They protrayed Ron in the personality and deeper stoic voice that I had expected. The show/episode deals with a case and Toto is obvious the inferior of the pair. He's also a bit of an airhead too.

Despite some of the dry humor, there's some eerie moments and Ron is such a mysterious person.

Surprisingly entertaining imo. Some of their character interactions were long but it builds a foundation in their relationship.

Well, it’s the good ol’ turn of events, I mean the kind we see in every detective fiction out there… a decent bunch of people failing to solve a case and then our main man will make an appearance, that “so-called” capable individual who would do it in a snap of fingers. And heck there’s someone who is here to make him look good too lol.

Kamonohashi Ron being his name, who despite having looks like a kpop artist, is uber brilliant with his deductions. I feel bad for Isshiki guy, who has to take such humiliations after humiliations just so he could convince mister oddball to take a look over this string of murders, whose police force has been beating their asses on for the last nine months or so. And guess what, the moment Ron and Isshiki arrived at the crime scene… a fresh crime scene, this man literally solved the case within minutes… the reason we know is because he’s ultra smart after all.

A random barber being the culprit for all the murders, and that too for a petty reason of making money out of those people wasn’t the conclusion I thought we’d get, but fine this was just the first episode. Decent start, though hope we do get some good cases going forward.

From famed mangaka Akira Amano of Katekyo Hitman Reborn! and Δ“lDLIVE comes her next series, and this is only the 1st Season in how many seasons the producers want to do this project.

The adventures of Investigation Division 1's unskilled police officer Totomaru Isshiki and eccentric private detective Ron Kamonohashi, their coincidental meeting that the former is supposed to find the latter for help in the murder case. Ron may be an outcast who has voluntarily cut himself away from the outside world with their chief Kiku sending him various partners every now and then, but his deductions are spot accurate. And no matter how Isshiki forces Ron to help him, the latter forcing the call on the case having a 6th victim, Ron wants to get back into sleuthing very badly, but because of his fatal flaw that no medicine could fix, what truly is going on with this intelligent detective? And Ron obliges, though Isshiki must keep a close eye on him.

So then, Ron and Isshiki get into the murder case, and he's able to deduce for the 6th victim's killing MO, which thanks to the dead victim, Ron knows what he's going to do: arrest the culprit that the case was left open for 9 months...with cash that's fit enough for expensive tack and a total makeover, like a haircut. But little does Isshiki know that he's thrown into the culprit's lair of a barber, with oxygen-deficient air from the shampoo station, which Ron managed to gather all the evidence that points only in one direction, and having Isshiki play the part of the victim to corner him. But Ron asking the culprit to jump from the rooftop which puts him on a trance, luckily Isshiki was able to save the culprit, but with an extra thanks to Ron.

The fatal flaw of Ron Kamonohashi: a perfect solving streak with a 0% arrest streak, Isshiki's the pure naïve fool to team up with him, and that is Isshiki's story of becoming a great detective.

Hmm, still needs some cooking...

Wasn't expecting much since it's diomedea but this doesn't look bad actually. Ron's quite the eccentric detective with how he does things but he sure goes for the kill after finding the culprit which is also his fatal flaw. But now with the useless guy with him, he maybe be able to detective work again.

Big fan of Akira Amano's Hitman Reborn and I like this manga as well. Looking forward to seeing upcoming cases animated and I also gotta get upto date with the manga, haven't read it since last year.

Well, from the outset, this feels like a somewhat cheesy, edgy detective show, but there's some mystery surrounding Ron, and Isshiki is just your typical protagonist that's struggling at his job. From the trailer I thought the animation would be bad, but it's alright I guess. Hope the cases don't get too gimmicky or repetitive.

This literally just feels like japanized Sherlock Holmes, both of them are even similar in appearance, with Ron here being kinda tall guy with black hair like Sherlock and Toto being short guy with blonde hair like John, and I love Sherlock very much so I ain't complaining, also loved that they didn't waste a single second of episode time with stuff like openings/endings etc. First episodes should be more like that so you get hooked

Ron is definitely an eccentric detective, and to call his methods "unconventional" would be an understatement. Don't judge a book by its cover though, because despite how unremarkable he looks, he's clearly a genius as he solved this murder case without breaking a sweat. This should be a fun show to follow as long as the cases are interesting.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

MAL is literally just anime Twitter as its own website lol.

Ooohh. Nice mystery, funny comedy, fun chemistry, and Ron is quite handsome when his eyes show signs of life lol. I think the only thing that felt a bit "off" was when Ron explained it all to Toto when they were all still inside the barbershop... it was a bit jarring for me to see them having their own question and answer session when the culprit could escape at any time... but maybe as detectives they didn't have the authority to arrest the culprit, so... so Ron acted faster by locking the fence so he couldn't escape and told him to jump lmao, that was really something crazy! xD I didn't expect it at all.

But honestly it was pretty fun. I thought it would be more heavy on the comedy but the mystery was nice too. I'll definitely watch this every week.

Oh hell yea a good detective show? Sign me up. After undead girl ended I needed more of this on a weekly basis. Kinda feels like a less over the top balance unlimited with the dynamic between Toto and Ron

Killing people because you didn’t do your DD properly with your portfolio is crazy πŸ’€ this is why you don’t invest money you can’t afford to lose and you set stop losses. Should’ve never got down that bad off the stock market. Now you’re going to prison and STILL broke, dumbass.

I like the gimmick with Ron’s ability to make people off themselves. A 100 percent solved rate and a 0 percent arrested rate is hilarious. He and Toto are going to make a perfect team since Toto will make sure these perps face justice, the proper way.

Funny first episode with some really good animation. As with all detective mystery shows the key is going to be making sure the cases remain fun and engaging. Let’s see what they got cooked up.

Union Square Garden OP as well, takes me back to FGO Babylonia.

Mystery-detective show to enjoy this season, I guess. Pretty good start. I hope this will be consistent. Ron's fatal flaw is to kill the culprit. That caught me by surprise when he made an order to that barber to jump. Now that's really something. The reason why it's called forbidden deductions and him being a deranged detective. I've got the sense that that's the case. Let's see how the story will play out.

Oh, I was eagerly anticipating this. I'm a sucker for stories like this, and it didn't let me down. The first episode was a blast. I'm fond of the character design, and they nailed the voice acting. Can't wait to see where this takes us.

Edit: Wow, his eyes are strikingly beautiful. I saw it coming, but still.

The main character oddly resembles a blend of Dazai and Ranpo's traits, right? He's a vexing, attractive, somewhat eccentric guy who seems to have it all figured out already.

A good start. For a while, I haven't found a crime anime that presents a crime scene perfectly. The characters are great now.

One thing I want is for it to be presented in a strong and deep way. I don’t know, but I find that 13 episodes are only a few and we will have difficulty getting attached to the characters and the story. I do not wish for it to have several parts. I would have liked it to have been one part and many episodes.

I was really feeling a detective anime, been a while since I’ve watched one so this was nice to see this fall season, and a great first episode it was. It was clear that something was up with Ron upon Toto’s first meeting with him, of course he’s absolutely amazing at solving cases as expected but the twist where he kills the culprit in an almost supernatural way that seemed kinda like hypnosis was wild lol, this man has the power to make someone off their self and he doesn’t remember how it happens every time, definitely an interesting mystery revolving around this mystery solving man.

I also like the dynamic between our main detective duo already, we didn’t see a whole lot of it but I can tell it’s gonna be fun going forward, and hopefully eventually we might see a case that Ron doesn’t immediately solve which might shake things up between them. And no OP and ED yet but we heard one of them near the end of the episode, not sure which but I look forward to hearing them with visuals, and I also look forward to more of this every week! Definitely a unique mix of shoes on Monday for me this season lol.

This was incredibly awesome, more than I thought. I enjoyed it a lot, and laughed quite a bit, while it was very easy to understand that the culprit was the guy from the hair sallon. I really like Ron's personality, that seems to swop in between very lonely and depressive to bratty in a few seconds, I love it! Looking foward to more episodes!

disappointing first episode ngl. the barber deduction makes sense, but the barber himself acted way too dumb, and didn't seem like someone who could get that many kills. i hope every case isn't as easy as this one for ron.

First of all: This show does trigger my Fugou Keiji: Balance Unlimited trauma so I might be overly skeptical here.

On the positive side, I like the comedy and chemistry between the main characters. That was really fun to watch. Ron's "sickness" is also really interesting.

However, I'm a bit worried. While the episode was good by itself, he mystery around Ron was resolved already (aside from why the victims do as they're told) and so was the case. Where will this show go now?

Also, the case wasn't really great. I guess they wanted to squeeze one into the premiere and that's ok. But this standart won't do for future episodes. Especially with this "I solved it! Now let me explain what happend" format.

The last thing I need is an episodic show about an overpowered detective explaining what nice crimes the author can come up with. But if it instead brings up a case not even Ron can solve, or something about his backstory on why he has the "sickness" or why his deduction is so amazing, it could become really good. Guess I'll wait and see.

And finally: A cushion floor is NOT a good idea if you're living with cats.

Checked this out randomly and the the anime description does it no justice. I found it way more entertaining than the descriptions made it sound.

And Ron has some funky/odd quirks. Like him already! I just hope the jokes/comedy doesn't get corny/old soon....

The trailer does not do justice to this anime at all. That was great

  • Desperate Idealist Cop
  • Shut in Sleuth with a BIG Problem
  • Who can't contain his curiosity
  • He has legit skillz!
  • He's also got a MAJOR ... huge ... problem .... that's a disability of epic proportions

It's witty, it's funny, it's amazingly entertaining! More people should watch this. I actually enjoyed this more than SLF which is saying a lot.

Reading the first 6 or so chapters of the manga, I had somewhat high expectations for the anime
Upon watching, I've decided to list the pros and cons of the first episode, mainly regarding the animation

Pros:
- original MC personality for a detective -> acts rude & mean but softens once he learns Toto is recommended by Kikuさん, responsible enough to raise a cat
- chemistry between the 2 MC's
- Ron doesn't mind Toto's lack of 敬θͺž & habit of voicing negative impressions/thoughts
- Toto doesn't mistreat Ron despite his shabby appearance and trusts Ron's reputation before Ron proves his deduction skills
- drowning case is original, I enjoyed it as i haven't seen/read of similar cases

Cons:
- a detective supervisor calling out a detective's name loudly in front of others, proceeding to tell him to go home & sleep, then calling them useless without a sarcastic tone, is unnatural & unusual (if this happened irl, it'd create workforce friction, unless they're close, which isn't shown to be the case)
- illogical that Ron was able to see POLLEN DUST on Toto's suit from a door peep hole (would be logical IF Ron saw the dust later in front of Toto, then deduces he's been to the shrine)
- Ron's background is flawed... the more intellectually capable someone is, the more they suffer from being unable to stimulate their intellect. Hence the fact he's able to stay sane without anything to do except 4h daily exercise & occasional detective visits, for at least 9 months (since the drowning case is 9 months long) is incomprehensible

- would you buy/have any earplugs if you lived in a place without internet/media?
- what type of phone puts the caller on speaker once you pick up the call?
- what type of phone then puts caller on vicinity volume without you clicking the screen once you hold it to your ear?

- Ron's awfully chipper & quick to wake up to answer a doorbell for someone who has a nocturnal lifestyle
- do you all know how much it hurts to jump forward and land on your back? (hint: hurts more than falling while standing!) Not even buff cloud-looking men would wanna do that
- now i know many anime have unique eye systems/types like Naruto, Blue Lock... but i'm confused why Ron's eyes turn from dark blue to light blue?
- WHAT HAPPENED to the showerhead the barber was holding? WHEN did he turn it off? WHY did the water sound get muted after Ron enters??
- legit though if the barber is realistically a serial killer, he'd be savage enough to pick up a razor and attack both Toto & Ron right there and then
- how did Ron have access to the roof without going through the barbershop first? Roofs in Japan don't have multiple entrances
- how did Toto cover 5-10m and manage to catch a man that had already jumped, falling at 9.8m/s/s? Seemed as if Toto became Iida Tenya for a second
- barber looked around 170cm tall, slim build.. so that's 54-60Kg assuming lower end healthy BMI. Now imagine someone w. Toto's build hold that mass for 49 seconds w. disadvantaged leverage and suboptimal centre of gravity, thereby increasing the perceived mass of the barber
- idek what to say about Ron's miraculous Wonder Woman whip-like contraption w. a self-targeting mechanism with a tensile strength of Spiderman's silk

For a detective anime, I was disappointed by the lack of attention in the minor, and major details .-.
Dazai/Ranpo >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Ron .- -. -.-- -.. .- -.--

It’s like a reverse Detective Conan: he’s big, he’s hot, his personality is terrible and his culprits end up dead.
