Damn, that was even better than the 1st episode. I'm loving this show. I really hope ENGI can keep the quality level stable, aka, not fuck it up.

While this was a good episode, some questionable directing choices. Maybe because of budget limitations?

Particularly, they changed the 'you don't have to listen to people who can't skate' scene, where in the manga it's much more dramatic as Hikaru skates backwards onto the ice while dragging Inori as she says it.

Hikaru-chan is soo cool and cute, I'm already a fan~!<3 X'39

I knew we were going to get another catalyst for Inori to progress, and it seems Hikaru was the one! Once again the CG during the ice skating scenes is really well done, I think its the best CG I've seen in an anime in a while!

The OP already was Godly to listen to but with the opening animation it was even cooler!!<3 <3 X'39 Yonezu-Sensei's done it again, sasuga!vuv nmh

Idk why but this show really makes me want to gush about and talk about for hours! I get this stupid grin on my face whenever I think about it, ahh~!XD
Depending on how it turns out, it'll probably become another All Time Favorite of mine!<3 ^V^9

@DOJAS If you mean "this" event, then in everyone's opinion, Inori should have won.

It's not apparent now, but it's a budding rivalry between the main skaters.

Same and agree about Hikaru and Inori.

@doomrider7 I can understand the puns with the title, but sexualizing the wholesome friendship of two little girls and unironically talking about some kind of yuri vibes or even subtext would clearly be over the top here. Although as I see it, any friendship theme in battle/sport shonen instantly gets this from shippers (even if we ignore the fact that you are an obvious yuri fan).

That new girl Hikaru is an amazing skater and I'm glad that she is willing to make friends with Inori. Speaking of Hikaru, I wonder if that was her dad that had some kind of meltdown and broke his phone that Inori witnessed as Hikaru mentioned not having a mom. Regardless of who he is I'm thinking that he will come into play in the future.

Beyond that it was nice to see Inori pass her first exam with flying colors and is very eager to learn jumps.

@RobertBobert

I have ZERO IDEA where you're even getting the sexualizing thing from AT ALL since there's nothing inherently sexual about. People have been commenting on it for years since the manga very much framed it in such a way with the subtext.

@doomrider7 Because seeing romantic attraction in ordinary childhood friendships actually sexualizes them. It would be one thing if it were harmless puppy love, but this is literally wholesome friendship. And don't tell me what shippers or the typical sports manga "audience" commented on here. I've had enough people unironically think for years that "one show about volleyball" is unironically BL. I don't see a problem if you ship them with each other, I can't and don't want to prohibit anything. It's your business. But I highly doubt that there was any intentional subtext there at all.

That blond asshole is no different from Anna from Shaman King. Completely unprovoked rudeness. The only difference is he got slapped after being rude (good), while Anna the coward gets away with being rude when she should've gotten slapped for her behaviour towards Manta as well.

I like it when a show centered around kids has kids acting like kids.
I haven't updated in years but now I have changed that. I'll be free soon.

Much better than episode 1. I have to say that far from liking the opening I feel like I'm getting a huge spoiler. I already feel like I watched the whole series, I hope I'm wrong.

@Arvin_Washbear agree. Americans wanting to LOCALISE it when forgetting that the rest of the English speaking world don't inject Internet lingo in normal day to day conversations.
@Nork22 it is genuinely so cringy. i wish fansubs were back but they are leaving it in the hands of corpos.

Honestly, I love the comedic frames in this series—they’re really great and make it so entertaining!

I don’t really care about skating and find it boring. Plus, since I live in a desert region, skating is pretty rare here. But the anime gives a nice impression of the sport.

I really liked the protagonist’s friend—I love cheerful characters!
I love slice-of-life works.

It's been a long while since Kenshi Yonezu took the reins for the OP, and this is a fine OP all things considered. Neguse's ED is pretty much in the same ballpark.

Tsukasa's lessons for Inori may be rough in the beginning, but taking the Prelim Badge Test will help progress her competitiveness close to the young kids of her age who are also in their Prelim tests. But it's the sight of Inori being terrified of the bad things happening around her, much less encountering a renwoned skating pair...to only be more traumatized by the sequence of events right in her face. Sensing discontentment within her heart, Tsukasa tries to alleviate the fear from within, and one by one, the skating tests pass with ease...until she hits middle school.

Inori hearing the parents' feedback may have demotivated her, but it's Hikaru Kamisaki who lifts her off into the skating rink, showing the magnificence of her stint being the winner of Japan's Novice B tournament. And that may have given too much overbearing for Inori to overcome by learning the jump from someone who's the same age as her, it's just the stark contrast between someone trained and someone who's just starting out.

Inori earning the Badge is not enough now, mastering the jumps is another in short time.

this was a cute episode, but i swear if the little guy with anger issues shows up like that one more time i'm dropping the show, he irked me so much his attitude genuinely ruined my viewing experience lol
