Hmm a time paradox variation..

Looks like everyone got out of their mess. I mean, it would feel wrong if they didn't. Still, after reflecting all the memories and people they've met, it's pretty obvious that time travel was an unforgettable experience. Idk how about how to feel for the show overall, had its good and bad moments.

I see, so Mikage got stuck back with Edison. Too bad his insanely hot secretary didn't join him, but he seemed happy enough. XD Adorable ending with Waka being saved by and kissing Futa, plus Mari's parents reuniting and picking up little sis. For a show that was a very late addition to my summer anime watching I enjoyed this immensely. I'm not big on magnets and other science stuff, but the historical aspect was right in my wheelhouse. And it balanced the educational yet entertaining line very well. Add to that the very likeable cast and you have a surprisingly solid series, the biggest surprise of the season, and an overlooked little gem. 8/10

Surprisingly good series. Cute, fun, and even educational. (Though that last point varied from time to time; it was great when it came the ending segments though)

8/10

On a side note, I don't know why Funimation bothered picking this up, but to be honest I'm glad they're doing so. Giving light to shows that would otherwise have shit-tier fansubs is very nice indeed.

Loved this anime! Not only was it fun, but it was educational.

Reminded me why I enjoyed Science Class so much in school!

Overall 8/10!
So glad that I'm not a huge manga reader, because the manga readers WHINE WAY TOO MUCH and have to RUIN every adapted anime for the ANIME ONLY WATCHERS!

Mari had a gold Armillary Compass. Grandma's was silver so most likely she is Shun's descendant.

And I dunno about Mikage's fate. I think it would've been for the benefit of history that he should've gotten sucked into the Paradox instead of being stuck in the past and become a paradox. I mean, the guy has the power to alter the whole world over there.

The ending was rather standard, summing everything up and jumping into the far future. They explained the book's origins at the very last minute. Can't say I wasn't surprised that it was a future device.

Other than that it was alright. Was a fun anime overall.

This show was surprisingly cute and enjoyable! I didn't expect to learn a lot at first, but once I got a feel for the show I actually learned a lot. While it's not perfect, it's definitely not bad either. Time travel is always an interesting concept that you don't see very often in anime so I'm glad one was made!

It's a shame that this anime will probably go unnoticed by many. This anime has a nice charm to it that I really like. 8/10.

That flashback about the joy of invention, it's just damn right.
Waka's kissing Futa at that very moment, and Rika saw the family finally coming to pick her up. What multi-"perfect" timing for this final episode. >_<

I don't have much else to say now, this last episode was rather unscientific, But that's fine.
Ps: Edison was a MUCH bigger douche than the anime made him out to be; not a good guy to glorify.

It's a shame that J.C. Maxwell, C.P Steinmetz, Oliver Heaviside, and Nikola Tesla went unmentioned. Especially seeing as Tesla was such a king of patents that far exceeded his time. Though i guess Tesla's story wouldn't be one much of perseverance, he was kinda born with it all, and then shut out for opposing profitable technologies. Then we have modern day Eric Dollard and Ken Wheeler, possibly soon to be myself. If that seems silly or unlikely for such a person to be doing something as mundane as blab on an anime forum or uploading videos about cameras, well, you'll have to talk to me and find out what i'm really working on - that is finally cohesive solutions to convoluted models, the unified field theory itself (that is fields as fields, which are metaphysical and collectively define space and matter and magnitudes and time). Most of the significant scientists of the past lead pretty mundane lives outside of their projects, which often were just vision-motivated hobby projects or business opportunities. A lot of the british guys, such as in Newton's time, hung out in coffee shops like everybody else.

Fact is, the information in this is along the lines of pre-introductory level in electrical engineering. They focused on the toys that deceive the eye and ear, but didn't spent hardly any time on the actual explanations, merely the descriptions of effects. There is so much to be learned about metaphysics, and concepts such as cause-effect indistinction due to self-similarity (real relativity, before Einstein).

---
Science is fun, fascinating, and above all else, cool. Any idiots, such as the twits of academia (colleges/universities), who make it out to be mathematical chalk-waving, desk-sitting, peer-debating, circle-jerking yawn fest, are not doing pure science. Real science is getting your hands dirty. Doing stuff like this guy:
https://www.youtube.com/user/Mr2Tuff2/videos
Fiddling with stuff, and recreating natural formations through experimentation. Then it's the wise people who can construct adequate explanations through retroduction and using only denotation with no corner cutting or gap-filling with hypothetical entities created by those mathemagicians, such as virtual particles.

On the internet, it's always prudent to avoid the torus fanatics and free-energy cultists when investigating electricity and magnetism. Even groups like the Thunderbolts Project won't be able to accomplish anything until they understand core principles, such as how magnetic fields MUST form with golden ratio geometry (this is where you learn something incredible about the universe by investigating the ferrocell).
---

The world is changing, relativity is losing traction, quantum is transitioning from particle theory to field theory, and electricity is gaining acknowledgement again, very fast (as even the highest funded 'scientists' are talking about electrochemistry, and electrical interactions of bodies in space, and mega-currents in Van Allen belts and inter-planetary Birkeland currents etc. Get on board and enjoy it or get caught in the wave when it comes.

I don't mean to drone on, but you gotta dress thick when you're the one facing the winds by taking point. Science is fun, and anyone can do it, you don't need to be particularly gifted, just have vision and an ability to grasp the mechanics of physical systems as you play with them. The stuff isn't hard to learn, and math is not as necessary as it's made out to be.

My drive is to build a unified field theory in a context that both based on fact and is easy to understand, then deliver it within an epic story that can suck people in, and casually show them better interpretations of it all. Why write scientific papers only to be criticized by people who don't even try to fully understand the work, when you can fuse it into a piece of fiction and deliver it to the people and light their fires to get them realizing that they can understand, and they can experiment with these things. Just as people do with star wars and so on, except using real factual entities and explanations that follow suit in practicality, rather than misleading people away from a controlled plasma field (what a light sabre actually is when explaining it's behaviour) and to a "light sabre" (you can't use light like a physical entity so that description is void); it is amusing that the thing is actually possible to make in such a stroke of inspirational luck. Cases like Interstellar and The Martian are unfortunate instances of depicting outdated and obsolete theory. The future is in dielectric-based field theory (incommensurability).

Alright I can't, that engrish at the end...
Well it makes sense and is following the story (it would've been a plothole if Edison was still speaking japanese) since it was the compass that was translating their speech and now it's gone but still I just can't take it XD

Overall this was a unique little gem of the season, it was nothing great or amazing but it was a fun little show that also tried to be educational.

It gets a 7/10 from me.

So the reason behind the storm was that one compass was present there twice. There were only two compasses and the one which Waka found was the one Eiji had. And since that shouldn't be possible, the storm had to engulf at least one of those compasses to bring things back to normal. But the two compasses end up getting fused together and Eiji and Mari make it back. In the end, it is discovered that a Japanese businessman was partly responsible for almost all of Edison's successes. I liked how they ended the episode with showing Shun still determined to do all that time travel research despite knowing that all this shit is going to happen. And they also show old Mari telling her granddaughter about stuff and then we see the book get replaced by an apple which marks the start of the adventures of Mari through time.

This was a pretty okay show. It disappointed me when it shifted focus from the scientists and the troubles they face when performing all those experiments for their discoveries/inventions. Those parts were really good. When they shifted to the shit with Mikage, I started losing interest in the show. There were times when I was like "why am I watching this?" It's good parts were where the focus was the scientist and its boring parts were where the ficus was on Mikage and friends.

At times I felt there was so much potential to this show. It was absorbing at points. But sadly the focus and execution is rather scattered.

I liked the mystery aspect with Eji, the representation of the famous scientists and the worldly outlook on science throughout the ages. What I didn't like was Mari's absolute lameness and the pointless little love story between her friend & the soccer boy.

This was easily the surprise series of the season for me(and one of the biggest surprises of the year as well), very unnoticed, underrated and surprisingly good, I had a lot of fun watching this, the ending was perfect and I also learned some physics and history as well. Mari and Waka were 2 cuties, the directing was great, the voice acting was great, the animation was consistent, the OST had some nice tracks here and there, seeing the settings from different time periods was great, the finale had some nice mystery to it and seeing Mari as an old researcher and her granddaughter was gold. Also, all of the mini science sections at the ending of each episode were really cool and informative and all the inventors that appeared throughout the show were cool as well.

It's a shame almost no one watched this, as of 9/26/2016 only 8,271 people have this on their lists and out of those people only 1,555 completed the show, quite sad, tbh.

Shit story overall. I can't even like the present characters. In the final moments, Shun was adamant to stay on to bring back Eiji despite the fire, yet when he and Mari returned, nobody gave a shit about Mikage and insisted there's nothing can be done anymore and wiped their hands clean and ran out. Wow. Did they even think about the historical havoc Mikage could have caused as revenge if he stayed on? No, cos they only think about themselves.

Waka and Fuuta romance was pointless. Waka, Mari, Shun, and Akira were roped in by Mikage and gang so obediently without any use of weapon. Like, why should they even listen? Just leave. Geez.

No, Mari, don't tell him how to get back to the future! Few seconds later, Mari went telling Mikage how. *rolleyes*

It overglorified Edison too. Where tf is Tesla???

The only good part of the series is that it illustrated the life struggles of the scientists behind their glorified portraits in textbooks.

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU MESS WITH TIME. It always leads to something bad in the end.

This anime is special. It was far better than I imagined it would be, and boy was that a satisfying conclusion... for this anime. It didn't look like it would be nearly as enjoyable as it turned out to be, in fact, it looked and sounded pretty lame, so I came into this with very low expectations. Was quite a surprise. Of course, it still wasn't all that. It was educational, and I'm probably way to old to be watching this anyway. 6/10

I think she's Mari. She wouldn't tell her descendants about her stories. Maybe she kept the gold one as keepsake.
Mikage is assisting Edison for bussiness things. He's shown in the Edison's photo.

Actually the two compasses didn't get fused together, that scene was confusing.
You can see that Mikage's compass(was Eiji's) flying away and Eiji's tightly grabbing his compass(was Mikage's) in that scene.

Shun need to make the time machine, that's why he need to continue.

I agree the scientists stories were good but I think the main story was not bad.

Agreed. I'm glad I watched this. The information is even better and detailed than what I learned from school. Many things also got animated, this made me interested in science. Mini science part is also great, it taught me what my school didn't. The last toaster part is funny too, I didn't know toaster in the past was like that and I didn't even know that Faraday couldn't do math.

I think government should've funded this, this is a good educational anime. Though I don't know if kids nowadays are interested in this kind of thing or not.

Woah wait, what was this ending. The english in this episode was awkward af lol, but I want to raise the score from 6 to 7 just cause of this. Yes Mikage was there in the photo with Thomas Edison BUT IT'S ACTUALLY SO SAD IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT. He died in the past, without anyone knowing it. Bruhh, this thing is so deep. And also why do we have to see Mari old, it's unsettling. And what happened to the present father. And where was Waka in that ending.
Still I want to give this a 7/10 will see if it changes to a 6 in the near future.
I have to think that it's a show for kids basically. How they meet the scientists in the past and all that.

Ah time paradox, at least Mari and her father could escape but now the villain has been stuck in the past and had to live the rest of his life with Edison, at least now everything has been fixed (Waka being saved and kissing the other boy lol), I liked the bit of future segment we had with grandma Mari and it explained finally where the book came from.

@Yamada2 The show’s twist with the duplicate compasses and the way it ties back to Eiji and Mari’s return is intriguing, especially as it connects time travel and historical figures like Edison. The ending with Mari’s granddaughter and the apple, hinting at more adventures through time, adds a nice layer.

The early focus on the scientists and their challenges during experiments really added depth and made the story compelling. When the plot shifted to Mikage and friends, though, it felt like it lost some of that initial pull.

In my travels, especially during my recent Kauai, Hawaii journey, I found a connection with the show’s exploration of discovery and adventure. In Kauai, where I got to see beautiful birds and take in the island’s unique atmosphere (https://hawaiiislandkauai.com/), I was reminded of how exploration whether in science or travel opens up new perspectives. Perhaps if the series had kept its focus on scientific discovery, it might have held that same sense of adventure all the way through.
