It's the battle for Earth and well...I was not expecting a mech to show up in the season finale. Then again, this anime tosses all common sense out the window.

I think this episode pretty crazy, even for Astro Note. The big fish guy for instance made me roll my eyes. Mira's decision was also very important to this plot, although this episode also felt kinda rushed. Good to see everyone back on Earth agian though.

The space battle between planets Wid and Hub after finding the key...it turns out to be a marriage proposition in disguise if the key is not handed over, which Mira of course rejects Hubby's king outright. And it's easy to tell of negotiations dying down, because King Hubby is clearly frustrated and wants the key for himself...not before Shoin comes in to appease the deal that he had with King Hubby, only to be blasted off like Team Rocket with his love hotel spaceship. But with that being said, the residents of Astro Lodge resting east and making meals for themselves, how lax could they get in the midst of Mira and her mother Adara being courted by King Hubby, it's just simply uncalled for to birth talented kids like it was a fever dream.

In the end, a runaway political marriage story makes sense why the aliens descended onto Earth, and all's well that ends well for Astro Lodge as Mira gives up her right as a future queen, who instead stays on Earth with the love of her life, Takumi. Naosuke being left with no choice but to go back to Wid to protect the key, and Aoi finally got her closure with him after crushing for Takumi (which led her to Naosuke being Octo). Also, Shoin and his spy agents may have come back to Astro Lodge in humiliation, and Mira upholds Tasuke's mission to house anybody in need, though Takumi sure doesn't make it easy for his re-inclusion. Instead, Shokichi wanting to go to space to complete his novel, that's a rather roundabout way of doing so, with the boarding house still holding a farewell party for the involved before they leave.

In a way, this finale was not what I was expecting, but it really isn't out of the show's wheelhouse either. It's a good show for the not-so-serious viewer, though I find this to be rather mediocre.

Pretty basic story with some interesting elements sprinkled on top of it. Overall, a decent enough experience.

Oh and the weird focus on Ntr for some reason.

Nice finale even though it seemed a bit rushed i would have liked to have seen more of the final battle. It was quite sad seeing Naosuke bid farewell to Mira as they really have developed a strong bond and love for each other.

For me this was hands down the best comedy of the season (sorry, not sorry Konosuba).

Loved all the cartoonish chase sequences, the movie and old school anime references and all those moments that teased the romance would go south, but it was quite refreshing to see the ship actually sailed. Going to miss the quirks of all the cast, from Wakabayashi's lurklike out of nowhere appearances to Teru's drunk antics and Aoi's cute dorkyness.

Easily my top pick of this season. Anyone who enjoyed Maison Ikkoku or Urusei Yatsura will love this anime, really good mix of wacky antics, colourful characters, good dose of romance and sci-fi shenanigans. Reminds me of the late 90's/2000's wacky romcoms I love so much. High 8/10 (8.8).

Didn't expect this romcom anime to end with a mecha battle. I'm glad that part was over with pretty quickly at the start tho considering it's the last episode.

The fish guy was weird. He wanted to marry Mira after failing to marry her mom only so he could have children with them. No wonder he's a "Hubby."

I had a feeling that Shoin's love hotel house was a spaceship but the fact that it doesn't transform at all says a lot about his taste. But the fact he didn't get dragged to Wid for treason and was allowed to live with the people he tried to screw over was probably the stupidest part about this episode.

Naosuke goes back to Wid and takes Yamashita with him. Mira is lucky that her mom went through the same thing as her otherwise the next queen abandoning her home planet would've definitely caused some serious issues if this was a different type of anime.

This was a pretty good finale for a decent anime I'd say. I would've preferred it if they showed Mira and Takumi getting properly married rather than the show trying to shove a message tho.

I think the biggest weakness of this anime is that most of the characters aren't that interesting. Especially the MC Takumi. I barely know anything about the guy. That's a huge fail and probably the biggest drawback of the series. Mira is fine but her falling in love with Takumi felt a bit too rushed.

Overall, I enjoyed Astro Note and wouldn't have minded another season or two.

It's a bit crazy that an anime like Astro Note was greenlit at all. I don't think it's the type of series that would've made much money. It seems more like a passion project for whoever was involved with making this show.

I liked how this was a tribute to 80s anime like Maison Ikkoku. I really wish we had a serious successor to Maison Ikkoku tho. I don't like how most romcoms these days basically have the same setting and I think a long-running slow-burn romance like MI is worth making. I'd prefer it over MI simply being remade since the OG already holds up really well.

An underrated series this season. Reminiscent of anime series of yesteryear in a good way. Ren is finally who he wants to be, Shoin stayed at the astro residence, Terurun is growing as an idol, our protagonists are together, Aoi got a job with the lawyer who has been helping her, and the old man moved to Viu to finish his novel . Good anime.

Spanish translation:
Good anime.

The beginning of this episode with them in space reminded me a lot of tenchi muyo, it's similar in that sense, but this is due to the clear reference from the first episode to old anime, anime from that time and such, old sci-fy anime.

This relationship between Naosuke and Aoi smells like ZOO to me, if you know what I mean, but the author didn't have the "courage" to make it clear and consummate it, before you ask, I'm totally against it in the anime and in real life, I don't intend to say more than that.

I also didn't like Ren's plot, it seemed like they were trying to force an agenda, although perhaps it was at the beginning, not as forced as the current films and series, not to mention that it was the only residents' plot that had more prominence and was the one that It was more out of character with the anime, if it hadn't, it wouldn't change at all, that alone makes it clear that it's forced.

Now about the anime in general, this was one of the ones I bet on in the first episode, although I didn't bet very high, it was an anime that in itself had potential but ended up being wasted, the romance was poorly deepened, being played entirely for the penultimate episode, the secondary characters of the plot were charismatic, even the old gossip but there was no interesting plot about them, they were kind of left aside most of the time, the only plot that had a little more prominence was the of Ren, as I mentioned above, there was even his part with his father, which was interesting and cool but it's easy to know the reason behind it, so it's clear why he had a little more prominence than the other characters, Aoi also had a little highlight at the end but as I said, her plot smells like ZOO, I think the anime had so much nostalgic potential, like a sci-fy anime of the time but in the present day, about the romance and the parade of several eccentric characters under the same roof, which is also characteristic of animes from the 80s and 90s, perhaps there was a lack of time, perhaps with more episodes it would have developed better, this is the curse of Original animes, it is always rushed at the end, but You can't help but point out the mistakes, going back to the characters, as I said they had potential but none of them were well developed.

One thing that particularly bothered me at the beginning of the anime was the comedy with the terms husband, widow, the shoin motel, betrayal and so on, if they had gone deeper into the main couple's romance, perhaps it would have gone unnoticed and it would have been just a funny fact, but as the couple was never developed (romantic moments and such) and even though we knew that Mira wouldn't do such a thing, it's a strange point in the series, even more so with Shoin living in the pension now, I read some comments on other forums that highlight this NTR point of the anime, even if it's not blatantly and I kind of agree that it exists.

Anyway, it's an anime that I expected something but it's still not bad at all, it's an OK anime, 6/10 but wanting to go to 5/10 because of the force of some guidelines, which makes me sad because, as I've said several times Sometimes the anime had potential and the premise is cool too, not to mention that I have nostalgia.

Mecha battle for the finale which I'm glad didn't drag and was short so we could get more focus on the main stuff. I'm so happy I got my happy end, love Mira and Takumi. Sad for Naosuke and Aoi but hopefully he'll comeback for her someday and also to be with Mira. Was hoping maybe we'd get to see a shot of their wedding in the ED sequence atleast but nope.

Really enjoyed watching this and I was really hoping for the happy end which I got so prolly my favourite anime this season. Just wish it had more episodes to flesh things out a bit more like showing us how things are in planet wid and stuff and also more focus on the characters and in general. Anyway still pretty content with what we got. Loved the animation, artstyle and the old anime esque atmosphere in general. Gonna miss this a lot and will rewatch it from time to time. Love the main couple.

It seems the authors were confused whether they wanted to talk about freedom of choice or the continuation of glorious traditions. But one way or another, it was more or less a pleasant nostalgic experience. It was like I was watching some light-hearted romantic show from the 80s again.

Wow what a finale and fun series! The intro fight was not only hilarious but also fluidly animated! To top it off, the hubby during the battle was a riot. It was also pleasant to see this gang of wild personalities get such a nice send off! Funny gags, great messages, and a good heart, glad I picked up this series.

@Kimurah Right? I think people are taking for granted that the romance actually landed and didn't end up crashing and burning the series like so many other romcoms. It is rather nice to have such a satisfying conclusion to a seasonal romcom!

Asto Note has finally come to an end. For me this was not just a love letter for fans of Rumiko's Maison Ikkoku or Urusei Yatsura, but to fans of 80s anime. How ironic that both Astro Note and the Urusei Yatsura remake ended on the same week. It seems like everyone including the Hubby spies got a happy ending. This was another hidded gem of Spring 2024 with a great soundtrack and I'm glad that we heard the OP at the end, but I wanted to hear the ED one more time.

This is closest thing we'll get to a remake of Maison Ikkoku, but at least we are getting a remake to Ranma 1/2, right.

8/10.

This finale was ass. I know the anime didnt take itself seriously from the get go, but the last two eps were such a weird mix of rushed story telling and everyone simping Mira to be their wife. The Hubby leader being so hell bent in wifing one of the royalty women was funny though.
That aside, the positives of this series were the charming and nostalgic art and animation. The VAs werent that bad too I guess but I found the MC annoying. Even as a character, he was just so bland and awful. The subplot with the kid wearing skirts was mad weird and absolutely unnecessary but I guess the writers wanted that western validation. 5/10

You can't change your age, sex, ethnicity or ethnicities, species, etc. This is all true.

But it doesn't mean you can't choose to live the way you want and that is, I believe, part of what the message you're referring to is about. Even if there are some immutable physical characteristics which all beings are saddled with, it doesn't mean that every action you take - everything you do in life with that life isn't still a choice.

This is probably like the most 7/10 anime ever, but like the most satisfying kind of 7/10, like the people behind it knew exactly what they wanted to do and the mood they were going for and totally pulled it off. Whacky, a nice message, and some goofy plot twists. Hopefully anime will start making rom-coms with diverse settings and supporting casts again.

I didn't see an example of anyone in this series fighting against what was natural. Who and which characters exactly were trying to change their age, sex, species, etc.? That would be illogical and probably destined for unhappiness and disappointment, but it didn't seem like any characters were engaged in that.

so it's an original show. as soon as the mother was shown living with previous landlord, the ending is pretty predictable.

this anime reminds me with old anime with all the goofiness. character design also reminded me of old manga like IS. the cliche ending which makes one of character as the author also feels nostalgic.

ending is bittersweet because that the princess mom can't meet with the previous landlord.

overall pretty decent as original anime, if I haven't watched a lot of anime then I probably would like it more.

Early in the series 8/10
... until ...
After series 4/10
This series started strong and kept things interesting with all the misunderstandings, but it lost direction and started being ridiculously dumb just for the sake of wrapping things up in a hurry. Everything leading to the end was forced and cramped together it became impossible to expect a coherent conclusion.

"Manga readers are annoying, all they do is complain or spoil the anime we discuss in an anime forum.
They should really do their whining at manga forums.

Man, I don't normally feel sad finishing an anime, but this one made me feel a little heavy by the end of it. Sure it can get a little whimsy here n' there, but this anime carried so many meaningful messages beneath the whacky surface and I absolutely adored that. The retro vibes also took me back to the days when I was a little toddler watching old 70s-90s anime with my mom. All the characters were loveable and interesting in their own ways and I especially loved the chemistry between Mira and Takumi!!!

I guess my only complaint was that I was REALLY hoping to see Naosuke's true form and see him get closer to Aoi-chan, their chemistry was too endearing to leave it at them splitting ways ;u; </3

Maybe I'm being a bit biased by rating this show a 8/10, but god- I wouldn't wanna give it anything less! Really hope more people will pick this show up and it gets a higher rating!!!
