Unfortunately I knew too many of the songs but thanks anyway!
And hey, I've made a playlist that i'll be continually updating with korean/other asian songs that I'm enjoying this month, check it out if you'd like. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL0H9T4c8elTWgKN7_cCNpIkyzoM670x7h
The Korean version of Scarlet heart has IU, but I would argue that the Chinese version is a little better. Of course, Korean version is pretty good too. IU is indeed pretty great, her performance in My Mister is easily one of my favorite performances in a Kdrama. Seen My Mister?
Yeah I've heard a looot about BTS, they're like almost synonymous with Kpop at this point from what I've seen..
Those BTS songs were quite good, especially the first one and Undelivered truth which I especially enjoyed. IDOL though.. I found that one to be quite mediocre in both sound and video. No offense but I could never imagine myself listening to that again, it just sounded so bad and is the kind of song I imagined when I previously avoided kpop as a whole ;_;
I'm really liking Haize and DEAN more and more. I even watched a few videos of Haize on those reality tv/talkshows which I never do.
I've heard some good things about Cheese in the trap, both the webtoon and drama. It can not hide forever, one day I will eventually consume it :p
As for those recommendations at the end.. I'll check them out and get back to you asap! Appreciate them regardless :J
I've never heard a song from BTS before, but that was pretty good and the dance routines throughout the video are impressive. I just personally don't like the whole pretty boy shtick that much of these kpop guys adopt, but that doesn't mean they don't have nice songs and videos, the later is becoming increasingly perfected these days. If you have any more of their songs to recommend don't hesitate to do so, especially if they have good dance routines :p
I quite liked that Mad Clown/Jinsil, I don't think I've heard another song from either of them but this reminded me of an old eminem song, an artist I used to love.
I believe that the second Loco song is indeed about him doing military service, quite a nice farewell song.
The BOL4 video.. I'm pretty sure it's about unrequited love based on the lyrics and the video.
The Haize and DEAN song/video is quite a fun one. They must have had a blast making the video xD. And yeah, DEAN is quite talented, it's not a coincidence I hear about him so often. Have you heard many songs form him?
Yeah I could easily imagine it being a drama ost too. Do you know if some dramas adapt older songs for their dramas? Lee sung kyun is pretty great, though I think I've only seen her in Weightlifting fairy, though I know she's been in some other series. By the way, there's also Choi Tae Joon in that video, I didn't notice him at first but I've seen him in quite a few series.
Tfw you don't mention the second last long, one of the better songs and videos out of those that I listed D:
I have a commute to uni that's a little under an hour daily, feel free to also recommend me some songs!
There are more, but I don't want to spam you too much in one day :0 Enjoy.
Well, to be honest I might be able to stomach some tragedy series it just depends how tragic of an ending it is. In fact, even a few of my favorite series and movies involve tragedy, most notably Scarlet Heart, House of flying daggers (movie), Ran (movie) and Seven Samurai (movie).. Seen any of these?
Aye, it is quite a nice sight, especially when it's during the night and those lights highlighting the structure of the buildings are on. I myself have been to a few concerts, but not an atmospheric concert like that or Yanni. On that note, ever seen a Yanni concert online?
That makes a lot more sense, that final scene and its meaning is especially insightful. I'm a big proponent of the belief that kindness breeds kindness. I've had plenty of shitty days, only to be revitalized via someones good will. Kindness is like a virus, a good kind of virus :p
I've seen WINNER before too, though i'm not the biggest kpop fan. I find the whole kpop 'culture' to be quite exciting, though the music isn't always that great. I haven't found anything too similar just read, but you know, I will be unrelenting in my search, music is one of my fuel sources :J
By the way, I recently stumbled upon a song that you might like. Colors in general often showcases some pretty fun songs and their underrated artists.
This and this being my favorite songs of theirs that I've listened to ^^
If you like Andrea you should check out the concert I mentioned before, if you haven't already :p
AKMU are indeed quite talented, I love seeing people with talent succeed like that, especially since their rise is well-documented. They also look like they're still having a blast and aren't letting the fame completely change them as I've seen with other artists in the past, I think this is quite a beautiful thing. I've seen that Give love performance previously, it's awesome to see that while they're talented, they still have kinks to work out at that point, it paints a lovely picture of their natural rise to stardom.
I just listened to melted. Good stuff, that video especially ;0 That said, I can't quite say that I understand the meaning of it completely, especially at the part where the kid gets walloped by the bartender so vigorously (just for not paying?).
Well, I went to AKMU's wiki page and found this
There's also this, https://www.reddit.com/r/kpop/comments/2denr6/artists_similar_to_the_laid_back_vibe_of_akdong/, which I'll have to rummage through!
Love Lies seems like a rather interesting movie. I don't believe I've watched a movie or drama during that time period, so that'd be a new experience. The premise itself is also something that's rather foreign to me, that is to say I don't believe I've seen a story too similar. And hey, it has the female lead from W, Dong Yi and a bunch of other similarly great series/movies, that's quite promising..
Haha, I once went through a phase where I solely listened to singers like Andrea and Pavarotti for like a solid month. In particular I must've listened to Andreas Portofino 2012 concert like 100 times, so many great songs, such a great atmosphere.. I wish I was there ><
Definitely listen to Pavarotti's rendition of Caruso if you haven't already, it's such a beautiful song. Just make sure you read the subtitles, it's one of those songs where you kind of need to understand what's been said to appreciate it completely :J
Well, I've liked some country songs, but to me personally it just feels like a majority of the songs (at least the songs i've listened to) sound rather dated or old, in a way that music of similar age in different genres don't.
I don't have specific genres of korean/japanese songs that I enjoy, pretty much anything that sounds good well do. I have noticed that I tend to listen to songs with primarily female vocals though.
I've listened to a few songs from AKMU, didn't really have much of an opinion on them before though. Those songs are quite refreshing, the second song, 200% being especially great. I love the vibe in the video, seems like they had a lot of fun making it. What would you call this genre? I've listened to quite a few songs like this, but I can't really pinpoint a genre, let alone find more songs like it ;_;
Well, in my opinion the best xianixa novel is Renegade immortal. It's got a somewhat slow start, but aside from this it's pretty much binge read material.
Folk huh? I don't recall listen to many songs in this genre, at least, I can't name any. Rock is one of my most disliked genres, I've tried listening to a fair amount of songs in this genre, but I just couldn't catch the groove. I've been actively trying to find some more ballads after listening to some recently and in the past, but I just don't know where to go to find such.. Well, at least I think the songs I listened to were ballads, here they are (1, 2, 3, 4)
I listen to mostly anything that catches my interest, generally disregarding the genre, though i'm less inclined toward rock and country. In particular hip hop and korean/chinese/japanese ost songs dominate my playlists :J
Survival stories huh.. I haven't really read much if any at all with that genre as the main genre. Though, I have read a fantasy novel called The Way of Kings, which has a strong survival theme/element. What do you like about this genre?
I personally read mostly fantasy novels with an emphasis on a large scale. A novel like the aforementioned Way of Kings is a good example of this. Another genre i'm obsessed with is xianxia, a Chinese sub genre which is heavily inspired by taoism and buddhism and focuses cultivation toward immortality. It's basically like wuxia with more magical/spiritual elements and muuuch larger scale.
What kind of music do you like?
The heroine of 5-9 is a great actress and a beauty :p I've recently seen her performance in the film Mumom: land of stealth. Though she wasn't the primary protagonist, she had a pretty big role, and she did very well. Don't tell anyone, but I nearly shed a tear during one of her scenes in the film ;_;
'Fun' isn't a legitimate genre, but it's one that I use when talking about asian drama. In this category I would say that not many are as good as the Let's eat franchise. The series mostly entirely light-hearted goodness. If you're a foodie, it's a must watch for sure. If you're a fan romance, it should be pretty high up there on your 'romance to watch' list. If you're a fan of both food and romance.. I think you understand where i'm going with this xD
Oh yeah? What kind of books have you read/do you enjoy?
I looked Misaeng up and it seems good enough. It also has Lee Sung Min, big fan of that guy, especially in recent years. Bummer there's no romance though.. I mean, I do rarely watch dramas without romance, but I really enjoy the genre.
I believe I dropped 5 to 9, the male MC wasn't one that I was enjoying.
Oh hae young has been on my p2w since it aired, I've been saving it for the right time since I like the main actress, especially her performance in Let's eat 2. A love so beautiful was a pretty nice watch, up until the time-skip, where I felt the pacing suddenly sped up too fast.
Unrelated question : Do you read much?
