And good for you that you've finished or completed over 260 of anime shows!

You started joining MAL a few months earlier than me, but you completed more shows than I did!

I don't see the benefit of being a MAL subscriber for myself.

But, I can see why other people do it. If you're a YouTube blogger or streamer and want to publicize your anime/manga to random people, then MAL (as well as AniList, Anime Planet, etc.) are social media/entertainment websites that cater to those people's needs.

Good for them utilizing various social media/entertainment websites to their benefit as they can earn money from social media like Twitter, YouTube, etc. while also maintaining subscriptions on MAL accounts and the likes.

As for me, I'm just an ordinary anime/manga consumer; and am mostly here on MAL to interact with people with the same mindset and taste as me (cause none of the members of my family have the otaku blood). I can't enjoy watching the Oshi no Ko anime series when I'm with my parents cause they don't understand anime culture/manga culture references, etc.; that's why, I bent out my frustrations and manga/anime analyses, and character appreciations on the MAL forums, profile comments, discussion boards since I can meet/talk to people with the same thinking as me (well, more or less 😊).

Ohhh...that makes sense, yeah...

And then, there's that whole thing where members have to subscribe (or pay) if we even want to list 20 MAL favourite characters... yup, yup, I understand your reasoning...

As for me, I'm fine with being a non-paying member.

And, if I ever do get to the point that I'd have to list my MAL favourite anime/manga characters, series, and the likes, I can do that just freely through my MAL profile (even if it's just gonna be written on the sections of my About Me profile)... 😄

That being said, you also don't create a MAL favourites list.

If you would have, I bet you'd show your favouritism for the Kyō Sōma character by ranking or placing him in your Top Three like you said in your earlier comment. 😄

I didn't realized at first that your MAL profile is Kyō Sōma from Fruits Basket. It's been so long since I read that manga/watched the anime reboot.

When I read your card on that link that you provided on your MAL profile, you strike me as someone who's had a deep affinity with the Kyō Sōma character. That must be the reason why you used him as the background for your card (along with Tōru Sōma) and as your MAL profile. (Just putting my two cents out there.)

I also respect your opinion when you mentioned in your MAL profile how you don't give scores to anime/manga because everyone has their own biases when it comes to the medium.
