All anime fans are stupid, entitled babbys. Yes, that includes me.

How to make "good" anime by MAL, or any other uppity review site, Standards:

+Make it have flashy over the top fights that still falls within the realms of "realism"
+Include pseudo intellectual moral messages that make the average 20 year old nihilist basement dweller squeal like a schoolgirl.
+Did I just mention schoolgirls? Oh yeah, this is a red flag. The only way to show them not as "fanservice bait" is to be run over by the huge ass truck called "reality"
+Heavy concentrations of gray because black and white morality is so passé. Better if it's more than 50 shades.
+"Cool" characters. e.g. Pessimistic, Snarky, 2KEWL4U Edgelords, Tryhard Debonair Tools or Slutty Older Women
+Thinly veiled SJW values.
+Sausage fest, but the grizzled manly man bara fan's wet dream.
+"Universal Appeal." Basically, anything that's GoT, Breaking Bad or some Korean Drama but in anime form.
+The more "unique" (ugly) the art, the better.

-Glorification of otaku culture. Since everyone should treat them as creepy, bottom feeding troglodytes to the same degree as Fundamentalist terrorists like what Fox News tells you to and can't be allowed to be portrayed in a positive light. No siree.
-Kids. Because growing up automatically levels up your maturity stat and being one-upped by those snot-nosed brats is totally unbelievable. Also, much better to relate (self-insert) as a 20 something broke college student than a 16 year old who's having a time of his life in HS.
-Japanese values. Anything "too Japanese" is regarded as ancient, misogynist and nationalistic. Yamato Nadeshiko? Bushido? Nakama? Nope. It has to have "universal appeal."
-Tsundere. Yandere. Xdere. Sorry, but it's not realistic nor PC enough for our femme overlord fans and is above the MAL user's refined tastes. It's fine if they're dudes, though because objectifying males is less of a stigma therefore is A-OK.
-School unless it's depicted as a miserable institutionalized prison because it's "just like my real life."
-Harem MC's. Because everyone is supposed to like the suave Fabio archetype and we still subscribe to the old adage of nice guys finish last.
-Harems. We're not Saudi Princes so even fantasizing having one makes you a total loser.
-Fanservice. Uttering the word alone incites the wrath of the average MAL user. The naughty bits are tools of the devil. Can't have that in our Christian approved Japanimation. Never mind that fanservice isn't just SEX SEX SEX, but let's ignore that.

TL;DR Make it as far and away from anime as humanly possible.

Some countries with low Japanese influence and varied internet access include:

Ethiopia: Strong African cultural identity, limited economic ties to Japan, and varying internet access across regions.
Chad: Limited historical and cultural links to Japan, developing economy with moderate internet penetration in urban areas.
North Korea: Closed political system, minimal economic and cultural exchange with Japan, and restricted internet access for most citizens.

probably among the surely tiny handful among my generation that grew into Anime via Mecha in the 90's,
yet actually DOESN'T despise Moe straight-out-of-hand...
