Ooh, a look into Shizuka's past. This was a fairly interesting episode since not only do we see some of her past but how her life was influenced.

She managed to unleash all her feelings and words out there. So much emotions this episode though, holy shit.

She has it kind of similar that's why Shizuka understood that despite Akira wanting to do 100s of things he has noted or planned, he still couldn't as the fear instilled deep down within him for mister ugly bastard is.. uncomfortably terrifying.

Being the ugly bastard he is, even ignoring him trying to make advances on Shizuka, the way he traumatized Akira within a couple of days is.. just tells the kind of living Akira went through those last three years.

Loved the eye-opening speech(quite literally eye-opening lol) from Shizuka, which finally did wake Akira to his senses, and helped him to make it crystal clear that he no longer has any intentions to work for ugly bastard again. Quite the scenery his face was then lol.

We knew a zombie attack was right around the corner in the midst of everything, and indeed it happened. Though for guys who have made it out alive from situations even worse, it was just everyday chore. They burned the zombies to hell and ugly bastard got WHAT HE FUCKING DESERVED.

Nice closure to Akira's trauma, but there is a recap episode next week smh.

Anyways, Beatrix should come in the next new episode.

That's my girl Shiz fucking uka!

Kosugi continues to rob Akira of his freedom, and Akira falls into a cessation of thought, just like when he was in a black company. Shizuka sees her past under her father's control, but, on the final day, Akira, who has been completely taken control of by Kosugi's, makes a shocking decision to stay and "repay his debts". To which Shizuka dosen't take lightly and snaps him out of the brainwashing and declares that he's leaving and will never se Kosugi again! That is until a bunch of zombies make their way into the facility and start going on a rampage. Though with Akira's wits they successfully got out of the situation.

Lot of info on Shizuka this episode, and I'm all here for it! Her backstory is somewhat similar to Akira in the way of having a demandive superior (this being her dad). It with this that Shizuka knows that the path that Kosugi wants Akira to continue on is not the one Akira himself wants. Their chemistry has grown a lot in just these two episodes and I'm intrested to see how far they take it in future episodes. That is if this show doesn't keep getting fucking delayed. No episode next week is gonna hurt. Though we at least saw the downfall of Kosugi before we go on a brief hiatus so fuck yeah. Been praying on Kosugi's downfall since last week.

With that hurdle complete, we continue our journey into Gunma! Maybe we'll even encounter a certain samurai lady on the way. Who knows.

The chief always acts assertively. When it comes to Shizuka's background, it's important to understand that meeting your own desires can be tough when you have a controlling parent who mainly cares about what they want. They worry that their child might be those who live in the streets at the end of the day or have a job that doesn't meet their standards. It’s understandable that having one of those parents may follow a similar path but if it keeps going, pretty much freedom is taken away from their children. Real freedom allows them to follow their own passion, even if they don’t match their parents' wishes, and most importantly, to have a good social life with their friends. Glad they talked it all out and the dynamite sequence was pretty neat. Well Chief, you lost the battle this time around. Now, in this apocalypse situation, it might be the perfect time to do whatever they want until the day it lasts. Samurai girl appearing next episode (I think) took them long enough.

@paparoski02 They announced that episodes are, from now on, to be out on Mondays at the same time it used to be out on Sundays for Streaming Platforms only (TV is still on Sunday, so one day delay for digital release).

--------------

Loved to learn more about Shizuka's past, and for her to step up for Tendo (she used to avoid those kind of situations and just think about herself and her survival, so that felt kinda nice). Also, glad we'll be starting the Gunma arc next episode, I can't wait to see Samurai Girl and I'm guessing it will be in episode 8 :3

Last week's episode felt a little meh because it was more of a transition episode to me, but this one was great!

I can't wait for the 17th ! :P

--------------

Episode 8th on September 17th (Crunchyroll : 18th).
Episode 9th on September 24th (Crunchyroll : 25th).

Let's gooo Shizuka! I like her so much more now because of this!
Of course zombies go wild here. But still hype!
That zombie burning animation though!
I'm sure we'll see the chief again someday.
Very good episode. Felt like a finale.
Now we wait 2 weeks again. Recap next week.

Episode 7 does not have a dramatic scene as in the previous episode (of course, from episode 1). I thought it would be better if this episode gave us a good riddance from that leader. I was expecting a more dramatic farewell to a dork-character like him, yet that is what Bug Films studio did.

Tendo not waking the fuck up earlier felt fucking atrociously sluggardly and tedious to watch.

Also, the abuser went full crybaby eh.

Would've been more satisfying to see him get zombified and worked to bone beyond death tbh.

In the end this episode finally moved the show on towards new stuff it seems, which is great.

YAWN.

The moustache twirling villians (Shizuka's dad & Akira's supervisor) along with Shizuka's long winded rant that miraculously changes the status quo is the most cliched writing that would make the most basic shonen mangaka blush. Add to that the also very cliched outcome of Akira to be the flawless hero that will save even the most villanous character just because it's not in his hero archtype.

Contrived writing over more contrived writing. Why did the bat guys ran away when a single zombie jumped out of the lorry, yet they even use at least a dozen of zombies as hauling mules? It gives the precedent that they have managed to dominate them with tools, yet they break down and run away like it's the first time they have encountered them.

Well, at least Kencho didn't pull out one of his classic cringe getting nude jokes in this episode, so there's that.

Oh so he's that kind of father huh? That poor dog man..

Glad to see some insight on Shizuka and her past, how she was in a similar circumstance like how Chief was treating Akira and saw a parallel between that and her own experience with her father. Love that scene where she's looking at the bucket list and decides to add a little something to it, to tell off the jerk of a boss! Compared to how we first saw her, she's beginning to open up to the goofy two.

SHIZUKA THE GOAT, way to go with snapping both Akira and everyone else with those words to make them all reconsider what Chief has really done to all of them. Ah yes, that classic scenario where one zombie manages to sneak itself through and breach the compound. The scene with the exploding trucks and all, that looked cool but I would've much preferred seeing Chief getting eaten alive. His cries as the others leave will have to do for now.

As the three depart, what will be next on the road for them..?
I liked this episode, though maybe it's just me being happy to watch another one after a delay sooo.. anyway Shizuka is definitely a high tier girl this season.
Have a good Monday :]

Shizuka's childhood wasn't a happy one whatsoever. For her, she was an only child to a father that only cares about how successful his company is more than raising a happy child, even to the point of putting down the poor puppy that she rescued since he saw it as a distraction. Talk about a shitty father... =/

At least from her point of view, that's how she saw Akira's boss treat him in a way that he couldn't refuse his demands. I'm glad that she was able to put her foot down and snap Akira out of his spiral of depression with some much needed words of encouragement to kickstart his mojo back again, which worked wonders as he told his old boss that he wouldn't work for him again. After saying that, the catering truck arrived had a zombie inside and caused a large amount of panic, but Akira went into action with how he got the other workers to round up the zombies and used a flare and gas cookers to cook them alive. Nice burning animation of the zombies, too!

With that wrapped up and the survivors all abandoning the cocky arse of a boss, Akira, Shizkuka and Kencho finally hit the road again towards the Gunma prefecture. Going by the next episode's titles, maybe the blonde haired lady will appear at long last! XD

I don’t think there’s ever been a more fitting anime episode to come out on Labor Day lol, it was very good. We got to see Shizuka’s past which was definitely upsetting, i knew immediately that dog wouldn’t make it to the end of that flashback and it only stayed depressing until the end, it makes me happy seeing the Shizuka we know now after what she went through, the art and classic aspect ratio was very nice there too.

And of course the truck stop ended up falling apart thanks to a blunder from one of the chief’s underlings, I knew it would happen somehow lol, but I think the chief’s whole operation was done after Shizuka snapped Akira back to reality whether the zombies got in or not, it was a damn nice speech too which influenced everyone and not just Akira. And I’m ngl, I did kinda want to see the chief die but I knew Akira wouldn’t let him die, the scene where they saved him with the truck was pretty cool too, but when you think about it him losing all his workers and everything he built up is more fitting than just zombie death, and he’ll probably die eventually anyway since he’s alone now. But once again, at least a punch in the face would have been nice lol.

And Shizuka said even more inspiring words as the ED played, I even teared up a bit lol, definitely one of the best girls of the season. But with the gang back together and this little arc over it’s time to move on, but sadly we don’t get an episode next week, the good news tho is that we might be meeting the blonde big booba girl soon lol.

@hich4n_ "the heart doesn't forget" like Shizuka said is actually pretty true.
Glad you don't understand that part.

Apart from that, Akira has done everything he has wanted since ep2 and hasn't swayed from his way for nothing said by anyone until he meet his traumas, which now are conquered.
I don't know what kind of answer or action did you expect from him to count as "character development", maybe taking the bat and opening his former boss head open?

Ehhh... I think this is a disheartening episode for me. Coming into Zom100 it felt like it would be a breath of fresh air to have an anime that not only has an interesting concept but an interesting main character as well. Despite that, 7 episodes in and I feel like it's just an amateurishly written story filled with the same old shounen pitfalls.

Exposition drags a lot (like, seriously, did we need all the scenes of the notorious dictator boss from the last episode and today's episode to hammer in his character? completely unnecessary), it asks for more than the reasonable amount of suspension of disbelief, and the events that have happened so far are chock full of conveniences to the main cast that takes the tension out of any troublesome situation they're in. My biggest disappointment has got to be the main character, Akira, who is said to be an adult but portrayed as the typical teenage protagonist. Of course, the series still has a handful of positive points, enough to still make me want to keep up with it, but... Eh.

I know the feeling that naturally comes when I watch a series I enjoy because time just flies when I watch an episode as I immerse myself into the story. When I watched today's episode it felt like I was slugging through every single minute of it.

@CorbanEsp I didn't expect anything 'crazy' from him, I just expected him to say "Hey 'boss', I'm with my friends here, 3 days and you said you let us go." instead of "Hey guys, yeah, I wanna stay as a slave at my old boss's place and keep getting emotionally abused and manipulated".

Shizuka had her time to shine, and the escape from Kosugi was certainly satisfying...

This episode continued to convey the message that seems to be at the heart of this anime, which is to do what makes you happy, and what you enjoy doing. We got to see some of Shizuka's past, with her father wanting her to be perfect, which isn't a novel concept at all. I honestly didn't care too much about the backstory itself, but I still liked how Shizuka was able to bring Akira out of Kosugi's brainwashing and manipulation with some motivating words. I thought Kosugi was going to get eaten by the zombies, but Akira ended up saving him, though he still ended up losing all of his subordinates. Maybe that's a better outcome than just dying, at least for our satisfaction. On to Gunma we go!

So Shizuka had a pretty strict upbringing which explains why she was so uptight earlier on but she seems to have opened up a bit. I also thought that the chief was going to force himself on her but luckily that didn't happen.

It was a little irritating watching Akira being in a total trance when he told his friends that he was going to stay but Shizuka helped him snap out of it. At the end the chief was saved but now he's on his own. Side note, I'm still wondering about their 4th member as she's seen on their RV in the ED, maybe we'll see her soon.
