If you want a bit of history... started consuming Japanese media when I was young.
It was always available on TV, whether it being dubbed into Malay, Mandarin, or Japanese with Malay subs. Anime and Tokusatsu were my childhood.
Moved to a Western country and found that Westerners are a weird bunch where they think anime is either kids stuff or gory art house films.
I've seen a shift in perspective for the last 30 years and Japanese content is really more accessible these days.
I'm thankful for the changes, but I'm wary of the things normies/tourist are doing to Japanese culture. Let us hope that the Japanese still take pride in producing content for Japanese for the next 30 years and onwards.

Anyway, if you can't tell, I've now enjoying the idol life and live for a lot of idol content.
