Can't really blame Teru for being fascinated by the local landscape and culture. He just wants to capture some of those memories.

Hina still feels like the comic relief character while the show retains its energetic vibes. Their school also looks much more lively than other anime schools this Winter season. Overall, energy vibes in this episode is all over the place. 5 combo!

Seems like Kana has backup now, hopefully things will work out for her.
She is just to shy and the main should pay more attention towards her.
The festival seemed like fun.

Teeruu gonna confess his love toward Kyan?!
naahhh, this should be the true/good end of this series.

Actually, Okinawa has a railway, but it isn't in the form of a conventional railway like the ones in Tokyo or the mainland. It's a monorail line in Naha.
A pair of Shisa were placed on the roof or the house's fence because of their belief in protecting from evil.

That's taco rice and Pork tamago onigiri. Both of them are kinda fusion menu. The taco rice is basically eating a taco with rice instead of a tortilla. And, the pork tamago onigiri is an onigiri with spam meat. Yes!, the spam meat. The American military bases on the island influenced both of the menus and became part of Okinawa cuisine since then.

Wtf was that animation during the eisaa dance lol. Was def cool to learn about that, the chondara and getting a taste of an Okinawan festival! It’s cool how similar it is to mainland Japan, but also how different it is. There’s a little bit of Pacific Islander vibe going on as well as SEAN flair. This shows doing a good job working as a tourism promo and definitely got me wanting to learn more about the Ryukyu islands

That Kana vision with she and Teeru having a kid should be the good ending of this series lmao. Just can not get with Kyan at all. Surely he’s not going to confess there with that cliffhanger tho, right???

Damm that sure was a lot of shiisa photos. The lore about them though was pretty interesting. The auto dance routine was amusing. Higa was having quite the wild imagination there though. Loved the RPG interface they used for the parlor. Higa's crush finally gets detected lol. The festival was quite the spectacle. Damm Hina's role at the festival sure was a busy one. Floor master was a pretty apt term for her role.

Just a couple of quick things. First, it’s absolutely wonderful learning about and getting to watch this beautiful culture that is Okinawa. What a beautiful and mysterious place. I’m truly loving this series. I do however wish the rating on here was a little higher but I’ll chalk that up to the regular wimpy mmc lol.

The best way to describe this show is imagine you’re a kid who’s just moved to a foreign country where you don’t know the language or the culture and the new people in your orbit know this but don’t bother to help you understand, instead they look at you like you’re an alien.

I’m not a fan of Kyan’s character; she obviously speaks standard Japanese and knows that Teru doesn’t speak Okinawan dialect but expects him to be the one to make the effort to communicate with her. That’s the sign of a bad friend Teru

I feel bad for everyone invested in the love triangle as I am almost 100% certain that it is the b-plot/macguffin for this series. I think the actual purpose of this anime is just to teach people about Ryokan/Okinawan culture.

Another great episode!
Laughed at them all starting to dance randomly in the middle of the classroom, found adorable the little bits where they imagine having a family with their crush, and of course a great cliffhanger to end on!
Oh, and Kana got busted haha, let's see if it plays a role later.

Damn, that is one kinetic OP. Like it.

"Some random old guy taught it to me at a festival."
Red flag.

"I don't know what she's saying but she's cute."
Restated title drop.

Kaanaa flummoxed by other kids doing her shtick.

Confession-hanger, bah. Almost for sure to abort or fail.

Like the travelogue bits better this episode.

Hina showing herself better this episode. Kaanaa's feelings observed and she recruited a wing-gal. Competition going to heat up now.

Imagine visiting Okinawa, and suddenly you start singing "Toushin Dooi," and everyone joins in for a musical montage! Learning about new cultures is always entertaining and interesting.

It's great that Yae realized Kana is in love with Teru, giving her some support. But seriously, this is one of those rare times when I want someone to interrupt the protagonists' confession or romantic moments. Hopefully, Teru won't confess his feelings to Hina. This story should end like Kana's imagination, with her and Teru together with children.

@Mari_Marx Can't agree there. I've knows a couple of people (male/female) who were just as dense or couldn't care less about romance (at that age). Hina's the type of girl who probably hasn't thought much about that stuff much, so it's easy for her to totally miss the fact someone's hitting on her. Nakamura's gonna get friendzoned hard because Hina sees him (or anyone else) as just friends.

While Kanna is definitely a cute girl that can melt your heart, the romance aspect of the anime is starting to lose its spark, mainly since the male MC is just a forgettable guy.

Theres nothing wrong with the male MC and hes not bland nor annoying, but hes just forgettable that you end up not caring about him and his situation, and because of it, its easy to not to care about him in an anime that has some romance in it.

Like, I wouldnt feel bad for Kanna if she doesnt get the male MC in the end, since again, hes just a forgettable guy.

And im still not too happy with the way Kanna fell in love with the male MC, simply because he went to get her hat.

Nice overall episode though

Lots of dancing in this episode, the first one in the school was like another Okinawan zombie apocalypse like before, only everyone is dancing this time, even Higa as she explained why they were dancing lol, the song I wasn’t big on but the dance looked fun. And then later was the festival bit with the Eisaa dance, CGI looked a bit wonky but besides that it looks really fun, Kyan being a coordinator of sorts was also a cool detail, wouldn’t have expected that from the costume she had on lol, and I can’t forget to mention Higa who was looking great in that festival outfit.

It’s just unfortunate for us Higa fans (which I imagine is most of us lol) that Teruaki looked like he was about to confess to Kyan, I get his fixation on her due to how they first met but man you can’t show us that fantasy of Higa being with Teruaki and having kids and expect everything to be fine, it’s like they’re dangling keys in front of us lol. But we did get one great Higa bit in this one with the translator moment, that red haired friend of her’s being a wingtroll was great lol, I hope we get more of that going forward since she knows now, also that food they had looked great, I want to try taco rice now!

And we got the same ED again this week, so I guess we aren’t getting a new one every week, this kinda makes me wish the first one rolls around again because it’s my favorite so far, but I guess we’ll see about that.

No hate to Kyan fans but I don't just find her intriguing tbh. Kana has stuck out to me WAYYYYY MOREEEEE since the beginning of this anime. She's cute, sticks out more, and genuinely reaches out to my heart as a true heroine for a romcom anime. As for Kyan-san, she's like a hyperactive like little sister with Nagatoro's personality. Kana deserves this win hands down.

And as for Teeruu, I said it before but I don't just like him since he is so meh. Personality and look wise, he feels average to me. He doesn't stick out to me especially since someone as cute as Kana is crushing on him and doesn't seem to notice (not that I can blame him) but he needs to observe more and look past Kyan-san.

No comment on the love story. I focus more on the cultural aspect.

There are some strange or even cringey stereotype out there but in the end it makes me want to travel to Okinawa. Particularly because people seem to be friendly and outgoing, according to this anime.

I enjoy the cute little memo sections to explain things, but I did laugh when Teruaki broke into one of them while in shock. XD

There was plenty of dancing in this episode, first to the folk song which had the students dancing away automatically and then the Eisaa dance at the festival later on. All of it was fun and educational.

As for the romance, looks like one of Kana's friends has now picked up on Kana having a crush on Teruaki and didn't waste time in teasing her about it. However, it looks like there was more progress between Teruaki and Hina, which led to the scene with the two of them at the festival, talking away. It was a shame that the episode had to end when Teruaki made up his mind to say what he wanted to say to her, whether it's an actual confession or not.

Looks like we'll have to find out next time to see what his actual response to her will be.

I started this one after seeing a few clips and thought it would be a chill romcom and so far that's basically the case.

The case of a mainland visitor coming to a remote part of the country and not only getting in touch with the local culture but also not being racist about it is quite the wholesome. Of course, while the show isn't going for the dialect and customs it sets its spotlight on the romance aspect, one that definitely forms not only part of the title but of the main interactions between the 3 main characters. I like the 3 of them for different reasons and with that last scene from this episode I predict that either Teru doesn't confess and they go on with the usual dynamic, or he does and she laughs it off or say something about traditions and what not. Kana by the end of the season might be able to pull up courage and have a scene with Teru like with other romcoms similar to this one but who knows.

Overall, a fine enough start for the duolingo folk romcom.

I don't really like this anime, it's nice and all, but is also really boring to watch.

I don't really care for any of the characters, Hina is the standout of course, but the fact she can speak proper japanese yet decides to use her okinawan dialect most of the time when talking to Teruu is really fkng selfish and that sucks.

In terms of plot and comedy, it feels like a SoL for babies lol
I do like that they try to teach people about okinawan culture, for example I liked a lot their explanation on why the Shisa on the right has the mouth open while the one on the left has it closed, I feel I will not be forgetting that anytime soon, and that's wonderful, I love when they explain stuff like that in a good way, but they also over exaggerate a lot of stuff...

I'm not from Okinawa, I've never been there, probably never will (sadly), and I don't know anyone from there, so I have 0 rights to talk about their culture, and I don't want to sound disrespectful or anything, but stuff like that thing about EVERYONE starting to dance when they listen to that music, you can't tell me that isn't over exaggeration, I understand that some people may do it becuase, idk really, but EVERYONE? Like, they put that music through the school speakers and EVERYONE IN THE SCHOOL BEGAN TO DANCE, nah bro, I'm not believing that, and of course someone can say "it's obviously an over exageration, but they made it that way to make it fun for the viewer" and that's fine, but it only maes me lean even more on my opinion that this is an SoL for babies becuase that wasn't fun, it was honestly kinda "cringe", like, imagine that was real, I would hate it.

Even with all that, I still liked this episode way more than eps 1 and 2, Teruu really is in love with Hina, I want them to end together, and I don't like Kana at all, she is literally just an NPC translator with a blushing face, she has 0 personality at all and doesn't do anything to change, even if she is in love with Teruu, if the boy loves the other girl then get out, Hina at the very least is someone that actually does stuff and doesn't feel like a background character misplaced in the role of main.

They played a really hard card at the end of the episode, a card that I like a lot, so I hope they do something with it on the next episode, but I honestly doubt Teruu has the balls to really confess to Hina, it's way too soon, and if she accepts that would totally kill the Kana subplot, I don't see this story getting way more romantic that what it is currently.
But I swear, if in the next episode we don't see the conclussion to the confession, or they take it as a joke, or they simply ignore it, act like it never happened, I swear I'm dropping this anime.

(damn, I talked a lot for no real reason lol)
Sorry if my english is bad (っ˘▽˘)っ~~~
Btw, cry about it.
