My 10-scale:
10/10: Masterpiece on all fronts. One that changed my perception of the meta commentary the show is directed towards, a philosophical connection to theme, and medium defining visual direction
9/10: A near perfect work that cannot be simply categorized or draw resemblance to its contemporaries. It is distinctly bold in its approach to storytelling and the visual medium goes out of its way to offer an irreplaceable perspective on the themes presented.
8/10: Very cool works that I enjoyed from start to finish. It made me noticeably connect to the characters/themes/direction. This ranking is also reserved for particularly masterclass works that greatly exceed genre convention enough to identify its own specifically unique characteristics
7/10: The work is well executed on multiple fronts. The product should exemplify top class values in visual and thematic presentation; as well as tell a captivating story beyond surface level entertainment
6/10: There may be one or more aspects that are specifically utilized to grant greater merit than it's contemporaries. This might be a written or production element that stands out in comparison.
5/10: Handles genre conventions to expectation. An overtly safe approach. Doesn't do anything necessarily good or bad, but can hold up on the basis of being an entertaining product.
4/10: The appeal of the show is objectively clear and may be able to present itself visually. I was glad to have finished it but was not engaged enough on narrative, thematic and/or visual levels to consider having rewatchable value.
3/10: Boring and what felt like a waste of time. Probably riddled with unironic tropes but still had a clear direction in mind, albeit one I generally disliked.
2/10: Conceptually doesn't appeal to me, or was filled with problems. A product I would actively tell people to avoid
1/10: Bad! A transparent lack of effort, budget, or both. Not sure how anyone could enjoy the product at this point unless they were lying to themselves.
Completely unwatchable with zero redeeming qualities. Makes me question why I am even watching anime anymore.
