Even in the manga (which the anime is following perfectly), the story doesn't really pick up until about volume 10/11/12 I'd say? I can't recall because my reread has brought me to volume 9 where we are still diving into different zodiacs. Now the anime has done some rearranging in terms of the source material but THIS IS a character driven series. The characters are the core foundation of the series and if you're not into the build up @sugarpeach, then I'd agree with Lily here and say this show isn't for you. I'm actually really happy we're getting build up and I can see where the constant introduction to a new character can be overwhelming and seem like lazy writing, but there is a purpose to its narrative. Some of the main characters are more complex than others (i.e Kyo, Yuki, & Akito), but they all serve some kind of purpose/message. This is a coming of age story so it might not appeal to people over he age of 18 as it's about the curse itself ofc, but also the complexities of adolescence, growing up, falling in love, and overall just complicated family dynamics. |

| It was nice to see Kisa again and knowing that she is doing well at school really warms my heart. Hiro, on the other hand... what an annoying brat for God's sake. I mean, I can (to some extent) understand his behaviour, he's still a kid after all, but I really hope he shows up in the series as little as possible from now on. P.S.: By the way, Akito can be burned alive for having sent Kisa to the hospital. |
| I was watching this with my friend Aisu and he kept making jokes about shooting the kid throughout the episode, a sentiment I see many people in this thread expressing in various ways, but I honestly kinda liked him. He's a little bitch, but a witty one. I thought he was funny. But man, I get the feeling I'm missing many of the subtleties memeing over this show instead of actually paying attention. I missed that Akito beat Kisa -- going back to it, I see how it is very subtlely implied -- and this isn't the first time the discussion thread has highlighted some feeling or implication I missed out on. |

IT'S HERE. a SOB STORY. hmm. you know actually?? kinda like the kid now. god damn, he is not so bad honestly now i know he suffered some shit. poor child! he gets my official permission to beat the crap out of Tohru. if you live a troubled life you basically get a pass to abuse others. at least that seems to be a legit thing for the majority of ppl commenting here. mmmkay . . . and once again Tohru is a 100% doormat which is presented like a good, heavenly, noble thing. been there myself done that. that's why i'm especially angry. i see my past self in her -i'm still watching for my own reasons- don't reply if you disagree with me on anything i won't respond anyways |

| I really hate Hiro. I hated this episode in the original series and I still hate it. Hiro makes me ashamed to be born in the year of the sheep. Worst character in the entire series by far. I like Akito more than him and Akito is a jerk. |
| This was a fairly good episode. Hiro started out really annoying cause he's jealous of Tohru and since he's still a kid he can't do shit. (well, actually no one can do shit against the "head"... so I guess that didn't really matter if you're a kid or adult there) But the end of episode was much nicer as Hiro now respect Tohru after her usual Life-inspiring speech, lol. |

| Hiro was introduced as an annoying brat but as the episode progressed my annoyance turned into hatred, not towards Hiro, but towards Akito. Seriously wtf is her problem? For some reason I feel the show will try to redeem her later or make us sympathize with her which I doubt is going to succeed (if that happens that is) But really, why are they even listening to Akito? Especially older clan members since I doubt Akito is that much older than Tuki or Kyo. |
| Hiro is such a brat, he's really annoying to watch. But I have a bit of sympathy to his situation. How fucked up is Akito in the head to beat up a child because another child has developed feelings for her? I'm curious really as to what the curse of the Zodiac is, since it seems very much like Akito is the worst curse right now. I don't know if there's any way to redeem Akito right now. Still, I dislike Hiro the most out of every character so far because he's so annoying, but I understood him a bit more by the end of the episode. Maybe it was because of his total disrespect for Tohru, and that bit about her just being a mama's girl. You don't know shit, boy. He should've got a slap for that. And yeah, Tohru is just too submissive sometimes. She's not their maid or anything, she doesn't need to follow Hiro's condescending orders. But I guess Tohru is just too kind and pure. Wish I could be like her. |

| Even if Hiro acts so nasty, I still like him pretty much! At the very least, I get to see Tooru handling more difficult personalities from time to time, which makes things a bit more interesting! I believe Kyou also had a bad attitude in the beginning of the series, but he changed pretty fast. I wonder if it will be the same with Hiro 😋? It kind of scared me how bluntly Hiro asked Tooru if she could heal wounds of the heart. It felt like she was given away and that would have made her work harder 😅. However, I do admit that for Hiro it was a logical assumption after seeing what happened with Kisa. Even so, imho you cannot heal anyone's heart if that person doesn't actively participate to the whole process. Therefore, I would say that Kisa too has her merit in how things progressed for her. I confess I was totally thrown off by what Akito did!😨 I thought that Akito had a problem only with couples where one of the partners was not from the zodiac! I even remember that, at the beginning of the series, Kagura and Shigure mentioned something about marriages between members of the zodiac being more suitable since the two could hug without transforming. Besides, wasn't Akito's aim to keep the zodiac members together? Hiro and Kisa are both zodiac members, so what is going on here?!? I think I need to see more of the anime to clarify myself 😅. One more observation: Hiro and Kisa seem a lot younger than they really are!! I would say third grade at most 😂! |

| I agree that hiro was annoying and rude but I like him. Tori, Yuki, everybody is scared of Akito and this kid went and talked to him which resulted in kisa getting hospitalized, it is definitely too much. he's trying to cope up in a way that's possible for him. But you know about the sohma in-house therapist Tooru, she's gonna change him. |

| Out of all the Soumas I’ve met so far, Hiro is definitely the one I don’t like the most. I mean I should be fair he’s a little boy and he has been through quite a bit so it seems with Akito ruining what bit of love he had for Kisa earlier on his life, to the point that not only did Akito ATTACK a little girl may I add but hospitalised her entirely for 2 weeks. 2 WHOLE WEEKS! That’s literally abuse right there! But even with that backstory and I understand how Hiro would act how he does, it’s no excuse for what he does to Tohru in this episode. I mean he literally acts like a spoiled brat to her, treats her like she was a servant and always acts like he’s smart when he doesn’t know a damn thing what’s going on. There were times that like Kyo I wanted to punch him but again he’s a kid and jeez he should’ve at least had a little bit of respect for Tohru instead of again treating her like crap. Again there’s literally no excuse for him to act like this to a person he’s only just met and for what? For what? The fact that Kisa is around Tohru a bit more now? Never mind the fact that Tohru just HELPED HER be talkative again only two episodes ago because she was being bullied for being the quiet kid in school. It took not just Tohru but she had the help of Yuki, Momiji and Haru may I add so it wasn’t JUST Tohru that helped Kisa. That being said I’m not gonna never lie but the interactions Hiro has with Kisa herself are pretty adorable I must admit. Tohru has no hard feelings for him though and just continues to be the sweetheart that she is. |
