When I first saw it yesterday, I was so tired didn't wanna answer my group in the school and when I just saw the title it was enough to wake me up entirely, only Steins;Gate can do wonders like that ^_^

Can't wait for the Steins;Gate 0 to be here, the hype is overloading!

Whew... just marathon Steins;Gate last night till 6 AM then I woke up at 11 AM realizing that I'm just in time with this alternative setting <3

So the main difference is that his future self didn't send him an encouraging speech that makes him want to try it again. But somehow this could be said as Mayuri End route, but of course Kurisu is the main girl and therefore she will return as the end route.

It's nice to see Mayuri happy~ but our Okarin is sad... I've been saying this multiple times last night. Why is there no alternative endings like VN settings :3 It's sad to see the other girls sad T_T oh well... time to play the VN!

Steins;Gate 0 hype! And I'm just in time lol.

No I think it follows the Okabe who will later send the message to himself in the past.

Although I was in a fit over the idea that Kurisu would not be in the show, because of her death. Can someone, then please explain to me the part after the credits because either that threw me for such a huge loop and quite frankly, I don't know anymore and it's hard to say whether I want to watch this season when it comes out.

If you watched/read Chaos;Head then you would understand the events that lead up to Robotics;Notes. Steins Gate 0 takes place before Robotic;Notes is is sort of the prototype of what happens in Robotic;Notes. I am not sure if they follow the same timeline throughout the 3 separate series, but if you watch Robbotic;Notes then you will understand that they use the same technology and the one shown in this preview with Kurisu talking at the end is a prototype.

Putting it altogether C;H S;G and R;N have a bigger over-arching link to them than people want to admit. It is just a matter of seeiing how one event causes another rection in the next show possibly verifying that this organiization does really existt.

Hello all, I am new to MALL, but have been lurking the manga and amime discussion boards for several long years!

Definitely could relate having finished Steins;Gate like a couple of weeks ago. Just when I decide to watch the show, a sequel shows up! It must be the choice of the Steins;Gate.
Now hurry up and add this MAL so I could add it to my list.

If I'm not mistaken, the OST was from VN in most of this episode? That's great, maybe they will put original ost from VN in anime adaptation of new VN too.
Soundtrack from VN was whole universe better, like everything from Abo Takeshi. He is a genius.
EDIT
I watched it with very low volume, only one track was from VN

I was not ready for watching him stab Kurisu again.

I'm pretty confused. Shouldn't he have gotten the message from future him to "Decieve yourself. Deceive the world."? (Not gonna lie, I was waiting in anticipation for that moment >_>)

So the alteration is basically that he hasn't gotten a message from his future self. And his future self built a time machine to sent Suzuha back to the present time because?.. And in the present time Suzuha didn't convince him to go on because?.. And he still got that message in the first episode because?.. The main reason for writing this was "screw logic and everything we were building up to, we just need a sad ending"? I still have a faint hope that everything will fit in the following series. A very faint hope though.

He sent her to prevent WWIII by saving Kurisu, but he doesn't have the slightest clue to how that could be done, unlike S;G's future Okabe.

Also, he actually didn't get the message in the first episode in this timeline because there's literally no one to send it.

Suzuha was able to convince him in the original ending because she already knew what was going to happen (future Okabe told her) and showed him the message. Here, she has neither the knowledge of the events nor the message, so, understandably, all she could do in this situation is to get mad at Okabe, and she did.

Ah, that's how it is. Has it been said explicitly? I must've missed that.
Anyway, the solution that "original future Okabe" offered was not that hard of a solution to come up with, especially with 15 years of time at your back. He just needed to realize that he had never made sure that Kurisu is dead, that he just saw her lying in blood. And in this timeline Okabe was not smart enough to realize that. So... meh. I'll buy that exlanation, but... meh.

So the original world line fate rested entirely on Mayuri slapping Okabe to his senses? Also, as good as this was (especially that post-credits scene), wouldn't Okabe still get the message on his phone from his future self like in the original version of this episode? Kinda seems odd that he didn't.

Either way, the hype train for Zero has now left the station. Hopefully it comes in the Spring.

This is the story of first okabe, where he failed to save kurisu. Basically, here he doesn't get the message and moves on. He then sends the video mail to okabe of original 23rd ep. Also the original timeline didn't depend on mayuri's slap. Even if she slapped him, there will be no message to point out the loophole.

So there is no one to send the message here. Hope that clears the confusion.

Yeah, it's already pretty bad to base whole upcoming series on this flawed logic, when it clearly doesn't work. I had the same problem with S;G movie but here it's even more obvious they are trying to connect something that cannot be connected.

Hmmph, really don't like milking of this series further and further... well, so far it seems the new series will be everything over and over again.

Uhm, no, it does not. Because he still invented the time machine and sent Suzuha. It looks like it's not a first Okabe, whatever that means, but a not-so-smart Okabe.

You remember suzuha telling okabe to fail once in order to succeed?

So mainly your question is if there is no future okabe, who built the time machine?

Okay if you can understand this:-

There's kind of 3 versions of the guy.
1.Okabe who was ignorant, witnessed SERN dystopia, died, Daru or Kurisu or some combination thereof finished the time machine. Suzu goes back in FG-204. We've basically never met this Okabe (maybe the first half of ep 1?) but we did meet that Suzu (who can't recognize her dad) and experience other bits of fallout over eps 1-22.

2.Okabe who met #1's Suzu, sent a bunch of d-mails, went to save Kurisu, failed, witnessed WW3, (speculation.he finally sent himself a d-mail when he finished the c-204, in memory of kurisu). Suzu goes back in C-204, calls her dad on the phone, etc. This is the post-credits of 22, 23 beta and s;g zero.

3.Okabe who met #2's Suzu, sent a bunch of d-mails, went to save Kurisu, failed, got a d-mail, tried again, reached Steins;Gate. This is seen in the post credits of 22, ep 23 and 24.

Abt that suzuha question here:-

After he comes back the first time in one episode he gets slapped by Mayuri and watches the ominous video(here he see the okabe in this beta 23 ep), in the other that doesn't happen at all, Because of that it's kinda safe to assume that the Suzu from this episode didn't have any idea about any video at all (Doesn't mention it at all) meaning there was no such deep plan to begin with, which then doesn't make sense since the future Okabe from the original series failed once and made this plan based on that failure just like the one here should be doing, but there is no video since Suzuha just gives up too easily (If there was some sort of plan to make him fail once on purpose you'd imagine that she'd do more than try to slap him once to convince him).

A very simple explanation for the incoherences in this is that, both episodes are just slightly different world lines, now, what triggered that? I think that the Okabe from this episode, after going through whatever S;G 0 is about, he then sends a "D-mail" probably a "2.0" version of it since he sends a video to the past (heavy file?) to when episode 1 happened and that triggered the slight change in world-line, and then from there they sent Suzuha to the past with the plan in mind. Although all that I said is nothing but my own assumptions and guesses.

I tried my best to explain these confusing timelines, idk if it helped or not. XD
