As sweet and badass this ep was I really hope both the scum bitvh ass mother and daughter duo dont get off with just a slap on the wrist. They literally committed a heinous crime and deserve punishment for their actions. Even more so they better not try and attempt to redeem them.

I'm so glad Miyo finally found a place where she can be herself and be happy. Kaya went over the line and I hope she and her mother both rot in prison in the end. Her father is no exception, he's pretty much the reason for all of this happening after abandoning Miyo and letting them go this far.

But, I'm kind of dissapointed, I wanted to see Kiyoka show more of his anger and do more damage to them, not stopping after telling her to "Shut up". Although I understand that's not what Miyo would want, since she is so kind.

So far this show does a good job of merging the two genres of magic/fantasy and romance. I have seen some people say they don't care for the politics of it all, but otherwise it would be a very generic show with little to offer. These situations Miyo is put in allow her to grow as a character and it is great to see. Miyo standing up for herself finally was such a great show of growth. I suspect she will end up being a really powerful supernatural user.

I loved seeing her get saved and having her man shit on Kaya like that. Such a satisfying moment.

Holy moly, it was difficult to watch how Miyo was treated by Kaya and the stepmom but also satisfying to see Kiyoka fighting to save Miyo and telling Kaya he will never marry an arrogant girl like her. I did cry a little, with my heart feeling like it was pierced but all is good. This was the best episode so far.
Senjougahara: Don't call me "this chick"
Araragi: Then what should I call you?
Senjougahara: Senjougahara-sama.
Araragi: SEN - JOU - GA - HAA - RAA - SAA - MAA
Senjougahara: I don't like the way you say it. Say it properly.
Araragi: Senjougahara-chan~

I was really happy seeing Miyo realize she isn't weak and doesn't have to do something just because he sister says so. I kind of would like to see them a bit more developed if that's in the source material (I don't know what's in the novels), but at the same time sometimes people are just abusive and cruel and nothing justifies or explains it.

I'm sure most people would agree that seeing Miyo being verbally and physically abused by Kaya and her mother was a tough watch. I'm seen my fair share of deplorable characters in my time of watching anime, but I won't deny that Kaya and her mother would rank up high in that list of scum.

As expected, the plan was going to fall apart as they dared to piss off Kiyoka, who stayed calm, but that in itself made him more powerful as he destroyed the front entrance of the Saimori grounds and, twice, thrashed Koji's father in battle. To add more satisfaction, he found where Miyo was held, rescued her and delivered one savage verbal putdown on Kaya before leaving.

Once again, I do respect Koji for how he handled himself in this saga. He was brave enough to hold Kaya and told her how foolish she was, but at the same time, making sure that she won't do anything stupid to herself as even that would bring grief to Miyo, considering how pure she is as a person.

For now, Miyo is back in safe hands with Kiyoka and Yurie and their interactions with each other was incredibly wholesome and sweet. However, it doesn't look like it'll be long before someone will make a move for her again. Poor Miyo deserves as much happiness and peace as humanely possible. Her defiant refusal to cave into Kaya and her mother's demands was admirable and brave, which thankfully paid off with Kiyoka rescuing her. I can only hope the pair will have many peaceful and wholesome interactions with each other before the next antagonist makes their move.

The experience of witnessing Kudo's masterful dismantling of those repugnant individuals was undoubtedly cathartic, yet amidst the bombastic display, what left the most profound impression on me during this episode was Miyo's unwavering resolve. It was a transformative moment where her life hung in the balance, isolated without any support due to her brief cohabitation with Kudo and Yurie. For the very first time, she found the strength within herself to stand up against her abusers, a stark departure from her past experiences. No matter the hurdles they presented, Miyo refused to bend or fracture; her determination remained unyielding. With an admirable display of fortitude, she valiantly fought for the happiness she inherently deserved.

This episode, in its entirety, can only be described as phenomenal. The credit undoubtedly goes to Takushi Koide, the storyboard artist and episode director, whose contribution was nothing short of exceptional. Best episode yet imo.

Yeah ... i don't think i have ever watched an anime with a japanese commentary track ... like what xD

Anyway, what a drama once again. I can see people still being angry with Miyo, but you need to understand the upbringing she had, that's what partly made her into who shes now. But the voice, and eyes of defiance she showed this episode is definitive proof of her change, growth (also having a cool boyfriend with superpowers helps too, i guess, lol).

Also, from all the episodes till now, we've seen only bits and pieces of the supernatural element that this show has, this week's episode is going full on that, with Kudou's rampage to get Miyo back, no matter what.

I guess it gives us a nice scale of sorts, of what some of the supernatural individuals are capable of. But i still feel like the whole fantasy element is redundant.

I'm still holding hope for Kaya.

I think the fantasy element is what makes this story better. It adds another dimension to the story. Until previous episode or maybe before that, we know that Miyo has no power of its own. But we now know she has some power which is bothering even the other clans & probably the king (as surmise based on dubbed version). This will add more depth towards the life & growth of Miyo as an individual (over an above the one she would need without the fantasy element).

So, I don't agree with fantasy element being redundant.

Props to Kudou for keeping his cool and not painting the walls with those two, i personally would have use them as paint with slight note of torture before hand, like knowing how they treated her and seeing it first had men has nerves of steal.

Damn, this episode had me at the edge of my seat for two totally different emotions. For the most bit, it was angst at the way Mio-san’s step family was treating her and the other was the anticipation of Kudo-san making it to her side. Add on top of that, the lightning ability and step up in animation for that, it was a 10/10 episode for sure. Gee, that scene of him knocking out the Saimori head reminded me of FMAB’s Roy Mustang finger snaps.

I couldn't agree more, this episode was a rollercoaster of emotions! The Lightning Ability was badass and I hadn't made that connection with Mustang, I love it even more now haha

Kouji & Kiyoka are on their way to rescue Miyo from a horrible family. I couldn't bare to watch Miyo being treated like that, my boiling hot water meter went through the roof. I'm so glad that Miyo stood up for herself and said what she wanted to say and stayed strong.

Kiyoka casually destroying the whole gate because its on his way and also defeating Minoru, twice. This Minoru guy is so dumb for using fire in a fight where a house is nearby. That scream from Kanoko was golden, suffer, like you made Miyo suffer. The words from Kiyoka towards Kaya were so good and awesome, well deserved "arrogant woman", that you are Kaya. Kiyoka coming to the rescue for Miyo was just outstanding. Miyo sees her mother again in a dream. Looks like Arata and some other old dude are up to something. Yurie taking all the blame on her but it wasn't even her fault to begin with, but its nice to see her care so much for Miyo. Miyo's smile at the end was just heartwarming.

i absolutely adored this episode. some individuals may say that her being saved by her husband makes her weak, but i completely disagree. she's growing so much with each episode and this time you could see how strong and brave she was. i love her dearly, they both fought for each other in their own ways, the best they could. i really like how this story feels like a fairytale, i feel like we haven't gotten a romance anime like that in a while. so far i'm very satisfied with the show :)

p.s. also, besides kudo, i really like koji. he's ready to give up on miyo despite loving her, just so she can live a life she deserves. he puts her first and thinks about what's the best for her - that's very sweet of him, i hope he can get his happy ending too

Where's the damned equal rights when you need it??? POS "mother and sister" got away scot free for torturing Miyo. Kudou has god-level self-control it seems... Sure, their house burned down, but that's hardly anything. Bitch-slap would've been so satisfying, or some Vader-type force-choke or something. At best Kudou should've said something like "We're not done here. I'll be coming back for you all" or something like that with sinister gaze. These people did kidnapping, torture, assault, attempted murder... Heads should roll!!! It'll honestly be disappointing if the whole confrontation is later glossed over. We had serious mage-battle in a city and a huge fire! Certainly police or some law enforcement should get involved here - hopefully leading to arrests, more humiliation and harsh punishments of these scumbags.

I don't get the hype about this anime. I don't hate it, I just think it is average and kinda slow and predictable. I wanted to be more surprised and fulfilled, yes the story is sad and heartwarming, but it's not filling my heart with sadness and happiness. It's bland compared to other romance and/or supernatural shows. I know it's to early to make a strong judgement and a final statement, but seeing the score it has, I was certainly hoping for a lot more.

I have not seen this kind of cathartic episode since the ending of 86, now My Happy Marriage has provided us with THIS.

The amount of emotion displayed and its execution has left me speechless.
Seeing Miyo stand up for herself even in the face of her abusive sister and stepmother, this is what her growth has led to. To see Miyo change in the short amount of time she's spent with Kiyoka, the rise and development is incredible. Miyo has come a long way and with the help of Kiyoka, will continue to grow. She's stepping out of that dark and isolated cage, stepping into the light in reach of Kiyoka with new strength and resolution. The level of suspense provided by the action, as we see Kiyoka and Kouji fight to reach Miyo. The animation and visual effects are beautiful to see. It is crystal fucking clear how Miyo has also impacted Kiyoka, being the first fiancée not to chase him for power or money, but being the first to see him for who he is. The way he puts down Kaya and Kanoko with absolute authority is magnificent to see, that intolerance and disgust you hear in his voice is breathtaking. To think that this BITCH Kaya even has a chance with him is ridiculous, I've felt so bad for Kouji this entire time. Seeing Yurie cry after Miyo wakes up is heartwarming, showing how much she cares and was concerned for Miyo.
I know this must've been hard for a lot of people to watch, myself included. All of the voice actors deserve a round of applause for their performance and effort.

I'm sorry if I'm commenting a lot or rambling or whatever, but this episode is simply phenomenal. I had a lot of thoughts bottling in my mind after finishing the episode, and this is that. If there's anything you want to point out, feel free to.
As always with a send off, have a lovely Wednesday everyone.

This episode was crazy. After all of the buildup, Miyo's character development made me so happy. That determined face felt so rewarding after seeing her hardships. Not to mention, we got a surprisingly good looking fight scene. Not a lot of character animation, but the lightning, gust of wind, fire, etc. were great. And man, the voice acting were top tier. What a great episode. One of the best anime episodes I've seen in a while.

I need more punish for the blonde bitch and the woman than made such an awful thing as giving birth to her! Anything! A slap, a spit on their face, some lighting, anything! So unfair that they get out of that unpunished!
Maybe is just me, but I never forgive people! Not until they receive something as bad as they did in exchange.

But very good anime. With this chapter made me feel a very strong emotion, hate. I'm not satisfied though because there was no revenge.

This was the best episode by far. From the animation, to the storytelling, to everything. The episode was filled with emotion from start to finish. Kudou-san continues to prove that he is the best partner for Miyo, and Miyo begins to show courage and shows the unwillingness to succumb to her old lifestyle. Wow, I'm mindblown.

Before this whole kidnapping insident I had thought there was some hope to redeem Kaya. Like she was really awful but I could understand why she was like it because of her mother always raised her to be an awful human being and saw how Miyo was treated and just did the same. But this time she went way too far plus she is old enough to be held responsible for her actions. I mean I fully believe she would've killed Miyo if Kudou hadn't come to rescue her. And in my eyes that makes her irredeemable character. It was so sad to see Miyo that way. And even though the stepmom and Kaya aren't very fleshed out character outside how awful they are, it is very realistic to see them go after Miyo when they realised they had lost all the power over their victim and that Miyo was thriving. Such sad gross humans can't understand that they themselves are the reason why they're unhappy and blame it all on people they can abuse.

I think I said it last week too, but I'm glad Koji was actually a good person and did the right thing here. Sure he had been a passive on looker to Miyo's abuse but I think he didn't know just how bad it was and he felt powerless to stop it at the time. But I'm glad he stepped up here when there was things he could do and that he didn't selfishly think he could get with Miyo this way. I hope he won't still get married to Kaya. First of all he deserves better than that and second I just can't imagine marrying the person who you saw almost kill the person you love out of jealousy. Koji is kind of doormat so he might still marry her but I hope he won't

I also feel like the show might try to redeem Kaya later, but I just do not see myself ever thinking that she is anything but a horrible person and hope she gets what is coming to her. If she will get redeemed she better have suffered for her actions before that and feel incredible guilt for the rest of her life for what she has done.

There seems to be more problems coming soon too but I hope it won't get too dark again. It would be nice to see Miyo and Kudou happy. I feel like Miyo's supernatural powers will probably start showing soon too, so I hope she keeps on getting stronger mentally and physically.

Overall I am really enjoying this series and seems like a first act has now ended and we start a new one next episode. Excited to see where the story goes next.

This episode was just excellent! I'm so happy Miyo stood up to her abusers and in the end got rescued by Kudo. What a sweet episode. Not to mention, it was nice there was a bit supernatural battle going on, though...I wonder when Miyo's supernatural will awaken and just how 'bad' it can be, to strike so much fear in other people like that. Besides, if she is as important (because of her blood) why she was treated like crap for so long? Why only now take action? Oh well, that is my only complaint, otherwise the episode was a very good one~.

I still can't believe how much Miyo has had to go through, but after Kudo has saved her it looks like she will be somewhat free from this part of her past, with the people now around her I think she will do much better.
With this arc over, the ending shows that clearly something else is brewing.

This story is taking on almost epic nuances. Miyo's stepmother and stepsister are characters that really generate a visceral hatred in you, the classic models of envious, intriguing women who believe they are superior to others without realizing that all their mistakes are what make them despicable (a very apt metaphor of the Japanese feeling before the foreign invasion arrived after the changes of the Meiji period). Kudo behaved like a true hero not allowing himself to be fooled with cheap tricks and showing why he has been giving in to Miyo's charm. An episode full of mixed emotions, fabulous and memorable. Let's hope the story continues with that same tone. Definitely the best of this season.

I don´t think I could hate Kaya and her mother more, even if I tried. This is a level of evil I just can´t wrap my head around. Maybe it´s their motivations I don´t understand, or just their personality, but the way they go above and beyond to harm and torment Miyo makes my blood boil. And I never wanted a man to slap a woman in the face so much as I wanted Keiko to just smack Kaya across the face. With all the politics surrounding the powers and who gets to have them, I can´t see this being over for Kudos and Miyo any time soon.

Damn Kaya and Kanoko are top tier trash.
Anyways
Episode was just ok
4 issues with the episode
1.) I think the hatred of the mother and Kaya was overzealous. I thought the mother hated Miyo because she was the daughter of the first wife, so there was no reason for her to mess with Miyo after throwing her out of the house to what they considered an abusive household. I think Kaya went too far and the fact that her mom was completely fine with it was over the top.
2.) Kiyoka revealing he's our overpowered main character. They stated earlier that he was from a powerful household but allegedly as you get older as long as you practice your powers you get stronger, so tfw Kiyoka literally obliterated two old men from prestigious households without breaking a sweat was a bit over the top imo.
3.) Miyo's random inner strength. This entire time the anime has acted like Miyo is traumatized and can fall to pieces at any moment. And yet she completely rebels against her mother and Kaya after being kidnapped by them and threatened.
4.) The continuation of the drama. They fr adding a "Your Majesty" to the list of people against Kiyoka and Miyo getting married.

At this point someone should create a meme where a priest is marrying the two, asks if anyone has any objections, and then the entire damn audience stands up
