Nao is kind of making Yoshino look like a side character in these latest episodes. I mean, Yoshino still has a lot of on screen time but feels outclassed by her in presence. Got more storytelling about Tsubaki's past too.

Yoshino and Kirishima still has chemistry together and got to spend some alone time together. Curious on how long Nao will stick around but she's easily becoming one of the more interesting characters in this anime imo.

Edit: Nao

Tears, Kirishima an actual scumbag. How you gonna go to Osaka with Yoshino and link up with/fuck your ex 😭one thing I’ll give this author is she really does make some realistic and interesting characters because you don’t see this level of fuckboyness in anime often . Like it’s def dudes like that in real life, but you don’t often get that sort of flawed individual in this medium so it makes things very refreshing.

We knew Nao was hiding a dark side from her friends, but I didn’t think she’d just go back with Kirishima like that. I wonder if Yoshino is gonna find out about this and if so what she does next. She seemed a little more open with and warm towards Kirishima today like being considerate of being too close to Shoma when walking lol. I’m excited for what comes next for sure.

And of course, as usual Yoshino is so freaking pretty man I say it every week but it’s unreal

Summer vacation is here, and Yoshino returns to Osaka with Kirishima in tow. Plenty of opportunities for more slapfights between Pretty Boys 1 and 2. Also new to the picture is Nao, some rando who I initially confused for Tsubaki, and apparently one of Kirishima's exes. She's even more fake than Kirishima!

Ok, this episode had a lot to digest.

First, we get the introduction of 2 new characters: Ozu and Nao. Not really sure if Ozu is going to be an important character (he seemed like the guy that appears at the opening, but he isn's), but Nao certainly is going to be.
Nao seems like a really sly woman, that clearly puts up a fake persona to get what she wants. But it seems like she has a big backstory that we don't know about, especially with Ozu (which they emphasized a lot this episode, but we never got to know why they finished their relationship, because she was lying when she was talking to her "friends") and Kirishima.
Some way or another, Nao is related to what happened to Kirishima back in middle school, the thing they mentioned in episode 2, that made him join the Yakuza (and attack some people in a really agressive way). I feel like their relationship is really trobuled, but it does seem like they had more of a "sexual" relationship than anything else, since they only met to have sex apparentaly. Now here comes a problem than this anime shouldn't even have, and that is the fact that they showed us a 17 year Kirishima and (I suppose) 17/18 year old Nao doing the deed, but the thing is, they said they met 3 years before, so at least Kirishima was 14 when they had their "dates". Like, Kirishima wouldn't look like that at 14, I'm sorry. Also, 14 is like, really young, and it just feels unnecessary for him to be this young, because him being 17 now doesn't change the story a lot, so why didn't they make the protagonists older? Like, if he was 20 now, he would have been 17 now, and I feel like that would make more sense for the story too. Anyways, it's not like this doesn't happen in our reality, but Kirishima would certainly not look like that as a 14 year old.

Moving on, Yoshino and Kirishima get to spend the summer break at Osaka, Yoshino's home, and yess, Shouma is back. Honestly, the banana shirt was iconic. While there, Kirishima seems a bit aloof most of the times. Not sure what's that about.

The episode ends with the reveal that Kirishima and Nao have met again, and had sex once again (it was to be expected the moment he gave her that card with his number). Now, Nao wanted to meed with Kirishima, because she might be afraid of Ozu doing something to her, and probably wants Kirishima to be kind of a boyfriend to her. Not sure if Kirishima is up for that though...
I saw many people really surprised or completely furious with Kirishima, because he slept with another girl, but like, it's not like he didn't do that before in episode 3. Yeah, sure, I understand that now he and Yoshino are closer, but it's not like they are in a relationship either. And more importantly, I think people are not understanding Kirishima's character that much. It's clear that sex isn't something intimal or romantic to him. Like, he doesn't even know what he's feeling for Yoshino, since we clearly saw this episode that he compared his relationship with Yoshino as with a friendship with a male friend, when it clearly isn't. Kirishima has definetly trouble labeling what he's feeling and knowing "normal" relationships, so it doesn't surprise me that this attitude that he had is not seen by him as cheating (since he doesn't have anything official with Yoshino), even if he's totally in love with her. Also, it's not like he grew up with the Yakuza, and knowing he doesn't have any friends, he probably doesn't even know better either (Yoshino's grandfather had a daughter with a mistress, so...).
Above all, this episode showed us that Kirishima is a really lonely guy, and whatever happened in middle school shaped him into the closed person he is. He doesn't trust anyone and he doesn't like anyone besides Yoshino (that was made clear last episode), although this Nao girl might be a bit more important than other people for him (maybe it was his first "girlfriend"). The fact that he wanted that wool thing that Yoshino knitted in middle school, and the fact that his phone's lockscreen is a Yoshino picture shows his feelings for Yoshino are true to an extent, let's see how he's going to feel after what he did this episode. But it's clear that he doesn't really know what he is feeling either.

All this problems aside, we all know Shouma would be a better partner for Yoshino than Kirishima would ever be, but we all know the anime isn't taking that direction, so just let's accept that.

Now, was it only me, or the animation for this episode was BAD. This anime hasn't been particularly the top anime in terms of animation, but it was ok most of the time, but this episode, maybe because had a lot of moving around, but the animation was particularly bad, like the art style I kinda grew to like it, but this animation was making me dizzy sometimes, like, wow, it was bad. I hope this doesn't start to become a normal thing for the anime.
Also, I don't if they adapted more chapters this episode than in episode 4, but I felt that this episode was really rushed, they barely gave time for things between Kirishima and Shouma to heat up, or for some clean arrival to Osaka, they were just speeding through. Are they rushing this to end the cour in a really good arc, or are they just rushing it for the sake of it?

Being this episode 6, it means we are halfway through the anime I suppose, but the truth is that we still don't know how many episodes we are getting.

Edit: Also, it appears that Kirishima's ex girlfriend (at least one of them) actually toom his suggestion of "selling her body" and gave up on her dreams and started doing adult movies, before leaving Tokyo. I wonder if the story really is like that, and if that girl is Nao or some other important character.

Ahmm, that girl isn't Tsubaki though, it's Nao, I think they're different characters (even if they are really similar, their eyes are different, one has purple eyes with a dark line, and the other has blue eyes with a light square).

We’re finally headed into my favorite arc from the manga! Im really excited, so this episode was a lot of fun, even though it’s all set-up.

I love Yoshinos relationships with Shouma and Tsubaki. They feel so relaxed and genuine, and it’s great to see again how they care about her. They all know she’s in over her head with Kirishima, but they’re supporting her in dealing with him her own way. They’re not going to step in and save the day for her, or pressure her to act differently. And she trusts that they love, know, and respect her enough to be there when she needs them.
I can’t get enough of how everyone lets each other be themselves.

Also having fun with the little ways they continue to subvert romance cliches. Love when FL’s acknowledge that being in the middle of a love triangle is a pain in the ass.

On a negative note, I'm still not vibing with the stylized eyes.

That's Nao, not Tsubaki. Tsubaki only appeared in the first minutes at the start of the episode, she is Yoshino's cousin. Nao is a girl that went to the same elementary school as Kirishima and is his senpai, they had an affair 3 years ago (so Kirishima was 14-15 and she was 16-17, yuck) and they recently met again this episode.

Nao is not even "an old flame" to Kirishima, he never took Nao seriously. They were just friends with benefits kind of stuff.

I find it a bit amusing that Yoshino didn't expect Shoma. If the guy hears even a whisper of you coming home you know he's going to be there.

Looking forward to how this Bon festival is going to go though. Wonder if Shoma will get some more time with her now that she's back in town.

Awww someone to cause trouble for Female Redhead.

She is looking for a boyfriend to counter the business person.

And the Redhead is waking up to realizing she needs to keep better tabs on her prey.

I wonder what is going to happen betwen these to females, maybe a rival?

Well ... the story is entertaining none the less.
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

Just when this bastard was sort of growing on me, he goes and fucks that Nao girl while knowingly deceiving and using Yoshino just so he could do so🤢🤬. Me thinks you really don't like Yoshino as much as you think you do if you'd go to such lengths to meet a past fling (also found peak gross that they were apparently having a full-fledged, very active sex life when they were in middle school, like how🤮???). I also found it hilarious when he mentioned he wasn't Yakuza when she saw his very detailed back tattoo, and she just believed him; she is very dumb despite espousing that she's so much smarter than her friends.

Why is Nao's design too similar to Tsubaki's? When I saw screenshots of this episode, I though he was screwing around with Yoshino's cousin.

Anyway, there's too many prudes mot liking him for sleeping around. I don't particularly like him but I'll give him props for not being the typical anime protag loser.

I almost mistook Nao for Tsubaki for a moment—they look so similar, even in the design of their eyes. Nao gives me bad vibes; being a fake but cunning character, she’s bound to cause Yoshino some serious problems. I think, as Tsubaki and Shouma say, it’s time Yoshino tightens the reins on Kirishima.

On another note, I don't understand why some people are disappointed with Kirishima’s attitude. The guy’s unhinged, doesn’t care about anything, he's a Yakuza, and canonically good-looking—did people seriously think he wouldn’t be sexually active? He likes Yoshino because she stands out from the other women he knows, but she’s so indifferent to him that he doesn’t take commitment seriously at all. Plus, it’s obvious she's being used as a pawn for Yakuza stuff—were people expecting a nice guy here? Maybe his character development will lead to change, but right now, he doesn’t even care if Yoshino sleeps with someone else as long as he doesn’t find out. He clearly sees sex as something trivial or a means to an end. Besides, Yoshino isn't even in love with him.

The animation... in this whole episode was so ugly lol. The look of the new girl's eyes throughout the whole beginning intro to her was really odd. Then, the side view of Yoshino in the taxi with Kirishima was also really ugly lmao (super out of proportion). Can't get over how odd Shouma's eyes look too. Overall, lack of animation and then very weird art style to the characters.

Plot wise, love that Shouma's telling her to watch out for Kirishima. Kirishima still out her messing around with other girls fr too that's wild

The pacing felt a little odd, but otherwise, the content of the episode felt like filler, so it was nothing crazy.

However, the fact that Kirishima is still sleeping with other girls despite exclaiming that he has feelings for the FL is crazy. Makes you doubt his sincerity (if he had any in the first place) and, generally, his character as a whole.

After this episode I really do not want Yoshino to end up with Kirishima.. Like really, he goes to her hometown (after stalking another girl on Instagram) to fuck her all the while saying he loves Yoshino? Disgusting. I much rather she go for Shouma he is hot, caring and seems to actually love her. He also isn't a complete psychopath.. but sadly they tend to always put the two main characters together even if one or both are horrible for each other. 🤮

What's with all of the good looking characters have the worst eyes?

Shoma knows there's something off with Kirishima. Fuck Kirishima though. I really can't believe he ditched Yoshino like that and she's so fucking oblivious too. It pisses me off.

Also bullshit that she said she isn't going to ask about Kirishima if he doesn't bring it up himself. I absolutely hate people who think the same way. Not everyone has an easy time opening up. If you cared enough about someone just ask them shit bc they'll be more than happy to answer (this is coming from a person people who rarely gets asked things about themselves).

Kirishima will gladly tell anyone he has a girlfriend EXCEPT to Nao. That's fucking bullshit.

Oh shit, I didn't know Nao was older than Kirishima. Ugh, fuck both Nao and Kirishima. He literally told her he was there to see here and said he was going to be around for a while. Man, this is pissing me off.

Shoma is a better person, I just wish he would tell Yoshino he has feelings for her.

@KoSparrows sometimes I wonder if it’s the clash between the basic bright backgrounds and the dark stylized charters? I do think it looks better when you see them at night.
