THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
A somewhat boring start but I do kinda like that Yuzuki guy. He has an outgoing personality that brightens up the mood of the show.

Another noticable character introduced is Yuu but I find him pretty blend. So far, those two are getting along in the show. As far as the story goes, the pacing looks like it's establishing the main setting so far for our characters. The rugby part will probably develop more later.

This anime recovers my faith in rugby anime that was completely destroyed by Try Knights. Now let's see if it will reach All Out!! level or not, but number24 easily wins in fanservice race.

Starting off the opening with some man service hehe.

So far so good. As a fan of the sports genre, this is appealing enough for me to continue.

LMAO at the honesty about not playing rugby this or next episode. This was an enjoyable episode. But it felt like it went too quickly and didn't explain enough. 6/10 so far. Way better than Try Knights

I thought this would be as awful as Try Knights, but with a slightly better animation. Basically, I'd watched it with the intention of dropping it. Oddly, I ended up liking this episode. The art is way better than Try Knights. The animation was good enough, except at some parts where they didn't feel quite right.

I probably won't love this anime, but I hope I can like it till the end.

Omg this is really cute. The first episode shows that the show is promising, so glad after dropping Try Knight. Sei and Natsu doing that exercise askdjfglfkdgj,,I guess the anime is going to provide some good fanservice. And the fact that they are childhood friends πŸ₯Ί This is giving me Free! vibes~~

It's first episode and we're already diving headfirst into some pretty spicy (if cheap) drama. I'm sad Orange Swagbro is actually going to be the manager and not the star of the team, but at least it will be slightly fresh take on the fanservice-fueled sports anime genre.

Loved this brilliant exchange:
"Long time no see! How have you been?"
"Yes."

And they're not even hiding the fact there won't be much rugby on the next episode. This will be a chill series... you know, despite the mentally (and physically!) crippled individuals along the way.

Check All Out!! if you haven't yet, the character design is a bit whacky and there are some soap opera elements in there as well, but the actual matches are pretty fun. The fanservice doesn't disappoint either.

Ah finally the legendary Try Knights gets its worthy competitor.

But this isn't the worst start so who knows how this will play out

and damn that Taylor guy is almost like a carbon copy of Nagi from idolish7 lol, same VA as well I think

Overall I think it was a good start. Not amazing, but not mediocre. It gives me hopes that it'll be pretty good in the end. We've got just a wee bit of sexy man skin, a wee bit of Sei x Natsusa, and every character we've really seen so far is pretty different from the others. Really loved the ending, both the song and the visuals.

Adding an exchange student or some other foreign character is a pretty cheap tactic for an anime in my opinion, or maybe it's just that I absolutely hate the way they talk. I don't think anyone could be as annoying as Nagi was (not even Rui, the English teacher, from The iDOLM@STER SideM), and let's hope that this character doesn't prove me wrong. But no — Ethan Taylor's VA played Banri in IDOLiSH7.

The animation in this episode was surprisingly decent. The cast is full of bishies and I am getting gay vibes from it.

I hope this anime focuses on rugby because it doesn't get enough love. Also the college setting is kinda refreshing.

I’ve been meaning to do that! Apparently that is everyone’s favorite rugby anime! Oof, the character design for All Out might not be the best but it sure beats Try Knight had nothing going for it which was honestly tragic

So cuuuute! I frickin love an adorable sports anime and BOOOOM! This one is really great. I like all the characters so far and their chemistry hints at what could be a heartwarming anime. I feel like with Natsu being cheerful and upbeat, there could be some emotional stuff later on about the fact that he can't play rugby anymore...

As a fujoshi, i also LOVE all the doujinshi potential, especially between Natsu, Sei & Mashiro (do i smell a love triangle?!)

A full episode of no action, no rugby on the FIRST EPISODE of an ORIGINAL series about sport and rugby.

What more can I say? There's nothing to be excited from there on cuz clearly the director doesn't even know how to grab audience attention on a sport series.

Introducing a bunch of characters without showcasing their identity and without putting them in action is NOT a good way to start a sport serie. No-one cares about those characters yet.

Just go check how Hyakku, Free, Oofuru , Major, Kuro Ko no Basuke, start their series.

Seems like Try Knights have a competitor, not that it's gonna be good either. There's no optimism for such rugby sports shows ever since All Out!! concluded, and that's saying something.

Like Try Knights, it's going for mostly bishounen slice-of-life elements and more similarly, newbies/rookies to lead the team further. More particularly on the character side, Natsusa the light-orange coloured hair boy, is chosen as a manager for obvious reasons. And showing off names don't mean anything unless they're important (like MHA always does) in a large pool of characters for investment.

Decent start. Colour in the manservice and only bishoujos will get the fandom out of this.

Wasn't expecting sports-series amounts of investment into the actual sport just from the key visual to begin with, but I'll probably enjoy it for what it is and I liked the first episode! Also liked hearing Murase Ayumu's cute performance as Yuu, can't wait to hear Ishikawa Kaito as well.

Well of all the Rugby anime so far, this one has the most attractive players with the best personality's. Also our manipulative lead character is amazing, at first I thought he'd be like so many other characters of his type but he isn't, game-changing.

Emotional show considering the start with the boyfriends having a motorcyle accident and now both trying to handle how to deal with each other and the sport that they love again. Also bonus points since they seem like the aces of the team.

It wasn't the /best/ first episode for an anime, but it was good. I'm always a bit more lenient for shows that are anime original and will only have about 12 episodes in the first season, as they will have to introduce the world and the plotline super fast which is why many times the first episodes are a bit... hectic, I guess? Most of the characters were a bit all over the place, except that childhood friend of the main character; some of the jokes felt forced; and they introduced way too many people at the same time. Also the coach has a super deep voice I wasn't prepared for that. But I'll definitely watch all of the episodes!

Don't understand how it got such a low score. The first episode was charming light hearted and peaceful. The character design and animation are good. Even the character development is good . Overall I do think people should check this out. Normally I wouldn't have any problem with scores expect the fact that many people who might want to watch it will be appalled by the score and end up not watching it... Sad.

It is charming so far. I don't think this will be the type of sports anime most people expect it to be since it seems like it focuses way more on characters and relationships.

I already see it being better than Stars Align at least, we have a decent cast and it's not too depressing.

ED theme is really good. They made me want to see how the main two formed their friendship even more. Their bond is really strong.

Well, from the first episode (and that cheeky "preview" of the next), it seems obvious this isn't gonna be one of those "hardcore" sports anime, more slice-of-life and drama/comedy, like Hoshiai no Sora for example. Personally, I don't think that's a problem in itself; it's all up to what one expects or would prefer to see coming here.

But the anime itself? The OP already provides bits of fanservice, the character designs and personalities are great, there's good interaction and even some chemistry between them, seeds of drama already established while at the same time our protag is already RIP in the 7th minute (sense of delicacy, lmao) - and then later on he's basically overtly teaching uke kouhai behaviour to Yuu.... xD The visuals are pretty overall, and that ED, both the clip and the song, are actually beautiful??

I'd say what shines here is an overall much greater production value in one episode than what Try Knights probably had in its entire run: can't even compare them because they're leagues apart. Not that I needed help to forget about that one, but what this one looks like so far, I'm glad to have it.

The dialogues make me cringe and the characters are bland. Besides, I find their design chara completely inconsistent with the theme. It's not a series of idols but they talk about rugby so why don't they have athletic build like rugby players? xD

I liked Try Knights more and I'm not even joking. But hey, at least this one is not subtle with the hot yaoiz, so I guess it might be worth the try for someone who wants to see fanservice. Sadly I'm not that person, I actually wanted a good rugby anime or something so bad that it's good. This is just... meh.

The first was fairly good but the comedy is awful and forced. Please fix that later!! Also, too many characters, lets not focus each of them per episode or else it would be chaos in the pacing.

I feel some Hoshiai no Sora vibes from this episode but I hope it doesn't become that abomination.
