ef: A Tale of Melodies.

Tasogare is pretty much a rip-off of ef melodies. If you enjoyed the concept in Tasogare but found the ending to be rather 'cheesy', then you may find ef melodies to be your cup of tea.  

Tasogare Otome x Amnesia is the biggest rip-off I've seen any anime pull off, quite successfully as well. The director for both franchise is the same, and he didn't change a single thing about the two besides removing one arc from Ef a tale of melodies, and changing the characters' functions in the plot around a bit. Romance in Tasogare is weakly structured due to its lack of originality in trying to mimick Ef a tale of melodies' route too much, especially the ending. Tasogare aired after the Ef series so it's obvious who copied who. A show solely for comedic purposes is tasogare; and for any actually heart-striking plot Ef a tale of melodies is the better of the two. Generally speaking, the Ef series achieves better than most romance tales, and I highly recommend it over rip-off series like Tasogare. Also, the background in both anime is highly comparable in its visuals and purposes. read more 

- Both are touching romance stories that can make you cry - Both envolve the supernatural - Both anime have very similar beautiful art - Both heroines envolved in a similar story and in both anime the main character is trying to help the heroine and ends up falling in love with her - Both heroines are long black-haired girls named Yuuko, and they both often stand on a school rooftop flying paper planes 

It will be spoilerish to say why, but ef has a similar romantic concept. However, while Tasogare Otome X Amnesia takes on a lighthearted tone quite often, ef- a tale of melodies is way more serious and psychological. PS; Watching ef- a tale of memodies will help you enjoy ef- a tale of melories more. 

Both have hard hitting drama and lovely tales of romance. Just like After Story, Tale of Melodies isn't for the light of heart. It's not a light and fluffy rom-com. It will make you cry. That being said, both series are excellent. The story lines are incredible and definitely make you want to keep watching. Really great animes that have a very similar feel. 

Plots are different, but there's drama and supernatural mystery involved on both. I loved them and cried on the few last episodes. 

the sequel of ef: a tale of memories completes the story of the two cities and fascinates again with a real sad but still satisfying story, awesome artwork and good characters 

Anime based on a romance, with a very original story and with a touch of drama 

There's a mysterious girl with a shocking secret in both shows,also there's a lot of drama and romance involved. 

These two shows share a common sense of feeling to it. In both shows, the main character is someone who is trying to help a someone whom they come to love. both endings leave you speechless 

They both have very impactful endings. 

ef is SHAFT's answer to KyoAnis Clannad. Both are based off of popular visual novels and both have the same type of story, based on the problems the shows heroines are facing and how the protagonist helps each girl in her struggles to better improve ther life and conquer their fears. 

Second season of of ef another good melodrama story. if u have not seen it and likes clannad. Give it a chance 

In both stories there is a talented painter that cannot paint cause of a painful experience.Futhermore both animes are Drama-Romance type.Although, Ef is a much better anime overall. 

While the theming and setting are very different between Romeo x Juliet and ef: A Tale of Melodies, the two are very similar in the areas that matter the most in both of these anime; their love stories are exceptionally well done and tragic. With that in mind, it's important to understand that Melodies tells two love stories at once. One of Kuze, a slowly dying man who prefers to keep his friends and loved ones at bay, contradictory to his self-proclaimed title as a ladies man. However, this policy of emotional isolationism is challenged when Mizuki, a lively and carefree girl falls in love with him. The other is the story of Yuu, a young man in high school who meets a girl named Yuuko, who seems to know him. Eventually remembering her as a girl who asked him to be her brother at the orphanage he lived in as a child, he is forced to confront the memories of losing his beloved sister, whom he was very close to, in an earthquake. So right off the bat, I'll let it be known that Yuu's story is much more similar to the romance in Romeo x Juliet in many ways. The loss of Yuu's loved ones in the earthquake sets a similar stage as RxJ's fall of the house of Capulet, Yuuko's gaurdian plays the role of the villain exceptionally, so much so that I'd say he surpasses Prince Montague in his evil, and there are quite a few more reasons they're alike, however going into them would be impossible without giving up spoilers. That's not to say Kuze's story isn't good. Kuze's impending death is quite tragic in it's own right, especially as you get to know his character and his past. Unfortunately though, that's really the only area it resembles RxJ's story in any way; whereas the latter is a story about Romeo and Juliet seeking to live happily in love against the unfortunate circumstances of their relationship, most of Kuze's story is spent showing his frustration and pain as the emotions he feels for Mizuki battle against his desire to keep her away in order to save her from the pain she'd undoubtedly feel when he dies. Either way, just like RxJ, there are more than a few tear-jerking moments as well as those that will bring a smile to your face. Keep in mind though, Melodies is not a fantasy story like RxJ. Primarily it's a romance, however it does have a sprinkling of mystery, supernatural, and slice of life elements as well. read more
