Ranma in a nutshell. He/she is treated like a goof but I do like their determination this episode.

They actually took this to national TV so Ranma would have to compete on a grand stage. One of the most tense and entertaining competition I've seen out of this season. Kodachi is entertaining to watch too imo.

The showdown between Kodachi and Ranma is finally here and it was one hell of a competition between them. Kodachi is the master of playing dirty and she doesn't hesitate to even use her biological brother. She just chucked him into the fight like it was nothing. LOL.

Ranma fought hard and with a few assists from Ranma's dad and Akane, his and Ryoga's identities are safe for another day. Ranma did win but as expected Kodachi is not going to back away from her love for Saotome Ranma. The audience making the excuses for the similar names was funny. Great episode.

"She was actually handling dozens of clubs at once!" Pause

And lmao "Biological brother, allowed!"

This was a crazy fun match. If she doesn't fight for you like Kodachi, she ain't the right one.

Good to see this finally back over an 8 where it belongs! Nonstop ridiculousness in this episode lmao. This was anything but a normal gymnastics competition as you’d imagine with Kodachi and Ranma.

Kodachi really a generational cheater. Not only was she trying to sabotage Ranma in the buildup to the fight, but even during the fight she literally threw in everything but the kitchen sink 😂 can’t believe she even used her brother as a weapon. I got so anxious when she brought out the hot water, thank goodness Akane and Mr. Satome were watching and ready to help! MAPPA as usual delivered on the action scenes too.

So Kodachi let go of her current love of Ranma and will just start a new love tomorrow lmaoo. I’m glad and looking forward to seeing more of her. She’s such a fun character

I think this is the first serious fight of this anime, and it's actually well done. But I kinda wanna have a better look at male Ranma in leotard and naked Ryouga though.

Really well done by Mappa, love that midair swim scene.

Of course just losing would not stop Kodachi, cheating is kinda her thing lol.

First serious fight for Ranma girl, and she takes the match, despite all the tricks.

Very fun fight and funny episode, can't wait for more. I love the remake so far.

The intro scene was short in this episode. But it was fun to see Ranko and Ryoga getting the spotlight this time.

Kodachi vs Ranma was actually really well-animated. Mappa is doing a great job.

Kodachi's movesets were literally "Random Bullshit Go!" lmfao. The way she threw her brother at Ranma was hilarious.

So, everyone finally learns Ranko's name. But they just chalk it up to coincidence. Ig most normal people wouldn't conclude male and female Ranma are one and the same.

Kodachi forgets her old love for Ranma... only to get a new love for him instead. This girl is hopeless lol. She might be the craziest character of the series and is one of my favorite girls of Ranma 1/2 for sure.

I'm always surprised by how kind and patient Ranma is. Ryouga is such an annoying character. I'd have thrown him under the bus almost instantly. The fact Ranma keeps his secret safe through all the crap Ryouga pulls is almost Jesus levels of turning the other cheek.

This adaptation is (currently) so much better than the Urusei Yatsura remake's adaptation of its manga. The UY remake adapted chapters in a different order from how it was in the manga. With the Ranma 1/2 remake, it adapts the chapters of its manga in the correct order, e.g. adapting chapter 1, then chapter 2, then chapter 3 etc, like a proper adaptation. Hasn't skipped any chapters yet either. Maybe it's because the earliest parts of the Ranma 1/2 story has a continuous plot that unfolds in sequential episode-by-episode fashion, before it becomes episodic, but yeah, it's perfectly adapted so far. Would be a shame if it started skipping adapting chapters when it becomes episodic, if the adaptation ends up being as short as the UY remake. Especially when they seem to be doing a direct adaptation of the manga. But if Gintama can get a complete adaptation, Ranma 1/2 should get one too.

Oh, and it's in this point that Ranma 1/2 (1989) started adapting chapters in a different order. In Ranma 1/2 (1989), instead of adapting chapters 23 and 24 in the next canon episode (the original had a filler episode after this), it adapted chapters 30, 31 and 32 instead. Let's see what the remake does in its next episode. I'm expecting chapters 23, 24 and 25 to be adapted next.

The show still has 4 more regular supporting characters that it has yet to introduce. I think only 1 more will be shown in this season (Shampoo, who is in the OP), and the rest will be introduced in latter seasons (the first season is only 1 cour).

And for those that don't know already, Makoto Shinkai took inspiration from Ranma 1/2 when he made Kimi no Na wa. idk thought that was interesting.

Kodachi v Ranma is up their with weirdest fight I have seen and there probably be more in this anime. It's treated like some national sports broadcast on TV or something. And the "tools" covers pig, desk, water and big brother. Kuno got hurled into the fight with no hesitation. Not just cheating how she cheated is just genius.

Ranma secret is so unbelievable even with so much evidence no one is suspecting and thanks to assist of Akane & Ranma sr. It's still safe.
And after hard fought win Ranma still ain't saved from Kodachi as expected she didn't kept promise. Making this pointless "match" even more pointless.

There were some circumstances about that:
When the anime was made it originally followed this order as well, having Shampoo debut after the Golden Pair. However the Golden Pair episodes were delayed due to cultural sensitivities at the time. Serial killer Tsutomu Miyazaki (宮﨑勤) was on a rampage between August of 1988 until he was caught in July of 1989 (just a month before this episode aired) [...] Consequently, episode "The Abduction of P-Chan" was a title that was too provocative at the time. As a result the episodes were removed and shuffled later in the sequel series after things had calmed down in the media

In any I case, they made a mess with season 2 with a lot of useless changes and changing a bit the order (or better, they skipped some stories and some of them were adpted way later). I suppose in any case they would skip something in the 2nd cour

Ryoga has a stake in this tournament as he sees an opportunity to get with Akane.
Now the school knows female Ranma and male Ranma share the same name. For a brief moment from the hot water, they saw his silhouette too but Akane and Genma keep his secret with the water hose. Akane didn't notice P-chan's human form is Ryoga, though.
Damn, gymnast equipment even furniture, HER OWN BROTHER? Anything can be Kodachi's weapon, this compliments Ranma's anything goes martial arts. Guess he learnt from his mistakes sparring with Genma in Jusenkyo as the wring is reduced only to its posts and edges, Ranma uses it to deliver the winning move.

Ranma vs Kodachi was quite the entertaining battle. Kodachi had a ton of schemes, but literally having her team under the ring and moving it so she wouldn't ring out was the wildest thing ever.

Also what a perfect decision it was to chain P-Chan to Ranma. Practically turned the battle into a 2v1!

Well it unfortunately wasn’t as spicy as the original episode which had plenty of ass shots, even a handful of feet shots lol, but that’s a light complaint as MAPPA absolutely delivered on this episode, very smooth art and animation, and the fight kept its wackiness which I loved from the OG. I do kinda wish they did more with the girls under the ring like the OG did, but I’m glad the joke wasn’t skipped entirely at least, it is quite insane that Kodachi had her whole team set up like that lol.

And like I mentioned in the OG episode, I still think it’s pretty dumb Ranma dropped his real name here, of course no one made the connection but why would you wanna put that out there that you might be the same person lol, this isn’t any development by Ranma either since he’s still secretive about it beyond this, so I just found it odd, it’s a good thing he had Genma and Akane’s help with the water later tho, otherwise it could have been really bad lol. But that’s it for Kodachi’s introductory arc, even after 100+ episodes it’s still one of my favorite fights in the series, loved getting to see it remade, I’m looking forward to whatever arc they adapt next, this is where things might change from the OG since it moved arcs around to save the show at the time, I’m interested in seeing what’s next.

Man I love this! Ranma½ is definitely my favorite anime of this season. All the over-the-top comedy (in a good way) from the 80s and 90s is perfectly presented in this anime, not to mention the great animation and a great cast characters.

Kodachi is really a sadist lol she never gives up, and always with her "mischiefs". It was an excellent episode, I wasn't bored for even a second. Perfect remake so far.

All those Kodachi traps, St. Hebereke school was ok with this?

Nice introduction, it seems like a real boxing match with all this hype. Glad the pretty referee has more or less stayed the same.

LOL, Kuno needs to write the pigtailed girl name, by mere coincidence the same one of his biggest high school foe. Why?

Still, goddamn the fight is pure madness both epic and amusing at the same time (but... poor Ryoga)

Kodachi may have lost the fight but not her weird personality, i ask myself now if she could bond with Ryoko Mendo from another series by the same author
