Didn't expect this, you are the best~
Btw, sorry for not answering the last message, wanted to reply, but ended with lots of things to do and somehow forgot to reply, gomen ne~
About your previous message on Takagi-san, yep, I did watch the movie—such an incredible experience! It was the perfect ending for the series, in my opinion. That last frame where they’re grown up... awww. (Though I already knew about the manga where they’re grown up and have kids xd.)
On another note, it's amazing that you got to see it in theaters! Here in Spain, almost no anime films get licensed for theaters, only the most famous ones, like Ghibli films. I'm not really a theater person, but I’d be glad to go to one to experience some of my favorite anime films, like Liz to Aoi Tori, Trapezium, or Summer Ghost—such beautiful movies. I think Liz to Aoi Tori even got an award here in Catalonia, strangely xd. I didn’t even know it was translated. By the way, what are your favorite anime films? ^^
About idol animes… I don’t think there’s one perfect anime to introduce you to the genre without being too idol-like. You could try something like Oshi no Ko, maybe… but it’s really different from an actual idol anime. I started with Idolm@ster Cinderella Girls, which is still one of my favorites. Idolm@ster is a classic idol franchise, mainly focused on the idols, their production, and their personal stories. On the other hand, there’s Love Live, which is more about a general story—usually saving a school. And then, there are hidden gems like Shine Post, a short but intense story. It’s actually my favorite anime show and my third favorite anime overall.
So, if you want the idol experience—Idolm@ster (the main one, or Cinderella Girls). If you prefer school-based anime—Love Live. If you’re looking for something short and standalone, not part of a franchise—Shine Post or even the movie Trapezium.
In general, idol anime focuses on character progression and moving forward—chasing their dreams, overcoming struggles, and most importantly, giving their all to achieve everything they set out to do. That’s what I love about idol anime. No other genre has made me cry half as much. They’re not sad; they’re just so emotional. Watching the characters grow and give their best… it’s incredible.
As for the Sonny Boy ending, I think it’s perfect too. I mean, I could list a lot of things Sonny Boy could have done differently to please more people, but to me, Sonny Boy is the anime. I don’t think any other anime could give me the same emotions, the things I learned from it, the sheer creativity… It just feels like it was made for me, including the ending (with an incredible OST, by the way).
I don’t think Sonny Boy is meant to have only one explanation. The way it’s crafted, it encourages people to think about thinking, to come up with their own unique theories. I’ve read a lot of them on Reddit, and they’re really fun. I’ve also read some interviews with Natsume Shingo (the creator), where he explains his vision, and man, I really love his way of thinking.
Sonny Boy is a journey. It’s an apprenticeship.
Wah, didn’t expect to write this much! Hope I didn’t bore you, and see you next time! Do tell me if you end up watching an idol anime ^^
Love that image~ (I hope it shows well xd, here is the link if it's not https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GgQzrg0WAAAgck2?format=jpg&name=large.)
And tyy! Slay with your Japanese then 🔥
Alright, an ex athlete :D. Football as in soccer so Blue Lock (I should watch that anime). American football/rugby are not popular in my country, not sure if we have places/people that train them. I've heard the sand thing too. I've ran on beaches, get tired way faster cus the surface is not flat and hard, your feet sink in. Works your body out more I guess.
Blue Exorcist always has good intros. I'll check out the manga Showa Shotan manga sometime (once it's finished, I read only finished things). Thanks for the birthday wishes again! ^_^
That's so nice of you!
Hope you are having a good day.
how could i forget about OHSHC...the goat of shoujo anime for me, also one of the few animes i watched a few episodes of, got too overwhelmed and never took up again. middle school me was on a different emotional spectrum LOL. hmm i used to watch all my anime on youtube as a kid, then i'd see if my region's netflix had it. back then there were only 5-10 titles and now there is a whole section just for anime so that's nice. i think in terms of consistency i have gone down a lot because of workload and also my lack of enthusiasm for searching a title in the deep, dark parts of the interweb if it was not easily available [like on yt/netflix for example]. now i'm trying to make up for lost time........o(* ̄▽ ̄*)ブ
lol mermaid melody? 8 year old me loved it because it's plot is very similar to little mermaid and that was also my fav disney movie growing up. but if i'll be for real with you, it's just 50 episodes of shoujo trash - it's bearable, but binging it may make you feel either bored or loose some braincells. there is also a sequel as well, and it literally sets back the whole story back to square one and ugh it's so annoying....but take my words with a grain of salt, i am saying this off of memory and not off of rewatching it.
jiggly ghibli HELP i litr laughed reading that...my first one was totoro #basic, watched it with my mom and she was so gagged....she loved it a lot. and then mononoke was something i watched alone. i haven't watched a lot of ghibli films but i wanna do so with my mom, but she's a girlboss who's always busy so 😔
glad to see you enjoyed freaks and saw the vision with which i sent it to you in the first place. while i don’t have siblings of my own (i have cousins, though), it’s as you said that their relationship was done very realistically and not over exaggerated for the sake of the plot. my thoughts (in bullet points), amazing sketchy art-style that suits the manga’s overall energy, LOVEDD the dark underside of the religious symbolism, also loved how cain is an absolute baddie #needher and abel has some level of character development even in a oneshot. will be thinking and praying about this oneshot’s serialization all day everyday.
when i mean trolling it’s mostly anime discussions, you can open and see for yourself that there are few that stand out just a tad bit too suspiciously…..i don’t use a site for anime recs as such, but what i was talking about in my last message was using the site where you watch the anime itself on and choosing stuff from there. in my case it’s animekai.to
no reason i avoided prison school, i guess i was not all that eager to start it due to no initial view of it. super ball girls is an….interesting name for a manga, imma just pretend i don’t know about it.
same here, i hope you have a great week, take care :)
I'll probably start Zeta sometime this week, and maybe try to watch it and Counterattack all before Gquuuux starts coming out weekly. In your opinion, is ZZ necessary for Counterattack? Original 79 is the only thing I've seen in the original timeline.
I was into basketball, volleyball and badminton. Even tried for my highschool volleyball team but didn't make it. Also played football in the breaks between classes sometimes lol. It sounds like you did a lot of stuff, wow good job. Dunno if bodybuilding counts as a sport but it seems like it needs a lot of work. I've been meaning to get into running, loved running when I was younger but I have no time or place to run now sadly.
Good luck with the MAL events! :)
Hope the dimensions work for you, too lol. If you need help with anything else just ask. My pfp is from one of the recent Blue Exorcist intros, think the Shimane Illuminati Saga. I also have a gif version of it as my discord pfp. Favourite anime and characters so sticking to it for now. Speaking of pfps, is that you in your pic?
I think Hiroyuki could have had more solo episodes too, he's for me one of the best characters in the anime (since in the manga he doesn't appear that much and also doesn't do much besides farting and shitting everywhere lol). The circus episode is one of my favorites, and I love that scene where he talks to his penguin friend at the cinema, it was very creative. I think it would be interesting if there was a rivalry between Hiroyuki and Camus, and in one episode they both worked as a team to solve a problem and then became enemies again lol. And yes, if I'm not mistaken I stopped at the cast of episode 15, there are still a lot of characters to be added here. Not to mention their voice actors too... lucky me I got a list with all of their names haha
With Audio CD you mean the soundtrack? If so, I listen to the songs available on youtube almost every day haha the ost from the Sega Saturn game is pretty cool too. Now bro, an anime that I think you would like is Jibaku-kun, but as far as I know it hasn't been subtitled in English by anyone yet. It was a very popular anime here in Brazil in the early 2000s, it's completely nuts and awesome. I hope one day it gets English subs so you and more people can watch this gem :] And again bro, thanks for the birthday wishes. It's a pretty late reply (sorry about that), but it was a great bday haha. These Mekira cards tho... ugh, she's just too awesome.
now that that rant is over, let us resume to our scheduled topics of the day ( ദ്ദി ˙ᗜ˙ )
needless sounds cool, i'll be sure to check it out. let me know how you liked freaks!! true, that is why people do not approve of suggestions on mal that say we should have a karma/reaction system like mal. i did not even realize at a point that when i'd be on reddit, whatever i'd be reading was generally the most upvoted comment and not the most recent one. but i guess that is what makes reddit, reddit. and nooooo, it is not about horrible analysis = bad experience. it's probably lack of patience and no end of trolling that makes me a bit vary to venture out to any forums that is not forum games.
thank you for the short recs, i'll be sure to check it out soon. i also have a lot of short anime that i found thanks to an anime site i use, that and your recs'll keep me busy for the next couple of months. :)
it's not about recommending, it's about how a good concept's been executed in a very average manner. i have not read past three chapters in A&C so i can't say if it gets better or not, and since i have not finished gokudolls i don't want to comment either; but the main reason i put them on hold in the first place was because it got boring as i was reading them. honestly, i would recommend gokudolls - it has an anime too, but i don't know if that is any good. every manga you mentioned besides prison school is on my ptr, now i'm scared to take them up. i kinda expected your reaction to be that way with dress up darling and aot, with a harem manga it does get frustrating to choose an optimal ending. and honestly ao3 is just....the fanbase is something i am not a big fan of. milking the series dry just because you didn't like the mangaka's ending is crazy. i get you, it's more so annoying when you've kept up with a story for so long only for it to end so unsatisfactory.
sorry for the super long comment, hope the spoilers save you and other people reading this some scrolling time. take your time in replying, i can't imagine this being a comment that can be replied to quickly HAHA. i'll be getting to your reply on the weekend itself anyways, since i'll be busy on friday. till then take care, hope you have a good rest of your week !! ♡〜٩( ˃▿˂ )۶〜♡
I'm not an athlete but I loved doing sports in school and high school. Now I just watch them on TV sadly, no participating, no time for that. Do you do any sports irl? Apart from what you're showing on your site, I mean.
No no, no money involved in the MAL events. They are all fun to participate in, and everyone can join.
Thank you, thank you :) Problem is, dimensions are the bane if my existence, I usually wing it and resize till it looks good. At the moment the picture I'm using for my profile is 655x4574.
a lot of the people i know use mal on their browsers so it allows them to be active on forums more. very true, end of the day mal does serve as a database first and then a discussion page second. i've seen a lot more fun, engaging and genuine healthy criticism of manga on reddit than i have on here. i can't say much about mal discussions considering i've not participated in any of them, but i have read a lot of them; especially the anime ones, that further prove my point that this site is ridden with people who do not have a frontal lobe developed.
i have heard of dead leaves, will watch it soon. honestly i'm looking for ova/ona/movies that are less than an hour, any recs? lol all the tiimee, though i cannot remember a specific one, that just proved my point all together; too boring to be even remembered, let alone considered memorable.
right now i just treat my list like a roulette - i scroll and see where my cursor has pointed on, and start reading. it works for me :P
hmm, a lot of series now that i look back... 🧓🧓🧓🧓 Assassin & Cinderella has a good art-style, but it's a pretty boring story. i've had it on hold for centuries, only read three chapters. but one manga that i read a bit more and still found a tad bit stagnant was Back Street Girls - i loved it at the start and was binge reading it like a maniac until chapter 40-ish, where my interest started to dwindle. currently on hold at 48 chapters. what about you?
hm i don't listen to music like 8/10 times, but when i do it's mostly music with no lyrics, and even if it does have the occasional lyric or two, i have music playing at a low volume. i don't see listening to music while reading as essential, though sometimes i find myself reading a manga while listening to music if i deviated from a task/another social media site and now i'm reading manga. as i said before, it's all about activity. nothing else. when you're active you're having fun because you're focused [?] on enjoying, if that makes sense. and don't worry, the 150 words minimum requirement is not going anytime soon. :P
