Before going into my reviewing philosophy, a quick overview of my anime viewing history is in order. I grew up watching Sailormoon, Pokemon and Gundam Wing and whatever Fox Kids decided to throw on including the short-lived Escaflowne. Over the years, I picked up series here and there, from Hellsing to Evangelion to 5cm per Second but I never followed anything week to week until the Fall 2013 Season. Since then, I follow roughly 10-15 series a season as well as going through the backlog of past shows at the same time. I also like to go through the expanded universe of a show whenever possible; being light novels, manga or even fanfiction. My viewing preference is of the dark and mature variety that explores the depth of humanity. However, I do like to think that I have a high tolerance for shows on the other side of the anime spectrum which includes moe, slice of life and lighter flair but it would not be something I automatically gravitate towards.
Review Philosophy:
When watching and rating a piece of animation, my core philosophy is entertainment. I use entertainment as more of a blanket statement rather than its narrow definition that some reader might take it to mean. I see being entertained as having the various aspects of the show, such as emotion, drama, plot, visuals, sound and action having an impact on the viewer. I look at what the creator or studio tried to do with their work, whether being a comedy, drama or action, and then compared them to their respective counterparts within the genre. For a show to truly shine, it must be excel in all aspects that the show process and truly hit the viewer with its message.

Reviews shouldn't contain events from the story, they're not plot summaries. If you absolutely have to mention one event, try being more vague. People who've watched the show will understand it, and people who haven't won't have plot points spoiled for them.
Always remember to be considerate to the people who haven't watched the show yet when writing your reviews, they're meant to be your main audience.
