Psycho AI clone - do anime scientists never learn.....

Hopefully 2 Ep to go, any less might be messy. Mind you there were a few animation issues with this Ep. so they may not have the manpower to do it...

I havent watched the episode, i cant considering my country, but i will say one thing, the next episode is most likely NOT the final episode. The recap wasnt planned thats almost a fact, its very likely that the actual final episode will only get released with the blue ray, similar to what happened to kekkai sensen in the past.

I hope so man. Otherwise, the ending will have to be rushed as fuck

I have a feeling (I've had this since they published the recap episode) that there will be either an hour or so long OVA that they will release, or a movie. Because just in general, 11 episodes isn't enough to put a solid conclusion onto any anime with a solid plotline like WEP that only has 1 season. Now there is also the chance of a second season continuing off of a cliffhanger the final episode may leave us off on. Though with an anime like this a second season is a lot to ask for without making the plot super convoluted and having them add unnecessary plot elements.

tldr: Possibly long OVA or Movie continuing possible cliffhanger on final episode

Wow I did not like this one. I feel like the show's kinda been going off the rails since the "main plot" started getting developed in episode 9. I'm really worried that they're going to oversimplify the whole suicide theme and just go "oh yeah frill is causing them." Hopefully this is bait because the more the plot is being pushed forward, the muddier the themes are becoming.

(Also idk if it's just another case of the accas being wrong or out of touch, but the "she didn't leave a note" line kinda rubs me the wrong way given that a majority of suicide victims don't leave them.)

It is interesting to see peoples reaction of this episode. Some go "This is dumb. The series is turning into crap", some go "this is the best episode yet", and others are just traumatized.

I personally loved the episode. I am worried how the anime will wrap this clusterfuck of a story with multiple themes and character arcs into a cohesive, satisfying ending. But for now, this anime damn good.

Why the fuck can't the Accas clean up their own mess?! The psyches of four girls have to be wrecked for life because they opened Pandora's Box!

Also, if Ura-Acca cremated Frill, how is she still active? I'd also like to know how the Accas left their bodies behind.

nah im not talking about the smear frames but the character faces or head are sometimes drawn in deformed ways but this animation is not Kanada School one so its not intended

clearly the ADs do not have much time considering this was delayed broadcast too
can you show or tell me examples of the off model shots you are talking about ?

im too lazy to make a bunch of image post about that but at around 8:43 you can see the animation has deformed frames like this, just watch it move

see also at 00:27 when Rika walks awkwardly the animation is wonky so there are deformed frames too

those are just 2 examples i immediately thought of since the previous episodes (besides episode 10 too and now 11) have high animation quality like Kyoto Animation have

Now that WEP has moved into this direction, why did they waste all that time with Sensei? They could've used the time to develop this part of the story more. Instead, all we got was this drawn out info dump.

From their experiences of helping other girls that suicided, they can move on from the lost of their loved ones.

From what we have now, I'm gonna take a fat guess and say that "Thanatos" is a codename/name for the "virus" that frill put into place. I could be completely wrong about this because that doesn't completely explain the weird bug people. I don't have any possible explanation for Eros though, that is my guess on "who" Thanatos is in this. It would make sense because Thanatos is supposedly what is causing this temptation of death

nah the AI uses quantum computer brain is my guess and it exploited quantum phenomena like parallel universe like said on the last Neiru focused episode

so the AI Frill is in a parallel universe at least her consciousness

That monster wing-head thing in the beginning is honestly awesome and terrifying. I commend the creativity of the writers, it honestly had me tense from the first few minutes of the episode.

Anyways, what is even happening anymore. Why didn't they show what happened with the creepy teacher and what even is this plot? Like, turns out girls aren't actually depressed and just kill themselves because of robot girl and her computers and her robot children, I don't get it.

Why are the characters even doing the things that they do, everyone is so unnatural and awkward, imo it kinda doesn't fit with the controversial themes that the show addresses, or maybe not so real after all and some suicide hoax apparently.

It's still entertaining somewhat and there isn't much stuff to compare it to, I am just hoping they pull through with the last episode and just tell us that the teacher is a pedo (though that would be quite predictable so maybe it wouldn't be that great I'd rather be surprised).

Rika still exists so that's something at least...

This really puts Acca and Ura-acca in a whole different light. That's some messed up shit they had to go through, with Frill being the cause of it al. How Jealousy of an ai can lead to the murder of your wife and your daughter at a later age. That's just harsh man. Robbed them of all their happiness, by something they created themselves.

I swear, I will never look the same at that sounds Frill made with her lips.. That's creepy af now.

With 2 episodes to go (question remains when we'll be able to see Ep 13), I wonder how they are going wrap this up.

Acca and Ura Acca get explored, they have a very deep backstory. Apparently they were a couple and together decided to creat an AI, a 14-year-old girl that was named Frill. At first they used to have fun and give Frill their time and attention but one day that changes when Acca and Ura Acca meet a girl that after time marries Acca and that causes friction in the group because Acca and Ura Acca weren't able to give her the same attention that they used to. Frill in a showing of rebellion kills Acca's wife but she was able to shortly before dying give birth to a girl that she had with Acca, her name was Himari. Frill ends up killing Himari too and Acca frustrated with her attempts to burn her.

The Acca's backstory was done really well, I liked how they got explored.

Poor Rika her baby boy Mannen waa killed and she had the same fate as Momoe, being traumatized by Dot who apparently is just a pawn of Frill. I wonder how is this gonna develop, i hope there's more to it than a big fight between Ai and Frill but even if that happens i'm sure it will be well done.

Looks like there are two more episodes to go - with the scheduling issues they've been having I can't see them dropping both Ep next week (like AoT just did).

So are we having 1 Ep. then the finale on DVD/BD only? or as an OVA later in the year when there's space in the schedules?

Worse still only if it gets picked up for an English dub - I suppose with it being Anime only they could extend it for a second cour if there's enough talent/ideas for another 11 episodes and there's enough popularity.

It was confirmed that there will be 13 episodes, all because recap was unplanned, they had no time, so they pushed recap between the original episodes 7 and 8

Looks like all the pokemons are dead now... well Ai still has hers, but I doubt it will survive till the end.
Now that my theory about anything in this series is busted, I have to say, I'm glad it is. The villain Frill gives me huge Griffith x Zeke vibes. On one side she's a machine, but also an innocent child and a sociopathic murderer, like Griffith. She wants to be acknoweleged by her 'parents', like Zeke only wanted his parents' acknowelegement. I like her as a villain, she is innocent enough but also deadly as fuck.

Also that lip sound, I used to love to do this, but now I can finally force myself to stop.

Two episodes left (13th was confirmed). I can only wait and see what they bring us. I have full faith in the creators.

Gambare!

Probably one of the best episodes to date.

Heavy backstory and damn Frill just went totally crazy on them. I feel bad for the wife and the kid who ended up dying because of her.

Honestly, I have no clue how they are going to end this next episode. There has to be another season or something. It's not going to feel right to just end it out of nowhere next episode after all the reveals we had in this one. Maybe I forgot but what's the lore behind the existence of the other world?

So dark episode, but so perfect.
Was a incredible backstory telling to a single episode.

I'm relived that the Accas aren't evil, but bad decisions were made. Like the" Being uncontrollable part", and neglecting Frill.

And now sounds so normal, the part of transferring the conscience to another body. And making very good functional bodies.

I don't get why they would just introduce this villain at the last minute when we only have 1 episode left. This can't actually be the end right? If there's a second season planned then I will be willing to give this a chance since that will give time for everything to be fleshed out more, but if next week's episode is truly the end I will be so fucking disappointed.

Exactly, thats how i felt too... like noooooo, you dont add an extra evil one when there is only 2 episodes left, what you do is SHOW THE TRUE COLORS of the cast you alreasy have shown, how can i care for an evil AI at this point ? I dont believe it , why if they were so neglective to their daugher (the ai) then later they will care for other girls they dont know ??? To discover why her real daugher kill herself ??? Nah, make no sense

And these are the very same people that said " girls kill themselves out of emotions and men out of unachivements " ... like excuse me, either they are lying or the shows creators are very sexits and out of touch with reality. I still want to believe they are sus !

Episode 8 really does seem to have been the turning point for this show. I'm a bit bummed, but I'll stick it out on the off chance they pull through. The characters are so well realized and the setting is so imaginative, it's a shame the story has been so poorly paced. We never got any proper foreshadowing for what was "really" going on, and every episode we *do* get an answer that poses at two more questions in trade. Remember when this show was focused on whether or not Sawaki-sensei was a predator, and one of the main themes of the show seemed to be exploring the various ways adults exploit children?

I thought this episode was neat, as in the Acca's have an interesting story of their own. But it feels like it's from a different show entirely to me. In all honesty, the premise for just this episode could've made for a decent series on its own.

I can only speak for myself, but the show's pacing and how little time there is left makes it seem like if it does come up again, it'll be rushed. The show's felt really rushed for a bit now, with plot elements thrown in hastily at the end of episodes or dropped in as exposition that feels rather forced. So maybe it's not so much that I don't expect it to be resolved at all, but I'm doubtful it'll be resolved very well.

Frill went full Lain by the end?

Part of me thinks that the whole "temptation of death" and Frill directly or indirectly causing these suicides is a matter of wishful thinking and hope on the part of the Accas. A way to simplify it to the point where if you stop Frill, then suicides stop, or at least go way down. Frill seems like she purposefully engages Urra-Acca for attention near the end.

But on the other hand, I wonder how Dot and Hyphen get into the egg dreams. Surely it must be Frill, but then there is the question of why they only show up after the "mission is cleared"? What is Frill's interest? Or is she just a psychotic AI?

I think this episode was absolutely brutal, and on its own, very strong. My one real worry is that there is so much left to cover, and so much that probably won't get any exploration (i.e. Rika's reaction to Dot), and clearly not a lot of time left in the series.
WOW, this inference is much is true, and I can definitely see all the parallels of Frill being the psychotic trauma machine of a being that's just like Lain.

Exactly, the episode itself is not the issue, as you mention is a good premise if you have time to developt it , thats why i also agree i hope they know how to end this in 2 episodes or if there is going tl be a season 2

Yes, i do remember how the show seems to be focus on how adults groom or abuse kids into their main topic ... was easy to understand why an abused girl kill herself , or how a girl who identified as boy got raped and had a baby decide WAS TO MUCH FOR HIm to keep going, but now this "is was an AI revenge plan makes this situation dont match for the tone of the show ... how to put it, is like before was serious topic with some magical undertones and now is scifi with an evil culprit.

maybe im just wrong and they will wrap they show nicely, but for me is like a weird turn point. Like i said, is still dont believe ura acca and acca , they are sus i dont trust their words.

My favorite episode so far, made up for that recap.
This entire episode I just felt the eerie creepiness from this heavily sci-fi based episode, and this background story was truly directed and executed well. As I truly felt tense and engaged as a result the whole episode. Felt strong genuine horror vibes and I loved it. Tho I am confused about the purpose of the wonder eggs and what Ai role in all this means, what are the Accas trying to solve exactly?

Hm, not fully sure how to think of this one. I feel like Rika didn't get the screentime she deserved and compared to Momoe's part, it didn't really feel as impactful but I guess they didn't want to feel repetitive or they wanted to save time. Not a big fan of this antagonist to be completely honest and she's set up to the final one so oh well.

The backstory was decent imo and it was quite nice seeing the two "mystery characters" get fleshed out and explained as well as the reason why the whole thing came to be in the first place. The character deaths in the flashback felt really sudden and somewhat anticlimactic but I think that's what they were aiming for with the way they did everything. Use of color and soundtracks was great this episode and it really helped elevate scenes. I really hope Ai ends up being ok at the end since that sound effect at the end definitely wasn't a good sign.

My main concern regarding this episode would be that it's the second last one and this doesn't feel like the type of episode that would lead into a concluding one. The conclusion could easily be a very hit or miss one for me but I'm hoping it's gonna be good since I've enjoyed wep overall and I wanna end it on a good note. Still a bit mad about the rika thing since I feel like she deserved a more fitting ending but it's fine. I hope next week's episode will be good or at decent and won't end up disappointing many.

There are two shows here basically, and they are very much at odd with each other. I'd say the second show (the sci-fi one) is the worse one and it's basically eating away the first one.

WTF

This anime is destroyed.

So, the suicide is not a social issue anymore, but all an evil deed of a cyber AI Yandere?

Man, and the original premisse of this anime was not anything like "Japan is suffering a misterious wave of suicides". No, it was perfect to a metaphor of a psychological show.

Now it become supernatural sci-fi. From a upgraded Madoka, WEP turned into a Serial Experiments Lain out of place.

RIP.

So dark and screwed up, lol.
Things are being explained, that's cool, but there's some left.

Ep 12 will be great, for sure
