I knew as soon as the poet was given 19 days that he'd be the guy that wrote the book. And wow. just by believing in a prophecy that was nothing more than a depressed rambling, they effectively caused it to come true by destroying another's world.

That was such a good episode. I loved that plot twist with story 1 and story 3 being linked. Well done. Wish there were more anime like this nowadays.

This episode contained a lot of interesting concepts. The world is coming to and end but what the source of this prophecy. Who wrote it? And what is truth? The story of the poet was beautiful but tragic though.

Chills bro

Nice prophetic bs that throws an apocalpyse to the countries.

Also lol traditions.

That singing girl was too spooky

Without change,we end up becoming the very person we hate.

I was dead until the moment I met you. I was a powerless corpse pretending to be alive. Living without power, without the ability to change my course, was bound to lead me to a slow death.

Didn't expect the truth about the prophecy to be revealed in the end, but it's been quite the interesting twist of a self-fulfilling prophecy. Except that it was for the country where the book was from and "the world" refers only to the specific part

Quite the impressive message about how hate begets hate

The middle story was also quite amusing with the country creating traditions for the sake of having traditions, but not noticing themselves that by doing so, they already have their traditions. Though it makes me wonder what their original traditions were before they ousted their former king to the forest

This episode was a "compiled" of small episodes.
First it was an episode that shows the kind of people who are apocalyptic, who always predict the end of the world that never comes, we had the millennium bug 2000, we had 2012, etc, if we research we will see that several people predicted dates for the end in the world, it seriously has many dates in the past and in the future.
The second was something that happens even today, which is that people banish/problematize their traditions and, seeing themselves as empty without traditions, they desperately try to create new ones, but they are all false traditions that do not fill the true ones, this is the bad secular nowadays.

I think the third has to do with people, they have what they want, they always yearn for evils so the evils come back to them, in this case it is sadness, condemning everyone.
I don't think this episode has anything to do with religion itself, but with people, even those who call themselves atheists have their own religion, which are much worse than any religion, and if you look at what global warming would be outside a end of the world conspiracy!?
This episode just shows that people who don't have the truth as their north will be deceived by pseudo-truths

PT-BR

I liked this episode, and although I do not know exactly how to decipher It, I think it goes something like this: The poem that was written by someone a long time ago is followed like a fact, and when something doesn't go as the prophecy says people go crazy even though the prophecy is leading to something negative (the end of the world). I think the main key to figuring this out is looking at the town that has a tradition of coming up with traditions is there to make us think about how little sense a tradition actually makes when something someone said a long time ago can be perceived as fact, and become destiny not because what was written was true but because it is viewed as such, people will try to find a way for it to become true as we see at the end of the episode. Also, Kino saying to Hermes to ask the stars is clever because we never know if all this was destiny all along.

The end of the episode was a cruel farce. They teased us about the "prophecy", which were just words of a secular poet. Yet, through their own conviction, they realized the "prophecy" themselves.

This is why treating clergies as statesmen is a bad idea, kids.

Kino got to practically loot the town because of the citizens just giving everything away in resignation over the "world ending", and managed to bail when they started having second thoughts the next day. Talk about lucky circumstances.
