My favourite romance anime is Clannad, Toradora, Gokinjo Monogatari, and Fruits Basket, but I like to watch a lot of old and unique romance anime, such as EF a Tales of 2, Kanon, Kodomo no Omocha, Versailles no Bara, My Little Monster, (You can check my list in MAL).

Especially the series Neon Genesis Evangelion and the movie The End of Evangelion.
If you like action, a bit psychological and some damn good animation then I recommend the four Evangelion rebuild movies.
If you really study the story, you will find that you don't understand anything. haha
