. I'm interested in Okinawan culture, but watching loosely tied 24-minute commercials instead of an actual story is kinda meh. Guess I'll give it one or two more episodes. |

Soo...sometimes Hina talks in her okinawa-dialect and sometimes she does not?! Knowing fully well Teruaki won't understand if she does. And it's not like in the "hiding her feelings in russian"-anime where it's supposed to disguise embarrassing statements. Here it's just mundane dialogue. Am I missing something crucial here? I'm pretty confused about that. |

That's one clickbait title if I've ever seen one. Who cares about whatever tf Hina's saying, Kana ftw. It took me exactly 5 sec to change ship. Also Fairouz Ai has been everywhere lately. Makes her current condition even more sad. Hope she comes back stronger. As for the episode it was amusing, not a lot of frames but given it's millepensee, expected. The setting is what attracted me to this anime and I'm liking it. It's also quite informative so gonna continue and ofc Kana best girl. |

I was expecting a lot from this one, and I must say it was an even better start that I expected! The romance aspect was cute, endearing, and the love triangle aspect promises to bring many fun moments in the future, as well as probably some good drama here and there I'm guessing. Hina and Kana are fun, cute and a bit quirky, which I love. I really liked the comedy a lot in this first episode: I laughed so much at the Higa-san, the Kana-san and the Kame Kame jokes. I think I also got to learn a lot about Okinawa culture in the process, which is a big plus in my book. Overall, had a really great time watching this first episode, it seems like my kind of show. Looking forward to the next episodes :) |

@rsc-pl so true, it can be compared to the Hawaiian language. It really is a pain in the ass trying to pick up local girls in Okinawa. |

This is more or less a promotional anime for Okinawa than a romcom, which is not a bad thing since there are a few anime that takes place in Okinawa. I think Harukana Receives takes place in Okinawa if I'm not mistaken. It is true that Okinawans have a separate culture since the small island of Okinawa is not connected to the mainland prefectures of Japan to a point where you have to take a ferry or a plane to get there. Right off the bat we have quite the love triangle between Teruaki, Hina, and Kana. Although Teruaki can barley understand Kana, Hina on the other hand speaks like a 70 year old Okinawan grandma with her super thick accent. The beaches of Okinawa always reminds me of Jamaica and I didn't know bullfighting is popular over there. |

Pretty cute first episode, basically serves as promotional material for Okinawa tourism which is cool because other than the US military bases and nice weather, I don’t know much about the place. BUT it’s kind of hard to root for a ship in a romcom when the two leads can’t understand one another 😭 like obviously the Okinawan accent gimmick is played up for laughs so the audience can learn about the culture, but I feel like it’ll get repetitive after a while. + Kana translating everything and can talk freely with the MC.. she’s clearly best girl here while the other girl is just a plot device for okinawan culture. We’ll see tho. Low expectations, but could be a turn your brain off and relax sort of thing. Sata Andagi kinda seem like beignets, I want some! |

Excellent beginning episode! Okinawa is shown as a nice place with an even nicer, tanned people -- hope to travel there someday! Teruaki is a neat boy comically confused with the Okinawan dialect and habits... Hina and Kana are as cute and sweet as I imagined them to be. Onwards to a cute love triangle! |

Anime is really wanting people to travel to Japan nowadays. You have season 3 of Dropkick on my devil, Laid Back Camp (an anime about going camping around Japan), Hokkaido girls are super adorable, and many more showing off more of Japan than just Tokyo or Kyoto. Now we have this adorable anime. It is an interesting idea how it has a literal case of someone not verbalizing their feelings (since they don’t understand the dialect). Side note: I already would love to go to Japan. It just seems like a lot of anime nowadays are really pushing it. |

So far this ended up surprosingly great, apart from the cool language lessons on the Okinawan dialect the romance seems like will be pretty good too. Hina doesn't seem to show much interest towards MC yet so I am rooting for Kana for now. |

This was a rather cutesy first episode. I do find it charming to see how sweet Kana is in helping to translate Hina's dialect to Teruaki and the trio themselves are pretty entertaining all of the time. For me, I enjoyed the Sata Andagi segment the most, considering how every one at school, the neighbourhood and over towns all rallied together to have Teruaki eat the stuff. Honestly, I want to try it out myself! XD With the way this episode played out, I think this will make for a nice series to chill out with after a hard week of work. I doubt the score for this series will be high, but as long as it keeps me smiling with its cute shenanigans, then it has done its job perfectly. |

That was surprisingly cute, funny, and wholesome. They managed to fit a lot of Okinawan culture lessons but made it all fun to learn. I'm only a little disappointed in the love triangle, the MC and Kana have way more chemistry, but this is only the first episode so who knows |

Moving to Okinawa from Tokyo's got to be quite the drastic change. The dialect really was quite unique. Pretty catchy OP. Having a friend that can help translate sure was useful. Higa being such a common family name sure can produce some awkward moments. Wow Nakamura sure walked right into that confession. But to think that her name and the honofic would have that kind of meaning though. It was amusing seeing Nakamura be treated that way by his classmates though. But man that was a terrifying amount of food he ended up with. As Opening ep's go this one defo takes the cake in being equally amusing and educational. |

This anime may seem funny more to the Japanese because they are the ones who understand the dialects and slang and things of their culture, however the anime makes an effort to explain so that foreign viewers understand it, I find the kamee kamee attack funny and not because I explained it with reference to Evangelion but because I am from a village and when there were visitors from cities during vacation times we gave them a taste of the traditional sweets of the place and we wanted to know their opinion and in some way we felt proud. I would like Teru to gradually fall in love with Kana and for Hina to not be affected in any way by not being interested in romance and that way the romance could develop in this anime along with the moments of confusion in this story. |

This is one of the shows I was looking forward to the most after picking Winter 2025 shows, mainly because I loved Hokkaido Gals during last year’s winter season and this is another show focusing on a part of a Japan we’re not used to seeing, and so far I’m really liking it. Okinawa is among the parts of Japan I know the least about so all the information paired with funny bits is really hitting with me, I think the best parts were probably Teruaki accidentally causing a zombie apocalypse by calling Higa in a crowd of people (nice Zombieland Saga reference there too), and the last bit where Teruaki got more of the local cuisine than he could ever ask for lol. But there is an interesting thing with the main girls of the show, being Kyan and Higa, and it’s that despite Kyan being the main girl, Higa is absolutely winning the best girl role right now lol. She had so many cute moments with Teruaki in this first episode alone, and Kyan has basically just been her goofy self and using a ton of that “Uchinaaguchi” which Higa translated, i definitely think Kyan is fun but when it comes to romance I am especially liking Higa, I really like her design too. But I think it’s safe to say I’m gonna really enjoy this one, Millepensee seems to be doing a nice job so far too, I like the show’s unique look a lot. And that was also a very nice OP and ED, I think they may already be contenders for my favorites of the season, I especially loved the chill ED which reminded me of folk rock music. |

Last year we got the “Hokkaido Gals” anime, this year we have the “Okinawa Gals” anime. I approve of this trend. Did not expect the love triangle to form in this way from the previews, but I think the focusing this series is going to be more on the general Ryukan culture. Also, I hope we get more random anime references. |

Zombieland Saga and Evangelion references in the first episode? oh yeah this show is going to be fire really like when a show highlights a prefecture that usually isn't in a lot of anime, like I did not know there was a whole separate language they spoke in Okinawa I just assumed they only had a different dialect; I am rooting for Kana though so it sucks knowing she probably isn't going to win |

Akari Kito speaking Okinawan language is super cute and funny. On this day and for twelve weeks my ears will be blessed <3. That said, Kana is absolutely adorable and best girl of this show. And possibly end game girl? Like, one would think it would be the typical love triangle but so far it feels like she'll be the main love interest... which would be great. Anyway, great start. Much better than I expected and looking forward to more. |

@Shingster It's Ryukyuan language propaganda, which nobody in Okinawa really speaks, only the elderly. Unless you go deep into the forest villages. |

@AddaeAkono The Kanata’s beach from Harukana Receive and the beach from the first episode where they met the bull was the same actual one, Gushikawa Beach. And looking at Kanata’s surname, it’s also Higa! |
