| I'm not sure about the chief or the politician dude, but at this point I'm betting that the series is going to mainly focus on the development of the MC and not worry as much about the other characters (which is fine if done right). I'm looking forward to what they do with the concepts they've given since they're interesting, but hopefully they are applied to the story in a way so that the story progresses in a natural way (i.e pacing). Overall though, I do think this has the possibility of being amazing, all depends on execution. |

| Well then... a shame about the wait to continue the story, but that's what happens with advanced previews. I just hope nobody forgets about it during the break. I can't wait for it to come back, and to see how the mysteries continue to unravel. I'd say I'm sufficiently invested at this point. |

| Oh man... oh man. This show has taken some real turns over the span of 3 episodes. I'm hoping this transcends murder mystery thriller into Psycho-Passian, at least surface-level philosophy on life and death. Will Itsuki -- the mayor; excuse me if I'm confusing names -- present an argument for controlling death as a necessary counterpoint to life, valuable in its time for socioeconomic purposes, as Seizaki, a firm adherent to the innate value of life, engages in a battle of psychology and philosophy with him? There's definitely a way to portray this without painting the mayor as an unsympathetic villain, but the unsympathetic villain route may work too depending on how it's pulled. I suspect some heavy sci-fi or even supernatural elements will creep into the show as we begin to understand Magase's nature and how people are being manipulated into suicide en masse. I'm really psyched. I haven't seen a good anime mystery/thriller in several years. |

| These first 3 episodes were fantastic, I'm hooked now. Waiting a few weeks until the next episode hurts a lot, but I feel like re-watching the episodes now and pay attention to subtle hints. My favorite of this season by far from what I have watched. |

| Well the right to die is definitely a real thing, and I don't necessarily think that's wrong per se. I mean if a person for whatever reason really is suffering to the point of finding life too miserable to continue no matter how much help or therapy they get then who are we to prevent them from taking their own lives peacefully? However, when you're using drugs and whatever strange manipulative abiltiies that Magase Ai seems to have then such a system naturally becomes insanely abusable and can be abused for nothing but evil actions too It's an interesting premise though. Can't say I've seen a mystery thriller quite like this before |

| Damn, this is quite something! A little worried that Ai Magase's whole "becoming someone else entirely" will come to a tame end though but that aside, this is truly quite some thriller that I'm definitely hooked to! Seeing those people jump off glee and in synchrony plus some really powerful shots there to amplify the scenes was just fabulous! Coupled with this the cinematography from the last episode (and the perfect VA to boot of course), oh boy this might just end up an expected dime! I wasn't expecting anything of this sort one bit but I'm not complaining one bit either, the later episodes better keep this up! Looks like the Detective's fears came to light after all, I wonder how they're going to stop this formidable duo of the mayor and Ai Magase. One more week from now, it's a good thing I was too busy these days to shorten the wait span lol. Will definitely rewatch bits and pieces before the next episode though, I feel like the moment I lose track of things it'll bite. |

| After watching this episode I can truly say the F word. Females are the most fearsome figures in the world. I remember reading a story back in my childhood titled 'Never trust a Lady', which haunts me till date. This plot seems similar to that. How compelling and controlling can a woman be to incite the minds of people around them to commit suicide of their own accord? Truly diabolically mesmerizing. |

| Woof, what a ride that was. Don't think I've been invested in a thriller like this since Psycho-Pass. At the very least, now I can understand why the title is called so... Just needs a Jackass King throwing unlimited weapons at people like a dick, and we'll be all set. Certainly looking forward to more! |

Likes: A good story, characters, writing, romance, a good plot twist or something that breaks expectations (In a good way), 'backstory' and justice. Dislikes: Bad romance, too much fanservice, the harem genre, yuri, yaoi, and bad writing. |
| I haven't been in love with a Psychological/Thriller this much since I saw Monster for the first time, about 7 years ago. Does this make anyone else just as nervous that it is going to be only 12 episodes? I would be heartbroken if it ends at 12 and then never has anything more coming out! q_q |

| It might just be me, but it doesn't look like the rest of the Shiniki Initiative was in on the mayor's plan. They look like they just realized that they'd been played for fools. Nomura, especially, looked like that. Minor nitpick, but, like, if Itsuki wanted to popularize the right to die, why did he have all those people jump off the building? I feel like there'd be a less spectacular way to get the people on your side. The dude went full evil villain when he stretched his arms out like a megalomaniac. Haha. Anyway, that twist was super well executed and I can't wait for more episodes. Also, I really hope the suicidal people standing on the building was an homage to Ghost in the Shell. |

| I am definitely HOOKED. This series just gets better and better with each passing episode. Not gonna be that person that goes "I knew this and that was gonna happen" but I had a strong feeling that the first woman that was seen with Ano and the short-haired woman that saw Fumio before he committed suicide were the same person but in disguise. However, i didn't think that the woman they interrogated plus the two women I mentioned were all the same, I thought Emiko was an entirely different person. It's because they have different body shapes, facial features, etc. |

| According to Mitori, the drug only made people who took it sleep and never be able to wake up again. But people willingly jumping off to their own deaths? That's creepy af and waiting for the supernatural element to unravel itself. It would've been much better if the over-the-top death jumps were replaced by subtle deaths after swallowing the drug and hence would put the emphasis on the new literally drug. But fascinated how the story goes from here onward. |
| I feel like this is either going to be amazing or a trainwreck the first three episodes overall actually really scared me. First is the casual way the election is thrown, but then Itsuki's speech. Eco-fascism is one of my adult nightmares...I could easily see a 1970s dystopian future movie happening in the future irl where it becomes fashionable to commit suicide or government makes death camps for people over a certain age as one of the responses to climate change. The idea of Shiniki as a neoliberal zone for Big Pharma is kinda surprising, both in its timeliness as an American living through the killer opioid epidemic, but also in that Japanese characters like Seizaki's police friend doesn't seem to have gotten the memo from 2010s America that rushing drugs to market is bad for society, mmmkay? |
| That was crazy, holy shit! Neat directing and soundtrack but I think this whole philosophical idea behind 'the right to death' requires some amount disbelief or perhaps that just my own philosophy standing in the way of being able to accept what Itsuki was going on about. The idea that Ai Magase was able to just brainwash people into taking their own lives is a little too crazy for a show that seems to be grounded in a more realistic modern setting but let's see. Curious to see how this is gonna proceed from here. |

| Okay that was something else. I'm gonna summarize and try to put into a timeline the things that happened so I don't get lost in this mystery. 1. It started as a simple investigation about drugs (Agras) where they get subjects from four universities to lie about its effectiveness. Turns out it was a sleeping pill developed by Inaba of a different medical school. 2. They investigate Inaba and found out he was in an apparent suicide from anesthesia overdose looking happy. Seizaki questions the motive behind the method since he thought it was an uncertain way to die but there was no evidence of murder and there was even a will that doesn't look suspicious so they rule it out as suicide in the end. They also found out there was a couple (Ano and a woman #1) who often visited Inaba two months ago and the pieces of hair, nails and skin were from the doctor who went insane. Ano turned out to be the private secretary of Nomaru (a mayoral candidate). 3. They investigate Ano and found out they were buying votes from the head of a voting bloc in Tokyo (Chijima) using women #2. 4. Fumio follows the woman #2 and he ended up committing suicide as well even though he had no reason to do so which puzzles Seizaki so he rules it out as murder. 5. They investigate Fumio's case and found out the apartment the woman #2 lived in was registered under a member of a political supporter's group. Seizaki deduces that it was Nomaru's because of Ano but it's actually under Itsuki Kaika (another mayoral candidate). Seizaki then concludes that the candidates are affiliated behind the scenes. 6. Seizaki calls Mitoni whom he gave Inaba's computer to investigate and found out there's a file with heavy encryption to it. 7. Seizaki and his journalist bestfriend (Hanta) meet up to discuss. Hanta found out that the Construction Contractors Federation, Doctors League and Trade Union are playing golf together which Hanta thinks is odd because the League and Union support different parties, Liberal Justice and People's Life respectively. Since it's a golf course, they can't approach them easily so they follow them to an inn they were staying after instead. They find another woman #3 (Emiko Hiramatsu) with them and Seizaki confronts her for interrogation. 8. Woman #3 does some mindfucking around to confuse Seizaki. He leaves the room for a bit and when he returns, the woman already left/escaped and Okuda (the investigator with him) was in a sort of trance. 9. Seizaki reports to his superior about the investigation regarding the mayoral election and boom Nomaru enters the room which shocks Seizaki. 10. Turns out Nomaru and Morinaga (Seizaki's superior) are working together that's why the former invited the latter for a discussion in the previous episode. Nomaru reveals that he assigned Inaba to work on a problem about drug lag (delay in new drugs getting approved) and the Construction Contractors Federation to work on a plan about relaxing construction restrictions and the Trade Union to cooperate on a new Labor Standards Act which is why they were hanging out together. These three are the ones who are gonna build Shiniki (new Tokyo) which is a special zone for testing out new laws for the nations. Nomaru reveals that he wasn't gonna become the first mayor of the city despite the initial voting results but instead they were gonna rig the election through the voting blocs to make Itsuki win because he was young, charismatic and fit for the leader of a new generation. 11. Seizaki questions them if they had any relation to Fumio's death. Nomaru and Morinaga declines and that Inaba and Fumio's deaths also struck them as odd. They ask Seizaki to continue investigating the matter which he is conflicted with since that means he's also gonna ignore a crime that's happening right before his eyes. Seizaki returns the next day and made his decision to continue investigating for Fumio's sake but he is still at a crossroads with what to think about Nomaru and Morinaga's actions. 12. Seizaki and Kujin discuss about their ends and flashbacks to when Seizaki met Itsuki which he thought was just a liar and too suspiciously perfect. 13. Seizaki calls Mitoni and they found out that Fumio did meet with woman #2 before he committed suicide then receives more info from Kujin regarding woman #1 which they decide to investigate next. 14. Seizaki reports to Morinaga who tells him that Itsuki went missing just a day before the inauguration ceremony along with his close advisors and their top-secret election documents stolen. Morinaga asks him to join in the investigation which he refused since he has no intention of getting involved with the Shiniki Initiative and is only doing it for Fumio. He then presents the pictures two women (#1 and #2) which he believes are involved with Fumio's death and asks permission to interrogate them. Morinaga says their interests align since the woman also disappeared with Itsuki. Seizaki confused asks which one of the two which Morinaga replied that both are the same woman which he already met a few times before whom he commented that she looked completely different each time (appearance and demeanor) and also reveals that the woman #3 Seizaki interrogated is the same person as the two. The woman (Magase Ai) was originally brought by Itsuki. Without her the Shiniki Initiative would have been held back by 10 years and she sped up the process through her skills as a seducer. 15. Seizaki meets up with Kujin and Hanta. Hanta comments about Itsuki's character as a "good man" judging by his academic records and career which is pretty straightforward so Itsuki going missing by himself must have a purpose. The conversation shifts towards Magase Ai and based on Inaba and Fumio's contact with her before their suicides, Kujin asks Seizaki if he ever had thought of committing suicide after talking to her during their interrogation to which he declined. Seizaki then remembers what happened to Okuda and tries to contact him and found out he also went "missing." There was an urgent news about people climbing on top of Shiniki city hall trying to commit mass suicide and Okuda was part of them. 16. They rush to the site and Mitoni calls Seizaki and tells him about his investigations. He was able to crack the encrypted file in Inaba's computer and found out about the new drug he was developing called Nyux which isn't actually a drug but more of a sleeping pill. A very hard sleeping which puts the user at sleep naturally but then they never wake up essentially killing them without pain. In other words a drug for committing suicide. 17. Cut to the public announcement in a huge tv screen where Itsuki finally reveals himself and his plan for Shiniki where he wants to legalize suicide for those who want it under the correct judgment since he believes forcing people to live long if they don't want to anymore is detrimental to society. He then realizes that Inaba and Fumio weren't murdered as he initially believed and that they along with Okuda wanted to die which was prompted by Magase Ai. Okay wow. I think I got it all down here. Amazing episode really. What started as a simple drug case evolved into a political movement by an idealistic psychopath. The way it was setup in the last two rather grounded episodes to this over-the-top climax was just great. Yeah a supposed "realistic and grounded" detective mystery plot turned into something over-the-top which I don't really care. So it turns out Itsuki and Magase Ai are working together behind Nomura's back and now crazy stuff is gonna happen with this woman who drives people into suicide. My only problem with this premise is that nowhere is it stated the suicide is ILLEGAL so I'm not sure where they're going with this narrative. Lets see where this goes. |

| I did a quick research and yeah suicide is indeed LEGAL in Japan. However, assisted suicide is ILLEGAL which I believe Magase Ai and the drug Nyux falls into. There's still some headscratchers about this whole premise though because it revolves around people who normally wouldn't commit suicide but would do the act because of the drug Nyux. Wouldn't that contradict Itsuki's proposed law about legalizing suicide? If people wanted to commit suicide out of their own will then they are legally allowed to do so but if they are being drugged to commit suicide then that's out of the law. The new suicide law by Itsuki doesn't make any sense at all. I'll just binge this through so I can get to the bottom of this. |

| I was expecting this to be a more grounded show, a story of an investigation into corruption and the lengths taken to keep those secrets hidden. Now we have what seems to be a shape shifting woman who can get into the minds of people to make them kill themselves. Plus a young mayor who wants to build a society where its acceptable to bring death to others or some screwy plan like that. Not sure I like this direction but Ill roll with it for now. |
