Damn, this got way complicated with Yukio arrested and all hell breaking loose. Luckily, they managed to save Yukio but he's still far from his normal self.

This episode does a really good job at setting for the Blue Saga arc imo as it gets all the cast together to face a bigger threat. Oh Yukio...the shit he's been through yet his friends still care about him, especially Rin. This episode reached another emotional peak. Can't wait for next season.

I mean, this outcome was pretty obvious since that Illuminati dude told Yukio that last season, the outcome of him joining the Illuminati himself, that is. But really though, this guy Yukio... who was whining about losing Shirou back then? Now he’s just stomping all over Shirou's love like it’s garbage. My question though, why’s he mad? They were just using clones for the experiment. If he cared so much about clones, then why hate on Shirou? Also, you can't convince me otherwise that this dude Yukio is American, because at this point, who hasn't this dude pointed a gun at?

But holy fuck man, to think, that the sword that's been hype dup as indestructible since season one, just be destroyed like that... damn man. Which allows Satan to finally come out and talk to his son, while this dude Yukio just straight up ditches lol. Meanwhile, Rin over here is just turned to straight fucking charcoal... LOL. Though, this being a shounen and all, there has to be the classic facing you inner self arc, and honestly, with the OST and everything, this fucking rocked man. Also loving that new hairstyle of Rin's. The white and faint blue really do fit him icl.

Though, yeah, now that everything is out there, it's only natural that Rin would want to know what he actually is, how he was born etc... Which he'll finally learn in the next cour.

Can't even sit here and lie, I enjoyed the hell out of this season. Easily the best season to come out of this franchise. Animation, yeah still iffy, but whatever man, the story was just way too fucking amazing. Can't wait for the next cour of this.

How long has Rin had that key...? I don't remember when he got it lol

Dude this episode went by way too fast

That was a lot to take in. So Yukio is gone, he's with the illuminati now, and Rin is going to the past while everyone else does their own thing in the present. The title for the next season makes more sense now.

Also is it me or did animation quality kind of drop in this last episode? Might just be me...

Overall, I liked this episode, and I'm really excited to see where this goes! The next season starts like a few weeks from now so that's great, and the first episode is 'Shiro and Yuri'. Looking forward to it!

@tsubasalover makes me wonder if the next season will be entirely in the past and we won't be going back to the present until the end. That visual makes me think it will but idk. Looking forward to seeing more of Yuri though <3

We still got another three months of this nonsense. I also have to know; what kind of rational logical person would betray everyone and everything they’ve ever known just because they don’t know the circumstances of their birth? Because Yukio is supposed to be a rational logical person and all we’ve been getting this season is his whining and an inferiority complex

Took me all this time but I finally understand why some people like Yukio so much and insists he's the better one. Because he is a great brother who'll put multiple bullets into his brother for no reason, truly an absolute piece of garbage ahem I mean great guy. His fans must be proud.

Anyway Rin looks cool with white hair. Plus those blue flames, super neat. Mephisto was waiting for this moment all along. For Rin to ask about his past. We are finally about to witness what happened back then, been really interested so looking forward to it.

Pretty good first cour. One that changed the course of the series and left the world in chaos. Break next week and we continue with second cour from january.

Yeah, it was a pretty good season. Yet another season I liked more than S2 (the Kyoto saga). Nice to see the main protagonist go out of control. Rin has a new look now, I guess? Is it permanent? And we only have to wait 2 weeks for the next season of Blue Exorcist, because this season and the next season are considered 2 separate seasons for some reason, despite not having an actual break (3 or more months) between seasons. Definitely odd but I'm glad we're having 6 months of Blue Exorcist. Manga has so many chapters yet to be adapted because of the 5 year gap between S1 and S2 and the 7 year gap between S2 and S3. Plus, the manga is still ongoing even today, even though the manga started 15 years ago.

Also, I just realised that this is currently the second-highest rated/ranking Blue Exorcist season on MAL, having a slightly higher rating than S2 (Kyoto arc), which was animated by A-1 Pictures. Good. I'm glad a season made by Studio VOLN now has a season rated higher than a season made by A-1 Pictures, especially since the Kyoto arc is crap, and everything after that arc is way better.

that whole first few minutes felt like whiplash. Looking at manga, they didnt adapt a few scenes to build it up. I understand because of time constraints, but man it felt jarring to see them. We missed out on some small details imo.
New look to Rin and now he will go back to the past. Very interesting.

Many people saying the animation problems, but lets be clear. This season has the best storytelling comparing to last seasons. Loved Yukio's character development, like he is the mc in this season. Focusing Yukio rather than Rin, makes this season more interesting I think. Looking forward to next season, it will be better for sure. Rin finally goes to past and he is going to see how they were born. Blue Night is the most important event in this series, fans waited so long for that arc. Satan, Yuri, Shiro and more to be seen. We are gonna witness an epic arc boys. I hope that the Studio won't fail us, this arc needs a peak adaptation...

Of course Yukio as a character gets even worse, if that's possible, and Shima is once again doing stupid shit and no one bats an eye. I don't even care what happens to Rin anymore.

The last season was already mediocre at best, but this was just straight up trash. I never liked Yukio, so this season focusing so much on him was already a bad time for me. And who would've thought that Shima would be up to no good after being revealed as a spy in the last season except everyone? The higher ups in this show are so braindead, it hurts... 2/10

The last episode just happens to be the best one, ok.

I will never understand how can everyone be so chill about Mephisto, that motherfucker has been the most annoying asshole since the very 1st episode, he always makes it clear that he is a demon and everyone are like toys for him, yet people doesn't care.

Oh, and Shima, I FUCKING HATE SHIMA, now what? Is he gonna show up at school again like nothing and the group of assholes will again be like "uuuh you suck but ok no problem bro"? I fucking hope not.

Next season got announced, starts on Jan.5, kinda weird they decided to split every arc into seasons instead of just making a long cheap anime, but in the end that's for the best, I don't like this very much, is good but just that... but I have to accept that the animation and artstyle is on point for a show like this so if having 50 different seaons means the quality will be always good the by all means.
Sorry if my english is bad (っ˘▽˘)っ~~~

Didn’t expect Rin literally getting roasted and turning into a full blown demon with white hair. It’s pretty cool look, but i do miss his jet black hair.

Yukio has seriously lost it. It’s too bad that he felt inferior to Rin and developed hostility towards him. All his rationality went down the drain. But I guess the truth about True Cross would be hard to bear, considering he looked up to that place so much.

Can’t wait to learn more about the past

Dude has 16 years of inferiority complex, daddy issues, unresolved traumas and satan is talking to him in this head. Not to mention, the pillar, the foundation upon his whole world was built (Order and Shiro being good guys) got shattered.
The only nonsense is that he was able to hold on this long and he didn't snap earlier.

One full week has passed since I watched this episode and, in view of my future review of the entire series, my commentary here will be quite short.

I have only one thing to say: Absolute Cinema ✋🥲✋

This final episode was quite simply grandiose, and a fitting conclusion to a 4th season that totally exceeded my expectations. This 12th episode graced us with the scene that, for me, is the most iconic in the manga: the liberation of Rin's heart. So, admittedly, it was short. But boy, was it intense! The music, the va's, the atmosphere, the animation, EVERYTHING! For me, it was all done to perfection. Voln has succeeded in paying tribute in the best possible way to this anime that was struggling to dazzle this generation.

The rest will be in my review of the anime, but for now, one last thing I must say: Thank you so much for reviving this sumptuous series, Voln, thank you from the bottom of my heart!

What a way to end a season!

Rin goes to save his brother, Yukio, only for Yukio to go and betray Rin and join the Illuminati. Rin, shocked and confused, just wanted an explanation, but was met with bullets by Rin. SAVAGE!!!

I can only imagine the heartbreak and betrayal that Rin must have felt at that moment. the fact he didn’t go rage mode shows how hurt he was.

You know once the Koma sword broke it was rage mode pt. 2 time. But actually seeing Rin’s demon heart return to his body and seeing his body burn from his own flame was crazy! Amaimon’s narrative made it even more intense, but Rin had enough willpower to resist his demon side. Now we have a badass transformation!

Cunning Mephisto finally gives us the chance to find the answers seek. but of course we’re left with a cliffhanger. At least it’s not a long wait

Man this season annoyed me. Every character acting dumb ass fuck. Why has no one beat Yukios ass this whole season? mf been out of control and no one has even tried to set him straight. Also lets be honest after everything is said and done and its all settled I can guarantee that Yukio wont face a single consequence for everything hes done, its always like that with these animes. Oh and how convenient that Rin goes out of control when the one person who he can turn that power against is already long gone. Keeping Shima around may be the dumbest shit ever though, the mf betrayed everyone once already and had zero plans to leave the illuminati yet they thought keeping him around would be a good idea, its fucking dumb, no one suffers consequences for their actions in this show.
