BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT OF 2017 GOES TO...

Mobile Suit Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans S2.
I was more disappointed in how they have so much buildup but execute each one so terribly.
Gundam Bael, Agnika Kael's Gundam that is legendary? Nope. we're gonna show nothing that makes it different from any other Gundam and we'll let it lose easily. Seriously this gundam only had 2 swords that broke so easily without any other redeeming feature. Using Bael as a political device really was the only thing it had.
Any developments for characters? Not really. Every character pretty much stayed the same throughout the entire show without any signs of growth or change to show they have developed. All of them just stayed the same and did the same thing over and over or they became out of character full on retard to accomplish nothing.
Become the King of Mars? Nope, that's just a dream and we're going to make Tekkadan lose in a disgraceful way killing off many characters that you loved.
Mikazuki becoming strong and portrayed as a devil? That's cool but since Mika became too strong we're gonna have to shoehorn a way to defeat him by using asspull illegal weapon dainsleif to weaken him and then slay him.
McGillis's vision of new Gjallarhorn and how he was smart and strong? Yeah, towards the end we're gonna show him becoming a retard who thinks he can take on Gjallarhorn by himself and lose in the most lamest way.
McGillis and Tekkadan alliance fighting against the corrupt Gjallarhorn? Nope, we're not going to show a full on war/battle but show Mcgillis losing without any strategy and have Tekkadan run away.
Introduction to new characters that seemed important in S2?
Nope, they will seem relevant but are actually completely irrelevant and some will die for no reason.
Kudelia Aina Bernstein shown as Maiden of Revolution and a huge buildup in season 1?
We're going to not give her any important screen-time in S2 and have her do
absolutely nothing. Lets also throw away all feelings she has for Mika and have it
tossed aside.
There are so much more I can go off of but this series really really disappointed me in how much they COULD have done but ended up doing nothing amazing with it. It's like they had TOO much buildup and struggled to end each one in the best way manner. (Jack of all trades, Master of none.) Seriously this gundam had close to everything you could want in a gundam series; action, friendship, family, romance, cool gundam designs, underdog story, ambition, awesome protagonists, evil antagonists, etc. but ended up being half-assed in every trait.
It seems like Okada and the writers were just completely lost and confused throughout season 2 on what to do. Many characters were killed off just to trigger an emotion off of us or use it as a plot device in the most unfitting way. Mikazuki dying was one of the weirdest thing I felt in the anime. This show emphasized on the importance of family but soon as Mika was going to have a new family with Atra he ends up sacrificing himself for his current family (Tekkadan). I understand why he would but just don't see why the writers didn't show Mika have any single regret for his death. Also what kind of show allows the antagonist who uses illegal weapons and manipulation of politics win in the end? It destroys the mood and atmosphere of the anime showing that power/corruption will win against ambition and dreams. 10/10 anime that became a trainwreck into 7/10 at most. Hell, at this point I want to feel like this is a bait to a new season/OVA/movie to truly conclude the story in a better way. There are signs like Bael still existing, few unconfirmed deaths, and obviously new generation of the main character. They can have a new war with rebellions due to Rustal's corruption becoming public or some event to trigger a war to clean end this alternate universe. Otherwise, fuck IBO.

I feel the same way about Oregairu Season 3. I still enjoyed it a lot, but Season 2 is leagues better in my opinion. I can't explain it, but as you said, something definitely felt off.

By and large, the first series Chaotic Century. Then the second series New Century/Zero. Those two will give you the most idea of what Zoids is and are overall the most interesting ones.
