Hiroko is awesome. I like her already in this show. And of course, the episode felt a bit like an emotional roller-coaster again.

Really liked the way it established the gimmicks though like the 'heroes' part. Good to see Kousei on track again as well. I can't wait to see him perform in the future again and Hiroko could be quite a helping hand with that.

Meets a lady who is kind of like a big sister (she knows his mother). She also plays piano. He didn't advance as expected. He also saw competitors' happiness of advancing and sadness of not advancing.

So he has played all night until fallen asleep. To the next step. Wow @ that nice moment at night with fireflies. Though what violinist girl said at the end... bad flag?

Next ep. will be aired next January (2nd cour starts with new OP & ED!).

Pretty normal episode. Kousei did not advance but we already knew that. Kousei has more determination now. The fireflies scene was nice and I thought their relation advance a little further until what Kaori said at the end kinda shot down my expectation.

Pretty slow episode. I guess we got a lot more character development on Kousei with his "journey" and being a human like his friends. Really liking Seto. It seems like she's going to re-teach the piano to Kousei.

The foreshadowing is real. If Kaori having trouble going upstairs wasn't enough that final line is one hell of a death flag.

It was really something for Kousei to see the results and accept that part of him that didn't pass. I did like the emphasis on the ones who've failed on showed that even if a person tried really hard, it isn't a guaranteed pass.

His relation with Seto was nice to see. It was somewhat refreshing and most of all having an adult to rely on quite nice especially one like Seto xD

That was a pretty nice scenery and Kaori got Kousei to say it. His resolve being cemented! Sigh, I am going to cry a lot at the end.

I think slow =/= bad.
Slow episodes are always better than that full of superduperextra action.
It has emotions you know? The strong ones.
I loved it.
5/5 like always.

Lol, I was wondering why Kaori, Watari, and Tsubaki were shown facing sideways.

Gentler scenes from the past~

Those many disappointing reactions after the results were posted..

I'm still worried about Kaori :/

OMG, I thought Kaori jumped into the river.
But instead into a field with fireflies.

That OST played during those last scenes~
Simply perfect.

Slower episode, but man the foreshadowing was real this time. That scene with the fireflies near the end looked absolutely amazing.

Anyone know what the song playing in the end scenes is called?

Beautiful episode especially the ending :*)

Takeshi's realization that Arima's not a hero and he's just a normal human was nicely done.

Loving Seto so far. She seems to be quite eccentric ^^; Nice to see she'll become Kousei's guardian and probably teach him all over again :3 Koharu with her is just toooooo damn KAWAIII <3

I really need to see WTF happened for Kousei's mom to change from what we saw to THAT <_< Kininarimasu!

Should be interesting seeing their nxt performance! Can't wait :3

The last scene surrounded by the fireflies was my fav of the ep. So beautiful. Loved how Kousei told her he was leaning on her <3 And with that OST!
Her last words about not always being with him were sad :(

I FRIGGIN NEED THIS OST!!! TOO GOOD >.<!!

That ending scene:
Perfect setup, perfect execution, and all of the emotions you could ever ask for.

I'm actually really happy that they didn't kiss or anything - that would have been out of character for Friend A.
But man...I wanted it.

Was alright. I like the new character c:

They're really laying the death flags pretty thick, it's like they're trying to keep an air of mystery surrounding the mother but don't give a fuck about Kaori lol.

I can say it again a perfect adaptation from A-1 Pictures Studio!.. Just re-read the manga, some parts went missing but it's still a good one.
That "Hero" visuals was good. And it was just briefly showed from the manga. And it's a good demonstration of Takeshi's feelings.

Arima didn't made up the preliminaries and Takeshi and Emi was been disappointed.
Well It can't be helped because of the current situation of Kosei which is "he cannot hear the notes"
Even he give his best but It wasn't enough "because it was the current him as of now"
And Arima was really dissatisfied with the results but it's normal he was in a "journey" after all.

Arima was cute as a baby and he was been with Hiroko Seto since he was an infant.
So now Hiroko Seto will be the Guardian and Pianist Teacher of Kosei, Can't wait for their practice sessions!

That Inserted song was really good! And also the visuals of the fireflies was very beautiful!
And Kosei finally tells that what is the reason or who is he playing for is Kaori.
But Kaori said something "I wouldn't always be around to help you out" - Charlie Brown.
Although the next episode (maybe 2 more) would almost likely would pure drama, I still can't wait for the next episode next week!

This show just got worse for me... this episode clearly outlined that the creators are trying too hard to force emotion onto the viewer. The "feel for the main character" vibe they're trying to give off is just too contrived, so much so that it's ruining the show for me at this point.
In the End, was it worth it?

An average episode, as always I've already read the translated manga.
Arima obviously didn't make it, and their reaction (Takeshi and Emi) was expected.
It was kinda slow but they introduced Seto-san and her daughter. Hiroko Seto is an interesting character, she surely is going to help Arima, she's a bit harsh but still better than his mother.
Kaori as always is a bit forced, I don't really like her character at all. For me, it looks like she's using and treating him harshly, sometimes she tries to make up for it but she does the same thing over and over.
The inserted song was good though.
I'm learning English so maybe I make mistakes :)

This show is starting to pique my interest, the first 9 episodes were a bit slow or felt flat to me, but now that hes found his resolve it is getting better.

Glad to see the dark hair woman is aiding him.

At this point it's like she literally said ''I'm going to die soon'' instead of Charlie Brown's quote :< sigh, not sure if i will be able to withstand the feels.
Also, Hiroko is awesome.I will say this whenever i get chance to, but this show has some awesome female characters - Emi, Tsubaki, Kao and now Hiroko.

Very slow episode but enjoyable. Everyone can see a certain deathflag coming. On a lighter note its good to see Kousei have like a big sis to care for him well she did know his mom after all and she is a famous pianist in Japan so good for Armin.

At the end of this episode was the best moment between Kaori and Kousei that was really touching when he said "I had you" those feels are so real. 5/5

It's more that every scene has to be made to look like the most profound life changing and monumental thing ever in the anime even if it's just a low key matter of fact scene in the manga. Everything must be dressed up and run through some glossy filter with the most idealized background settings and visual cues to give people those "feels" they so treasure and seem to derive some sort of emotional drive from. IMO nothing is allowed to breathe and speak for itself and the true moments that matter are never allowed to shine cause absolutely everything is overwrought and overstylized. Just another example of Japan's tendency to overkill everything. If this were live action I can't even imagine how over the top and hysterical the acting would be either since a lot of the time it kind of feels that way already particularly with Kousei's seiyuu.

In any case this show easily maintains it's status as the most pretentious show of the season and that's with the likes of Fate UBW and Wixoss out there. Shigatsu just really goes that extra mile in being just that full of itself. As expected of A-1.

The analogies in the show are so great! The darker it is, the brighter the stars. Now the analogy with the firefly being weak but showing off brightness. Goodness.

I think I'm going to completely dry out my eyes by the end of the series if that last quote means what I'm thinking.
