I love how the OP plays every time the mechas transform. When it cut to Yomogi in the cockpit, it sounded like the music was playing from outside, which gave me the hilarious image of a mecha blaring a theme song at like 150dB.

I'm just nowhere into this show like I was with Gridman. Sure, the real decent stuff in Gridman happened in the 2nd half of the airing, but even then, that show had me somewhat interested still in the 1st half unlike this one. Compared to my high school self when seeing Gridman, I'm long into university now and grew up from thick thighs horniness too so this anime is just leaving me feeling indifferent lol.

I'm finding much the same, so far I'm just not really seeing anything to really get myself hooked, other than the "Woah cool robots" angle. I'd hoped Dynazenon wouldn't just be 'Gridman but again' but so far I'm just not seeing *any* of the elements that I loved in Gridman here. It's all been weirdly conventional so far.

I liked it, however they really need to step it up with Yomogi and Yume. Yume feels like she's supposed to act this way due to some past stuff so I can let her slide, but Yomogi feels a bit too indifferent to everything. I'd understand being shocked and surprised enough that you become speechless or indifferent, but he's never given that kind of energy, he feels genuinely like cardboard. It feels so unnatural that Yomogi knew people's lives were at risk, but still didn't show up to training and then has the audacity to say "I dragged everyone down..." at the end as if he shouldn't have known that was going to happen. His delivery is very flat too. He's like if Yuuta from SSSS.Gridman was doing an impression of Katsuhira from Kiznaiver.

Gauma and the two others are great though. Despite me bitching about Yume and Yomogi (mostly Yomogi I guess) I still like this show and know that based on my experience with SSSS.Gridman, I'm most likely going to enjoy this series.

Even from the get-go it already has a pretty decent set of characters..
For the first time, i'm liking the overenergetic Gauma, the mysterious (notthicctho) beauty heroine and not-so-dense MC..
also the THICC has arrived! as a form of evil huh.. was generally thinking that it would be sem as previous one's but these are different this time..

the director sure has a thing for bland MCs lol, but I still prefer him to Yuuta so far which was a plot device for most of the show, at least there's some implied conflict with Yomogi and more character background regarding his family matters, such as parents divorce (?), ill grandma and wanting independence.

Everybody here talking about thighs... but can we talk about how this was the Funniest Episode of the whole year?

No, seriously. I find this hilarious, in a good way.

I feel like The characters are better developed here than they were in Gridman, but there are a few reasons why I think that's obvious. In Gridman we had to have Yuuta being the audience surrogate, as strange things happened in that world, and everybody seemed to not notice, yet Yuuta was like "Are Kiju's coming out and destroying the city a normal occurrence?". But Yuuta was more of a plot device than a character, and yet, I knew these writers could make a compelling character because Akane is one of the best-written Villians I've seen.

And here we are. I feel like you don't really need to watch Gridman to understand this, but here you don't have that audience surrogate, and yet people seem to just be living their normal lives while Kaijus appear and wreak havoc everywhere. I love how in the first episode things start floating in the news, and there doesn't seem to be much fuss about it anywhere else.

This show, and this franchise, understands how Utterly Silly the Tokusatsu genre is. It Revels in that silliness, and at the same time, it understands how people act normally. This gives birth to a show like no other, where strange things happen, and people don't react with a "we're all going to die" but with a "sorry, I have work", and it's INCREDIBLY REFRESHING. I mean, we're in the middle of the frikin End of the World right now in 2021, so don't you tell me people don't actually act like that.

It also has really naturalistic dialogue. Many times when there are more than two characters talking, there will be several conversations happening at once, which might seem confusing, but it gives a sense of "real-lifeness" that few things possess. And of course, then there are the robot fights filled with phrases such as "SO THIS IS DYNAZENON'S TRUE POWER" and all the other silly phrases that come with those types of fights, while also having what seem like natural reactions from the more realistic characters, like Yomogi Freaking out when he's inside the robot and this one starts transforming, lol.

So yeah. it mixes those two things very well. And the result tends to be one of the most hilarious things I've seen in anime. But that's just how I react to it

I gotta admit I had a good chuckle with the whole Gauma and Yomogi scene, that was hilarious. Especially that transition between "I hate to intrude" to Gauma out cold as a corpse. Good episode to help cool down the tone a bit.

But I'll admit I'm still unsure if its really catching me, since I finished Gridman in preparation. Time will tell tho

I don't know why but looks like this is the same universe with SSS grind man, because some dialogue kinda hint that or forshadowing it tho.

I hope major plot twist with the controlled kaiju.

Because some kaiju are humanoid.

Minami and Yomogi have interesting character development and I like their interaction, especially that Dyna Soldier Wing Combine lol.

Yamanaka Koyomi doesn't really has any special thing right now but I kinda curious with Chise, actually who is she? Maybe the main villain like Akane in SSSS Gridman? Well that's just my thought, I could be wrong tho.

the progression of the episode felt jumpy. Kuudere girl and blue hair boy soared through the skies, above the clouds, at high speed, to go from one place to another - reachable by train - within the same city/district?

that sort of cut is a pretty common stylistic choice, which you would know you if you ventured outside of anime for once in your life lol
I thought it was just expecting us to apply the rule of cool and be done with it, but apparently it was deeper, there was a stylistic choice in the cuts there. Though I wasn't talking about the shot transitions in that sentence, but rather questioning the rule of cool, I guess my sentence string was also a common stylistic choice.

Could you please enlighten me about the stylistic choice in the standard cuts of that segment?

Pretty good episode! I am really liking the characters more than Gridman, not that Yuuta and the squad weren't good, in fact they were. But this new set of characters is even better especially Gauma, he's pretty entertaining.

I like that there's no memory erasing shenanigans this time. I wonder who is the "that" that Gauma is referring to, I am guessing it's Gridman? Or one of the hyper agents probably. What's the Kaiju Eugenicists goals though hmm.

It wouldn't be the Gridman Universe without t h i c c thighs. OP was pretty good too. Looking forward to the next episode.

This is a show about 3 high school children who have no interest in piloting giant robots?
One of them finds their super high tech sumaho more interesting? Another had such a hard life that he'd rather watch it as an anime. His cousin is the hottest in town and this makes him depressed somehow.
The main character would rather work some shitty dead-end baito instead? To appear more adult or what? fucking cringe but I guess you can kind of symphatize seeing as the guy looks fresh out of kindergarten

This show has two proper cute teen anime honies, and these idiots are only talking about some "thicc" (fat) roastie who shows up for two seconds. Hell, the main girl had bath shots this episode. Embarrassingly bad taste. What the hell is happening anime culture?

I was okay for first ep but this... Idk like honestly I hated the part where Minami casually said her sister died but then when all them kaiju users fought in the middle of city like it was not a big deal. Lots of people still in the building that has fallen by their fight! Also her saying "we protected it" at the end of battle (*_∇_)

And how the heck did Gauma know where Yomogi's house. I have been long to say this why didn't they question Gauma for having such clothes (doesnt suit his personality) and the toys. Even the citizen are ignorants how serious for kaiju destroying the city and the interaction between the main characters are bland like nothing happened. This anime has the visual and animation I give that. The rest... Disappointing.

Great episode and great opening. Another goosebumping OP from SSSS series, and a chilling ending also. In this episode we had the first battls after the training, and they're handling it pretty well. Yomugi has a natural ability. Gauma is my favourite character already, he's honest and funny. Let's see if this anime will keep the rythm like Gridman. I'm betting on it.

Honestly I really like how in this show the city doesn't just magically repair itself like in Gridman, I think it adds a little bit more depth to the show when you know there are consequences for the characters actions. Also watching that OP gave me goosebumps, but I don't think it tops 'Union.'

Really great episode, and the opening is awesome too! The ending is really nice too; definitely doesn't touch youthful beautiful from Gridman but still very enjoyable in its own right :)

I like the combination aspect of the new Dynazenon robot; I think the added dynamic of working as a team makes the show much more interesting in a way that wasn't present in Gridman. The new characters all seem very interesting too, with Gauma and Yomogi being the highlights for me. And on the topic of Gauma, I wonder what his affiliation with the kaiju people are; he for sure seems to know them.

Gouma really is stealing the show for me! and we got the d u m m y t h i c c character appeared!

I like how when it shows Yomogi's cockpit, the music goes suppressed like there's loud music outside Dynazenon playing.

wtf is it only me or the citizen is way too chill about everything that happened. like they don't even care if there's a kaiju blasting half of the city.

As always great episode and fight.

Compared to episode 1 with nothing to show but it burning its budget,

This episode is more toned down on the CGI and the fight scenes but at least the story is going somewhere, anywhere.

Still, it is already episode 2 and I feel that only the most ardent of SSSS or sentai etc. fans would be able to appreciate this. Honestly, I personally felt so much cringe watching this I wanted to go hide in a hole.

The best part of this anime is definitely the art though, it is pretty eye candy if I watch it without thinking too much, but not inspiring either.

The storyboard might be over-ambitious with their story telling and over-estimated the average watcher's attention span. Unlike Gridman, which was easy to get into in the first episode, I do not particularly feel that I need to continue watching this.

The fate of the whole series may as well rest on the 3rd episode where most people will decide to continue or drop this.

I actually really liked this episode. I'm enjoying the characters so far, the comedy was on point, and I loved how it showed Yume and Yomogi reflecting on the damage caused by the fight. I kinda wish they expanded upon that a bit, but it was still good.

My only complaint so far is that Dynazenon's main form has gotten wrecked immediately in both battles so far. I wish they had at least given it one win before introducing form changes.

We all need bros like Gauma. He told Yomogi that the Minami broke her promise, came over to talk a bath with him, ate dinner, and slept over to make sure that he was alright afterwards. Also if I'm being honest Dynazenon Wing Soldier looks cooler than Dynazenon when all four of them are combined and transform into Dynazenon Rex.

So it was indeed right that Yume's sibling (her sister) died, that's sad.
The mecha fight was pretty good, but I laughed when they threw the transformers car on the ennemy's mecha.
And it also seems like there is a criminal organization between the apparition of the enemy mecha

Just realized that everyone in this series is waaaay too fucking blase about the Kaijus. I mean Gridman got away with it because everything was reset and everyone's memory was wiped after each battle.

But this seems to be set in a "real" world as in the consequences of our MC's actions have very real and direct implications for their lives. I don't understand how they are not freaking out more about all of this.

Gauma is such a bro. He really wants Minami to apologize to Yomogi and he even went to his house and got into his bath without giving a shit. Todou would be proud lol.

I love their behaviour and the way they talk. Feels pretty realistic and not too over the top. And that was a cute sneeze!.

I love that interaction between Minami and Yomogi and the resulting character development from both, I'm interested in seeing their developing relationship.

Gauma is a hell of a stalker. Didn't think he'd go as far as to follow Komori into the bathtub, of all things.

Wonder if Yomogi will start showing up for training now. He was oddly fervent about "protecting the world" all of a sudden when fighting the kaiju, but that might've been a heat of the moment claim.
