Now I'm scared Mushi are going to crawl into my pillow and make my dreams reality........

Why does this anime remind me so much of Studio Ghibli movies?????

That was one sad episode.. I feel like it'd be best if I don't watch more episodes today if I want to process better this one and the ones before it.

I wonder what's the era Ginko lives in.

I like the idea about different ending each episode. I can't stand the OP tho.

I was surprised with the pillow. I really have no idea that it will be the nest. Probably because I did not read the title. Hehe..

But poor dude. So sad for him :(

Very interesting, loved the dream theme. Still, it was a sad story, I feel sorry for him.

Real serious downer in this episode, but it was fantastically done. I was glued to the screen throughout. This is gonna be a show that keeps me up really, really late tonight as I cram in as many eps as possible.

Definetely my favourite episode thus far..
Can see a resemblance with xxxHolic, but on an entirely different level.
All though I am missing a main storyline that progresses throughout the episodes instead of a different story/mysterie within each episode. But if it wasn't for that this show would deserve a ''10'' thus far. But sence and hope that might appear later in the series.

poor guy lost eveything, think Ginko was silly to not tell him in the first place as well as leaving it a year to help him out again knowing there is the possibility of death/disaster appearing in the guys dream. Hence why he said neither the man or mushi is to blame.

Sad indeed.
But finally he said it. Mushis are neither bad, nor good creatures. They're just living their lives.

It's a rather nice outlook on life, makes me feel terrible for killing spiders in my house. Everything in nature is neutral (except for humans lol), doing what's necessary for them to survive. This was a rather dark episode, I didn't expect everyone in his village to turn into mold like that. Despite the sadness, I still find this strangely calm and relaxing.

wow this is the first sad episode I saw. All the other ones had a happy conclusion. I dont blame the man for killing himself he lost everything he held dear and add that with the weight of he felt like it was all his doing then yea you got a pretty bad mind mess there. Also it was pretty messed up when he saw his family again. I almost cried when he did since that would be my exact reaction. Im suppose to be the father and husband and protect you but in the end I let you all down.

I must say the first episode was a bit bumpy but as of now im really liking this anime.

Good episode not as good as the last imo but still good. Thought the guy had a lot of courage to wait until Ginko came before ending it. Loving the way Ginko speaks as if he has been there done that and seen the worst of the worst, it makes him an intriguing character.

Good to see not everyone has a happy ending, makes the show even more interesting than it already is.

man...it was fucking devastating. The guy lost everything and everyone he knew and loved, and worse, a part of him blamed himself for it. Damn. Thats some seriously screwed up shit.
"...our faces marked by toil, by deceptions, by success, by love; our weary eyes looking still, looking always, looking anxiously for something out of life, that while it is expected is already gone – has passed unseen, in a sigh, in a flash – together with the youth, with the strength, with the romance of illusions.” - Joseph Conrad ('Youth')

I'm assuming the guy eventually committed suicide because sleeping now meant that he can never dream again. Hence, he couldn't meet his family in the dream world....that was sad. I feel bad for that guy.

Wow. Great episode.
It's an episodic show I guess. I hope the originality level of the types of Mushishi will be high like so far.

StabbyPWNS said:

So.... there really wasn't a cure for those kinds of Mushi?

Ye, and that was great about this ep. Otherwise the show would be too predictable : Mushi appear>Ginko comes to investigate>Ginko finds a way to heal the person>the end. Now I have high hopes for the rest of episdoes.

Hmm... probably. But I wonder if Jin knew that he could no longer dream.

Jin had suicidal inclinations earlier, and that was because he had lost his family and his village, and he blamed himself as the cause. It seems like the guilt ate away at him... combined with the fear of sleeping (losing his soul).

Ginko's role in this episode feels slightly different than the previous ones. Previously he was the mushi master, knowledgeable and having the solution to every problem. Here we see the limits of his abilities... I'd like to say he played the (unfortunate) role of the observer, seeing as how many of these events would have happened without Ginko's involvement... but despite his good intentions, his failure to inform Jin of the true nature of the mushi was partially the cause of the episodes outcome. Well, he is only human after all...

It's very tragic, and it feels weird to see Ginko just carry on. I have to wonder if he has experienced tragedies like this before.

Whoa... what a harrowing episode. This was UNGODLY depressing. Wow, the previous episodes always had a melancholic touch about them, but dang. I guess it was necessary to show just how devastating mushi can be... and what happens to those who don't follow Ginko's instructions on keeping them at bay.
