Both series have well animated action and star two female leads with opposite personalities who grow with and because of the other. In both cases, the leads are involved in an organization/study that is considered private in their societies. Where Lycoris Recoil focuses more on the building of trust and friendship, The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady focuses more on the romantic undertones between the two leads. There's enough of a through line, in my eyes, for someone that enjoys one approach to appreciate the other as well!

Young orphaned girls with no normal future awaiting them ✔, taken in and trained by the government to work as incognito gun slinging assassins ✔, employed under secret government agencies to do the dirty work of eliminating criminals and terrorists ✔. Anybody looking for such a rare and specific premise like this will be served well by watching these two titles. When it comes to girls with guns, GSG is a more serious classic set in Italy, while LycoReco is a more light-hearted 21st Century take set in Japan. Girls with guns. Action. Competent gunplay. Need I say more?

Both star high school girls who work undercover for some sort of organization. Both are action-based.

Great waifus and yuri interactions with the main characters being somewhat part of an organization that eliminates terrorists, but difference is it's setting is more during fantasy medieval era along with magic instead of guns.

- Action thriller with a cast of members of a special task force - Society at large is lied to in some way - An antagonist who is set out to sabotage the peace and quiet of everyday life - Lycoris Recoil is brighter in animation and its set up, while Psycho-Pass is darker and have heavier subjects

- Teenagers wielding firearms and other sort of dangerous weaponry - Main characters become partners/duos - The Duos are highly skilled - The Duos spend their days completing missions - Characters are trained to serve and project Japan in a "secret" organization - Kinji and Takina have black hair and are usually the serious one in their respective duo - Aria and Chisato are seen as highly capable and skilled in their field - Characters are usually in a school uniform - Comedy and Action being the main genres of these animes

Both Lycoris Recoil and Akiba Maid Sensou are shows that have primarily female casts, working jobs that are basically covers for their darker and more covert activities. In terms of marketing, both really did well in hiding what their true premise was about until their respective air dates.

Fantastic gun action from female protagonist and rival on the opposite force; set against a government conspiracy with a GL storyline on the side.

Cute girls with weapons contributing to the society for the first ~9 episodes. Towards the end, they have to confront their own dystopian threat.

We're really subtracting the mecha and the cyberpunk setting, since Lycoris Recoil is set in near-future Japan but it's quite similar in terms of the tech-focused main problem, and definitely the blue and red-themed young girls paired up for the rest of the series, where one is cheerful and another one is rather apathetic (but may or may not care more than she shows). Both are original animes done by big studios as well.

When I watched Lycoris Recoil, I felt the same as when I watched Takt. Op Destiny. I think it's because Destiny/Cosette is such a mix of Takina and Chisato *maaaybe Takt is more like Takina xD* :333 Chisato and Destiny even look alike - blonde hair and red clothes~ and both fight very well. In both anime, the "good persons" are actually evil and the main characters have to defeat them. In both series, we have a thread about the main character being close to death.

If you liked Spy x Family u would like Lycoris Recoil. It gives the same vibes and the two are great animes. So i recommend giving a try to Lycoris Recoil, Im sure u would like it.

In my opinion, Lycoris Recoil unintentionally became what YLIA (Your Lie in April) tries to be. YLIA tries hard to make you feel for the characters but it comes off as forced, and in the end the payoff falls flat (for some viewers). Lycoris Recoil main story is not very interesting, but the character chemistry between the main pair was the best part of the show, and the quiet girl eventually wins your sympathy as it becomes evident she develops a crush on the lively and energetic girl. If you ignore the last episode it will feel like a YLIA type story but more genuine. If you  read more

Both shows take place in a fictional autocratic Japan that feels Japanese. Major characters of both shows are cogs to the machine that maintain their state. The state is much bigger than any individual character. It is interesting to see how both shows tackle this "darker" Japan and what it does to the characters.

Very similar except Lycoris recoil has a good ending for the MC. Both are very action based. Both MC's fight for a cause which then becomes a person.

The main thing that is similar in both these anime is buildup both anime create a good buildup in 3 to 4 episodes but after that u will become bore see things again and again.

If you loved the dynamic of Takina and Chisato in Lycoris Recoil, that's not the only show where 2 unlikely girls become best friends. Both Lycoris Recoil and Kill Me Baby have 2 main characters and both pairs happen to be a no-nonsense high school assassin and the goofy yet lovable girl who befriends her and tries to convince her that killing is not the way to go. If you're not seeing the similarities yet, then I would definitely give both shows a watch, I bet you'll be pleasantly surprised. Now of course, Kill Me Baby and Lycoris Recoil are two different shows, the former  read more

A blond and goofy red-jacket-wearing pacifist gun-fighting bullet-dodging haunted-by-their-past protagonist engages in epic action scenes while being followed around by their newly found dark haired sidekick who is eager to learn what the fuck the main character's deal is. Just an adrenaline pumping blast to watch.

The semblance of life of our protagonists that develops as their relationship progresses in parallel with the plot is really a huge positive point. The personalities of our heroes are diametrically opposed which opens up various points of view. The animation is also superb with secondary characters that perfectly boost the anime, regarding the antagonist what I find very subjective this subject is very particular for the two works without knowing too much who is considered as "the enemy", the soundtrack is much more striking on Lycoris Recoil in my opinion but Wonder Egg priority does not demerit in anything with its originality.

Both are original anime that focuses on the story revolve a "girl" whom got "modified" trying to fulfill their purposes. Packed with action and also humor this two really fun to watch.

In both, a secret organization uses cute 16-year-old girls to fight criminals and terrorists
report Recommended by Szafot
Both series include a heavy dose of girls with guns action and a cast of wild and crazy characters. Sabage-bu! is more an overt comedy, whereas Lycoris Recoil is more of a light action show. Neither is as serious as some of the classic GWG shows such as Noir and Gunslinger Girl.

Girls are military personnel who go into combat. Mix of action and slice of life. Story starts with a girl transferring in.
report Recommended by UvovSimon
Both series focus on teenagers who work as part of governmental organizations to protect the public safety of Japan, include many action scenes, and have a protagonist with a somewhat eccentric personality that hides a deep emotional core. Lycoris Recoil is in the girls with guns genre; Chainsaw Man in horror action.

One could call Lycoris a throwback or homage to the old guns and girls Anime of the early 2000 and the prime example (that I still have some fond memories of) would be Noir. Both have two main girls that work as assassins for a secret organization, are way too good at their job, and have some rule of cool action with some quality character interaction in between. Noir shines more in the atmosphere it creates and the variety of places it depicts, while Lycoris is focused on Tokyo alone but shows a much higher quality when it comes to animation and art. Noir is more experimental with  read more

I can already imagine people saying that Im comparing a thrilling action anime, Lycoris Recoil with a soothing experience anime, Shiroi Suna no Aquatope. There are not a lot of similarities I can say, yes i know that, other than the yuri moments since almost every scene is a yuri moment i would say on both animes i watch. Sometimes Kukuru really protects Fuuka and the other way around. Same goes with Chisato when protecting Takina and vice versa. These two pairs always get the adventure together as buddies or pals. They also work together and they have such certain conditions they are having to deal against. They sometimes  read more

Although the base genres of the two anime are clearly different, the slice-of-life parts, the setting of the place (both Hoshimi Production and Lycoris Recoil Cafe), and the character compositions have obvious similarities. Not much different between Nagase Kotono and Takina, and Kawasaki Sakura and Chisato (especially after episode 5); Sakura and Chisato both have specials, while Kotono and Takina both have "dark and unlucky pasts"; In addition, Sakura and Chisato are described as cheerful people with high "emotional intelligence" tendencies and idealistic people, while Kotono and Takina have a tendency to be realistic and tend to be melancholic. The atmosphere in Hoshimi Production and  read more
