I haven't updated that list for a while except added the newest series that made to the list, when I feel like it I could reconstruct it. Don't worry, FMAB will most certainly always stay on my top 50 x)
What my short message meant was that "please don't rate it's sequel 1/10 out of a whim" Or "why have you rated the 4th season while having the 1st one in progress".
I know that gintama has a lot of random episodes and in terms of the flow of the story FMA beats the shit out of Gintama. I still prefer Gintama.
-it has much more fitting humour to my taste
-I like the characters (Gintoki, Kagura, Katsura, Hijikata) way better as a main cast than (Edward, Al, Roy, Winry and the others).
-I love the samurai setting (sword fighting) over super powers. (Though super powers are the second coolest thing probably)
The balance between comedy and drama isn't quite as you think. Gintama uses various methods to produce it's humour (drama, satire humour, parody etc).
Your fourth point couldn't be more wrong. If you truly have finished the 4th season (which you rated 1/10) you would know that your statement is false (I mean that Gintoki does very well remember what he has done in the past, way before the 1st ep of Gintama) and this is implemented in the early episodes of the 4th season as well as the last few.
Finally I would like to adress "even if you u made 12 good eps anime its still better than a long running series whose more than half eps have no meaning"
-You can't objectively compare a short, well presented story (12 eps long great story, for example) to a show, which idea does not revolve around a story, but more on episodic entertainment. Much like Slice of Life genre which are not made to express a great story particularly but rather give you a lighthearted short experience.
Gintama is made to give you short comedic stories and as a bonus, from time to time, give you a possibly drastically important arc about something (much like in last/latest season). Thus your "more than half eps have no meaning" -statement is invalid.
If you look Gintama that way, none of it's episodes (outside of the little longer arcs) have no meaning. But this is not how Gintama should be perceived. You shouldn't compare a diffferently meant to be seen -show to the regular story-centric shows.
That is the reason I said that Gintama is for me better, since I enjoy it more. I completely understand what you are trying to say and I am in no means trashing a great show like FMA, just wanted to see these few thing clear, thanks. :')
