A touching finale for this show. Chiyaki and Decim has some last moments in this show and I find their chemistry to be quite interesting.
Really also liked the amount of sympathy Decim seems to show as well. Quite relevant with her background as well and I kinda feel bad for her; regarding her death rather. Her family shows a lot of grief and that's an example of what human emotion is like. The feels of this episode/finale ;_;
Anyways, very interesting series overall and one of my favorites for the season. 9/10. Well done, Madhouse.
So it comes to an end with an ending,as predicted, that is rather touching.
I didn't like that Decim showed sympathy but whatever.
Sadly this show didn't live up to the greatness that was Death Billiards and even as a standalone work it couldn't really impress me,there were too much things that were badly executed and it tried way too hard to be deep & mature and turned into a pretentious mess imo.I feel that the biggest flaw a show like this could have is it's writing and oh boy the writing...poor.
An average show and one of Madhouse weaker works imo,I want to state one more time how great the OP is though.
The overall package(Ost,animation, premise) was good, but the content not that much. While it managed to be entertaining,it tried to be way more than just that and failed,at least in my honest opinion.5/10 and I hope Madhouse's next work will be more to my liking. ;)
I'm kinda disappointed about Death Parade. The designs are great with very good art, good premise and ideas and a fairly high budget, but it was poorly written and I was kinda overhyping it once it aired.
The episodic characters have a well thought out and a effective and cool back story with details that makes them interesting, but the main ones are 1 dimensional. I will mention the poor writing again; the main characters that are supposed to be or at least try to be emotionless, show a good amount of emotion every time, while the principal character of the anime that is supposed to HAVE emotions is complete emotionless.
The art and the sound (especially the awesome opening) are very good overall, same with the backgrounds, the character faces are very well done (best of this season so far). Great effects, color and lightining, good voices (better than your average ones)
Veredict: 5.75/10 (again I will say: Poorly written)
I recommend the movie Death Billiards instead
It's almost a decent show but very overrated here, in absolutely no way this deserves more than a 7
One of the Madhouse weaker works
What a strong final episode, would of hoped to see the Oculus take a bit more action after they made it look like he was going to be attempting to stop Nona, but besides that there's not a lot of flaws that stand out after having seen the whole series. Going to rate it a 8/10.
So Decim was getting Chiyuki's memories so he can understand and know Chiyuki (Humans) better and finally judge her.
Oh Decim's eye did something creepy again. I know he was doing it every time something odd gonna happen but I'm still not used to it.
Oh I'm expecting that old geezer flower boy Oculus would gone all out punishing Nona on what she was doing which against the rules of Arbiters.
The conversation Between Nona and Oculus was something. Nona was really able to understand human emotions/feelings.
On the other hand that old bastard Oculus was still insisting what Nona was trying to do was not gonna work. Well what's to be expected from a dummy?
Then there's Decim carrying Chiyuki on his arms and they are going to the "lowest level" I wonder what was that place?
Oh Chiyuki was finally back at the World of the Living. And I almost think she was been resurrected until it was shown she was still in dummy form.
Then Decim arrives as bland as ever. Well he's always been like that anyway.
Yes It's really better to think what Chiyuki had been through as a dream, But it was the reality.
Can't she even allowed to think like that? Well reality can't be change after all there's no helping it.
Oh Chiyuki was dead for 3 months and that's also how long she stayed at "Quindecim".
That glimpse of Chiyuki's childhood memories was nice. She's really loved by her parents. And she's really cute when she was a child.
It looks like Decim's interest in humans was growing. He's like starting to appreciate things more.
Oh nobody's home? Is it an abandoned house now? Wait there's food it still looks fresh.
Then Chiyuki's memories was shown again. And they were really happy family on that memories.
Oh it's not abandoned Chiyuki's Mom was still there. It's finally the time to talk to her again.
Until Decim said Chiyuki (they) can't be seen, heard or can't even touch her mother. What a cruel world! T^T
So Decim didn't bring Chiyuki back to the "World of the Living" just to see her mother? Then what it is?
And 7,000 death per hour? That's too many! And yes there's lives that had reached to fulfillment and some others don't because of sudden death.
It's really unfair. This World was filled with unfairness. Why such things Exist on this World?!
So the reason why Decim brought back Chiyuki to the "World of the Living" because he's giving a chance to Chiyuki to be brought back to life huh?
But there's a condition, It is by sacrificing a someone's/single person's life in exchange for her resurrection. That's seriously hard decision to make.
And to be able to resurrect her she's just needs to press the "button" on the device (that thing again) she will be alive again.
Not just that she would be able to live again but also the memories of her death.
Which is her own memories and the others who knows about it would be erased.
But there's no much time left, she needs to decide whether to be resurrected by sacrificing someone else's life in place of her or not.
But there's a probability that her family of friends will die and it would be "sacrifice" for her to be alive again.
But there's also 7 Billion people in the world so It would be mostly would not be the case.
Chiyuki's Mother really loves her, she was supporting her to achieve what she dreams and what she wants since she's was a child.
But Chiyuki didn't paid back that love she got from her Mother. Instead she let her self fall to despair.
Having lost of your child was a serious pain. And it was even more painful for the Mother when she lost her child. Chiyuki's Mother really loves her.
So Chiyuki wants to live again so that she can apologize to her Mother for what she had been done which is giving grief to her when she died.
"It is wrong for people to want to understand each other", No it's not wrong at all.
"Even if it is, I want us to understand each other", Yes you should try to understand the others (her mother).
Those flashbacks though. It's the best parts of the "Games" which really demonstrates different emotions of humans and tells how "fragile" humans are.
So Chiyuki was really gonna press that "button" of that device to be able live again.
And to achieve that she needs to sacrifice others' life because she doesn't have any choice?
But suddenly she can't press it because the life that would be sacrifice "had definitely someone else who cherish/loves them."
It was just like her Mom who loves her. But Chiyuki still wants to talk to her mom., (Is there any option so that she can talk to her mom?)
Oh wait a minute Decim! What's happening to you?! Was the emotions finally getting at you?
And there Chiyuki was regretting that she didn't valued her life, not understanding what her mother feels.
And most of all causing grief to her parents, most of all her Mother! It's the most painful feeling in the World!!!
"And not even her a chance to have a proper goodbye!", But saying a proper goodbye was still painful!!!
Why do you fall down down so deep and even took your own life after not being able to skate or walk again normally!
Well this will be the result of a severe despair and it could cause committing suicide. But it wasn't just right!!!
Man! I can't really take a girl crying! I want to be by her side and comfort her!!!
Hey Chiyuki what are you doing? Why are you forcing and begging Decim do it for you? You should be the one to choose!!!
Then suddenly everything around seems to be breaking. What the Hell was happening?!!!
Also Decim's Arbiter eye changed and he started to yell and was like in a serious pain!!!
And now It's shown they aren't in the "world of the living" but somewhere else.
(As I expected they aren't in the "world of the living" and but I didn't expect it will look like literally a dump site!)
Then Decim terribly asked Chiyuki for forgiveness because of deceiving her and putting her through all that difficulty.
So that just happened was also a part of her judgement? (It's really a cruel way of judgement!)
And so it's not really true that he can bring back Chiyuki and her previous life!!!
Decim was really hurt too much! he was feeling sorrow!!! He said he just done that to know and understand Chiyuki better.
He did that because it's the only way to judge her (and because she can't be there any longer.) says terribly sorry for doing it.
He needs to do it because he's an Arbiter. And he's really crying out loud because of sorrow and suffering in pain!!!! Please hang in there buddy!!!
But Chiyuki says he doesn't need to apologize to her because she understands why he did it.
At Last!!! Arbiters and Humans can finally understand each other! It's really great you can do it Decim! You proved it's possible!!
So Nona and that Old Bastard Oculus was watching huh? As if I didn't knew they were watching.
Then Oculus asked what Nona do to Decim, She says she made him conduct a judgement together with a human.
but this Old Gezeer said the closer an arbiter becomes to a a human it will be more difficult to conduct a judgement. and the more it was been accompanied by suffering. (Is there by any chance Oculus was just concerned on the Arbiters?)
Then Nona says Human can't judge humans, but why even if she knew that why she still did it?
But she says even if the difficulty of the judgement rises, It doesn't mean to just give the humans a random judgement.
And Nona says "there's no way that world can be right, in the way as it is now",
Does that mean the judgement had pass before are made in the wrong way?
"What's the reason on deliberately making the arbiters to suffer?", Oh he's really concerned about them isn't he?
"What's the point of a judgement that wasn't accompanied by suffering?", Yeah how can they even judge them (Humans) when they didn't even felt it.?
"To suffer and yet stand firm, That's what it is to live(?)", And how can she even understand "to live" when she herself doesn't die? And she wasn't even alive. (what does that mean? Maybe it's because she's just an Arbiter which came from a dummy which was given a soul. But It's just the same as humans who came from a "dirt" which just given by God a form and a soul.)
"Even if they (Arbiters) become more human it doesn't change the fact they are still dummies.",
Quite right but having the fact they had the capability of thinking, moving and being able to breathe(?).
Which just means they are also "alive" and which is totally different on a dummy/puppet which just had strings and wont move if nobody moves it.
And now Decim revealed that they were not in the world of the living but they are actually in the "lowest level" where the dummies are being disposed.
(Wait since that place before it was revealed it wasn't the "world of the ling" does that also mean everything that Chiyuki's Mom said and done wasn't real too? Well for sure it would be also the to Chiyuki's Mom on the "real world" after all most of All the Mothers loves their own children because they carried them for 9 months on their womb (except premature) and they are the one's who gave birth to their child.)
The dummies was used in order for humans to stay at "Quindecim" so when their time was up or the judgement over their souls will be removed from it.
And he says normally nobody was allowed to go in there. (So Chiyuki's case was definitely special!) Good grief Chiyuki won't end up in there.
"Humans try to live all the more in the present after they die", What does that mean??? Anyway Decim really does respect and loves Humans.
What you mean your ears was callusing over on what Decim says Chiyuki?!
And so they getting back at the elevator and get out of the "lowest level" (Ground Zero?)
Wait what does Clavis means "That was the opposite of the usual", Fuck it! I'm really curious on what does that mean!!!
That Old Fucktard Oculus won't stop won't he? And what he with Nona being "Quite taken by Death"?.
Damn it! This last episode made me think more questions! It's like this wasn't the end at all! I need to know more!!!
So it's finally time for Chiyuki to enter that Elevator of "Void or Reincarnation", Decim will quite miss her right?! I'm quite gonna miss her too!
Decim asked if Chiyuki if she "if she was glad she lived" and she says yes by nodding, Of course someone will say Yes if they also had good memories and didn't suffer for all the time they spent being alive! Not someone like me who was just lived to suffer!!!Then Decim says "He to became an Arbiter who's guess come there and says same thing like Chiyuki"., Of course you will for sure.
"But in that case Decim needs to something about his face, like smiling or anything"., Yes he tried to smiled but it turned weird.
Well, what could be expected when he's always been like that? At least he was trying. And he can surely do it someday.
Then it's really time for Chiyuki to bid farewell. Just when the elevator was closing Decim remembers what Chiyuki had been through and doing in Quindecim" in span of 3 Months. He will surely gonna miss her isn't he? Those are really good memories of being them together.
And so Chiyuki started crying. And then suddenly Decim smiled genuinely that came from his heart.
And that makes Chiyuki even more emotional and smiled back (and was at the same time crying) at him.
A Great parting gift of Decim to Chiyuki. And does the Elevator really closes. And that's make Chiyuki on her way to her "Reincarnation".
Then there's Ginti "The Ol Dumb Tsundere Arbiter. He doesn't really change. Just give Clavis a drink already!
Well he seem now to be interested on humans. Wait those wooden things with faces was somewhat just like Decim had. What a hobby both of them had.
There's also Nona, Quin, and Castra (Now I know her name) who are talking about what would happen to Decim and their works.
Which is retaining the memories of death (dead?) and continue sending/processing them.
Well she just said that they will just see What will be the result of what they did. And won't do anything at the moment. So they could just drink all day.
And yeah that fucktard Oculus still "set his eyes" on Nona so she's in a quite bad situation. So Quin and Castra really needs to behave.
"First: Arbiters cannot quit making judgement for that reason which is why they exist",
Poor Arbiters just exist for that sole purpose.
"Second: Arbiters cannot experience death, for that would bring them too close to being human",
How is it close? Well they need to judge the dead after all.
"Third: Arbiters cannot feel emotions, for they are dummies",
Then why Ginti was always angry? It's an emotion right? Well there's someone who got some emotions thanks to Chiyuki which is Decim.
"Fourth: Arbiters can't work hand in hand (personally, manually) with life for that will ruin them",
Just What the Fuck does that old Bastard Oculus added? Well at some point it's true
And so the business their work to give judgement continues as an "Arbiter".
Also a new "guess" come in (to play their destiny between "Void" or "Reincarnation). I really hope they are what Decim was looking for.
That smile of Decim was really nice, seeing he smiled again was the best part.
As I expected Decim will make a replica/dummy of Chiyuki since he said, He wants to remember all of those good people that they once lived their lives a fulfilled life and they also the people who went on that place. And for sure he done to remember her that's is why he placed it very near him where he works/stands. Since he said all of the memories he had of the guess are being forgotten. And for sure that he will never forget Chiyuki.
Damn it!!! I want to know more what happened to the reincarnation of Chiyuki.
Well It can't be helped It ended right there(?) But it's really bad to see this go!!!
Please See: Whoever reads or seen the contents of this spoiler. I'm just doing this because
I didn't do any activity on this Anime discussion for a long time. And I'm just doing this a remembrance.
One of the Best Anime for me (not just me right?) this Winter Season 2015. (Are there any other, Anyway?)
I'll rate this a 9 over 10 score over all. Farewell Death Parade. I will really miss this. because I really enjoyed the plot and the story!

Haters always gonna hate.
But they are all dumb asses who always love to bother unnecessarily.
"Spread the Hate, Spread the Idiocy."
Nice ep. Didn't feel much of a conclusion to the series but it felt like a nice conclusion for Chiyuki's story.
The scene where she started crying over being conflicted between wanting to talk her mom and having to sacrifice someone who'll probably have dear people was really nicely done. Followed by Decim starting to cry.
Decim's smile at the end with him and Chiyuki saying their farewells was really sweet. Esp with her teary eyed smile :*)
Decim showing emotion and that smile at the end. A sad goodbye to Chiyuki. I had a feeling that she was getting another test when decim pulled out the button. This was a very good series. 8/10
I'm so glad she didn't turn into a dummy, because of lack of time. I don't know... maybe I have read too many books, where my favorite characters end up dead .-.
I truly liked the finale and seeing Decim cry and his forced smile natural smile were things that I never expected from here. He sends Chiyuki off. Goodbye, Chiyuki...
Amazing series... It was definitely brilliant! I love the visuals and this has the best music too from this season.
Great ending! 8/10
IF you count for AOTS only animes which started in winter than yes - it is aots, but if you count leftovers from fall too - then - no way.
Since Onna was sent to reincarnation they shouldve added a scene at the very end in a new form seeing her mom again or smth like in Angel Beats
anyway 9/10, episode 11 was definitely the best of the show
Lots of tears were shed this day....This finale was beautiful in every way
The development of Decim and Chiyuki in this episode was just astonishing and very well done and the feels that they both expressed were so powerful too TwT
The symbolism, ideologies and emotions were just.....Wow, I honestly did not expect to feel this much emotion from this finale but damn this was fucking amazing
Seeing Decim cry and smile really made my day because for the first time I think that the guy actually felt and became human and his goodbye to Chiyuki.....FEELS LEVEL OVER 9000...Don't get me started on that beautiful scene at her home
The life lessons that this series conveyed, the emotions, the animation/art, the music, the characterizations, the wonderful portrayal of the human soul and just the way they tackled many different themes were just perfect
It was obvious for weeks now and I'll state it again but this is without a doubt the AOTS and I'd gladly give this a 9/10...Simply brilliant Madhouse
Death Parade really is the best winter anime 2015.
It was unexpected to se Decim getting human emotions and cry. His smile at the end...priceless. And he made a doll of Chiyuki. So cute.
However, I still expected a bit more of the last episode. There was something missing...I hope they make a second season or an OVA.
Oh my god Decim was cute with this smile <3
I think it will be good way if Chiyuki pressed button and then her mom will died, I wonder what will happen.
But this way it's also amazing. I think the last episodes was the best. I will give it 9/10
As much as I like Death Parade, that didn't really feel like a conclusive ending. However, it tied up Chiyuki's story and did a good job at that.
The best scene has to be where Chiyuki was conflicted over pressing the button to sacrifice someone's life so she can resume her own normally before she died. Decim's tears though..
Nona confronted Oculus well regarding arbiters not being dummies. Loved how she walked away after stating her point. Would've been epic if she had sunglasses on too! #LivingthePresentLife.
Decim's smile at the end was nice. Still a much better arbiter than that asshole Ginti.
Overall, very good show. 8/10. Looking forward to next Madhouse awesomeness.
Yeah, I feel like this is more of a conclusion to Chiyuki's story and Decim's story than it is to the series overall. I thought the conflict between Nona and Oculus would be more prominent this episode centered around how arbiters should judge human lives. But I guess the ending set it up so that there's hope for the future with Decim?
Basically I agree with everything Vindstot said haha.
Favorite moments of this ep were Chiyuki crying to her mom (;_;), Decim smiling, and Chiyuki's mannequin at the end. Favorite episode was probably 3 still.
Oh, pitiful shadow cloaked in darkness. Thy actions cause men pain and suffering. Thy hollow soul drowns in thy sins. How would you like to see what death is like? -Enma Ai
Not gonna lie, i liked Death Billiards better.Still very good, but i think that they definitely could've done even better if they wanted to.
Anyways, i think that 7/10 would be appriopriate - but since i'm in good mood, OP&ED were great, and Decim's first smile was hilarious i'll go with 8/10.
The finale was a tad underwhelming, but everything turned good (or turned painful?) when separation time came. That was painful.
Nice character development on Decim's part... Did I just see Chiyuki's doll at the end? That was a bit... creepy. Still, good that unlike other dolls, hers is superior-looking. Hints Decim had special feelings for her. I wonder if these two will ever meet again. You know Death Parade wouldn't be the same without Chiyuki :/
Man, this show could use another season. I dunno... Is it going to end just like this? For real? I hope there's news on S2 cuz I am not that fond of this end (except the parting scene)
I havent seen an anime like this Ever... really touching ending. I guess Ginti was ass till the end and i feel bad for that rockstart and the girl who loved him. Wish they had a better ending.
Clearly one of the better shows of the past year- 9/10
For a person who didn't really know how they would end things I thought this was a good episode. The scene with Decim, Chiyuki, and her mom was intense. Decim getting emotions was predictable, but I wasn't expecting like that. So he just her and sent her to be reincarnated. Also mad respect to Ginti for the Chiyuki's mannequin.
Overall really enjoyed this series. I like the twist they put on death and added the crazy games made it more awesome. Also seems like the point of the series was for Chiyuk to change Decim. Best anime of this season.
Decim's smile so cute ; ^ ;
Honestly though, when he was screaming and yelling I felt kinda awkward. It felt really forced. I'll miss this series <3
I actually burst out in a laugh cry when the credits rolled and Chiyuki was there right beside him in puppet form :') I really hope they'll meet again, but under different circumstances.
the ending tied things together nicely and was as close to a "happy end" as this kind of a show can provide. Seeing Decim tearing up like that was quite unexpected.
Madhouse has delivered some solid shows with Parasyte and now Death Parade. I look forward to see what they do next.

So Oculus did nothing lol. And just a big ass tease thrown in for a season 2. I don't think, it's gonna happen though.
Good ending nevertheless, i feel like some things weren't explained properly, but i can look over that somewhat. Decim crying was touching, Onna crying though got me more in this episode.
