Jaku-Chara Tomozaki-kun

If you enjoyed the "gamer culture"-oriented references/dialogue of either Gamers! or Jaku-Chara, you'll probably enjoy the other. Our gamer MCs are not particularly happy with their station in life: their starting "stats" are, at least in their mind, woefully ineffectual. The MCs use their love of gaming to help contextualize and explain life, though Jaku-Chara's Tomozaki takes the idea to more of an extreme (this lessens a bit after the very on-the-nose dialogue of the first episode). Expect frequent references to gaming culture thanks to these very gaming-oriented MCs, as well as some scenes of straight-up gameplay. However, despite their appearances, both series are ultimately not about gaming, but about insecure and self-conscious individuals who are given a lucky opportunity to become more functional, sociable people when a socialite-by-day-and-gamer-by-night encounters them. The two series are at least partly comedy of errors, though that's more of a core of Gamers! and more of a partial description for Jaku-Chara. People have called Gamers! "Misunderstandings: The Anime" because of how much it is driven by misunderstandings, and I can definitely attest to that. Jaku-Chara's comedy is mostly driven by the awkwardness of the MC—and he really does behave/speak sometimes like he was exposed to sunlight for the first time, at least initially. You'll find a focus on a core of characters that give our struggling MC the necessary interactions to help them more become more personable people, though the focusing lens is a bit different. Gamers! mostly follows a love... polygon? network? Jackson Pollock painting? including the recluse + socialite gamer pair, while Jaku-chara mostly follows the recluse + socialite gamer pair with a somewhat more peripheral surrounding cast as the MC attempts to succeed at the game of life, though a few of these members get some focused arcs. One important distinction is that Gamers! is more slice-of-life, while Jaku-Chara has a more clearer direction, so keep that in mind. Because of that, Gamers! has more of a bouncy and carefree mood compared to Jaku-Chara, where the deeper themes about truthful and deceitful social interactions are evoked more clearly and more seriously. If you liked Jaku-Chara, check out Gamers! for more ditzy, somewhat gaming-oriented comedic exploits. If you liked Gamers!, check out Jaku-Chara for an occasionally comedic, but more importantly, a more focused and serious take on a gamer discovering the joys of life, with complementary deconstructions of social interaction. Both have similarities with the whole aspect of gaming, romance and just regular high school life. Tomozaki-Kun does everything you hoped from Gamers, except the romance part. Gamers is more romance based compared to Tomozaki-Kun which is more based on character development and the relationships with the mc and his friend group. Can some of the dialogue in Tomozaki-Kun be "cringe" with the constant gaming references? Yes, but that's part of what makes the show what it is tbh. Many dropped Tomozaki-Kun after the first episode during a stacked Winter season because the mc was "cringe" but it picks up after that and its definitely worth giving a shot. Tomozaki-Kun also has some of the best mc development i've seen for a 12 episode show, hoping for a season two! read more 

The show feels similar both have a female lead with a gaming theme. 

They are both fairly short slice of life shows in which an antisocial gamer boy and a popular girl, who just so happens to secretly enjoy video games, get closer and fall in love. They also both contain quite a lot of generic high school shenanigans that are over-dramatized for the sake of plot. If you enjoyed one of these shows, you'll surely enjoy the other as they're basically the same thing in a different font. 

Both deal with video games, school life, and how the mc will deal with the people around them. Plus, both shows are really epic to watch and full of fun adventures!! 

Both are romance series that involves game, it's not focused into the the main characters, but side characters are also given some attention 

- Both have a plot related with games; - Both are rom-com. - Both main-character have their relationship with other characters expanded because the games;  

Both animes about gaming with a bit of romance. 

Both are about gamers set in high school, same type of story but with a different execution. 

A Series on slice of life, comedy and about video games in particular. If you love playing video games and want to watch anime related to it...then, I recommend this series...  

These two have a same concept, MC character development or should I say more on their development to becoming a "normie." A definite recommendation if you enjoy Tomozaki! There is just little differences on the story approach specially when it comes to characters' romance and love interests. But Gamers! is enjoyable in this aspect because it'll give you good laugh on how messed up their imaginations and hunches LOL. 

Both animes have protagonists approaching life from this fictional gamers' POV. Both of them deal with high-school relationships. And both of them are absolutely hilarious too, altho Tomozaki is a bit more serious. Basically if you want the serious thing, then don't watch Gamers, otherwise, it's an absolute must-watch. 

Both animes are about a social outcast dude who slowly starts to assimilate himself into normie society, while meeting plenty of waifus along the way <3 

Similar themes on society, high school, main character is an anti social nerd that doesnt like people. Eventually opens up to some people. And not just any people. But gurls. The main difference is that Hikky is a good protagonist. So far Jaku-Chara Tomozaki-kun is turning out to be a less enjoyable version of Oregairu. 

Being a social outcast in life, for the two, Hachiman and Tomozaki, gave them a reason to grow into the "strange", "odd", "weird" people you get in life. The two MCs grow into someone who excels in categories none dwell in without thoroughly studying, gaming and social constructs respectively. Giving them their identity that is similar to "that one loser". Both Bottom-Tier and Oregairu go a step forward however with allowing MCs to interact with the people of their surroundings. Oregairu does this with Hachiman Volunteer Service Club, he's still cynical though, Bottom-tier does this with Tomozaki increasing his sociability as if it were a game. Both are good anime with MCs that can hit close to home for a few selected individuals, making a somewhat believable atmosphere of what would happen if something similar occurred in real life.  read more

Main characters have similar ideologies. They also end up in a situation where a girl helps them. THe manga/light novel is not over yet so cant say much but it may end up similar so yea..  

Both of these shows are 'different' dramas from the norm. Oregairu is literally just a classic and actually not subversive, just very blunt about its tropes. Jaku-Chara IS actually subversive, because the first 3 episodes make out the series to be a MPDG harem, but it actually turns into an interesting game of life where Tomozaki learns that there is 'no game' and he learns how to make friends (people do not just uwu fall in love with him, he actually learns something) while other characters actually have their own motivations and develop as well. Not to throw any shade, but anyone who likes Oregairu or any harems and romcoms, but hates Jaku-Chara Tomozaki definitely needs to rewatch because Hachiman, Tomozaki, and every other pathetic incel male character literally start out the same. Both shows are definitely flawed with below average art and also purposeless fanservice pandering but I can definitely say both are misunderstood for different reasons. read more 

This is like an alternate route to oregairu, if yukinon's character were different, how would hachiman's life change. Also many characters resemble to that from oregairu like Shuuji(Hayama), Takei(Tobe), Yuigahama(Izumi), Fuuka Kikuchi(if Totsuka was a girl, then totsuka would be hachiman's first choice indeed), Erika Konno(If Umiko was rejected). So characters feel right at home. Animation is great and it serves as a good guide for self-improvement. 

in both series the main character is initially antisocial, and is not good at interacting with people, but through their interactions are able to develop and impact the people around them. the main theme and conflict is about how the characters act and see the world, between deciding to be their genuine, true selves or to instead maintain a mask and constantly play a "perfect" character.  

There's nothing to say much. If you liked one of these, you will definitely think of the other as you watch. The complications in social relationships for a complete loner are depicted very similarly in both of these anime. The only difference is in the stages.  

Both got an introvert mc who don't like people because he's different. Both anime involve great analytics of social behavior, and the openness of the mc. 

Even if you are rock bottom, there is only one way to go. Bottom-Tier and Horimiya both follow protagonists who are very much at the bottom of the school ladder but find themselves building interesting friends with those who don't seem as bad as you'd think they may be. Bottom-Tier's twist on that matter stems from Tomozaki being this fun "game of life" in improving his social status. Horimiya is a simple love story, knowing nothing but growth. Both are good anime for those interested in how one would operate realistically in the situations they are placed under. Either that or they are just good rom-coms I would suggest you try out.  read more 

These two are both series where a male classmate and a female classmate who are completely different in terms of personality coincidently meet up and learn more about the other individual. From there, the lives of both characters are never the same 

Both are about a guy who at first becomes antisocial and after certain events become "popular." They are both romance anime. The characters are very well developed and with good evolution throughout the plot arcs.  

In both series, the the f-mc is popular in school whilst the m-mc is considered a loner, gloomy, etc. Both series involve where the f-mc helps the m-mc, and the m-mc becomes more sociable in school. The m-mc in both series, eventually joins the f-mc friend group. In Jaku-Chara, the f-mc helps the m-mc in a more direct way, whilst the f-mc in Horimiya helps the m-mc more indirectly (by being there for him as a friend) Horimiya is more focused on romance, whereas Jaku-Chara is more focused on the gaming aspect. Both have a slice-of-life feel to it, and are easy shows to watch 

These two are really similar by the fact when the main character is evolving from being the type of guy that isn't talking to anybody and has no social life to having a group of friends and especially a girl that helps him to "grow". In others aspects, without giving spoilers, Horimiya is different. 

Both are a high school romance series with a popular female lead and a male mc who was deemed as a "social outcast". 

Protagonist is coached by female counterpart on how to be a regular member of society, both dealing with their own issues. 

Both series involve a maladjusted main character who attempt to adjust and integrate into normal society. Both series involve a girl who pushes their own view on what they believe a “typical” person to be onto the MC. While Welcome to the NHK takes a more psychological and haunting approach, dealing with themes such as mental illness, hyper-fixation, and delusion, Bottom Tier Character deals with themes of breaking out of your shell, learning social skills, and how to effectively communicate with others. 

Both anime focus on a main character who is an outcast and does not fit in with people or society. Each of these characters quickly meet a female lead character who is determined to help them improve their lives and fit back into society as a normal person.  

Both stories begin with a male protagonist who has no interest in the world and is in a state of loneliness. They also both meet a girl who wants to change their lives and the way they see the world.  

Manipulation. Bottom-Tier and School Days may not seem particularly similar, but they play the same cards, just presented differently. In both, there is a manipulative girl who bends the male MC to what she believes is best, almost to the point of controlling their life. You can also see how Tomozaki and Makoto grow relationships with females to some ridiculous degree from how they first start out. School Days is more dramatic in this case than the light-hearted comedy Bottom-Tier. School Days is incredibly polarizing, being a hit or miss depending on who you are. Bottom-Tier is generally more liked and fun to watch in my opinion.  read more 

Yes this weird, but I’ll say it regardless. Im also surprised no-one has spotted this yet, but my Sixth Sense keeps nagging me about the similarities between these two anime. I mean, the plots involve the MC getting a girlfriend with the help of another girl with the plots ‘developing’ from that point on. Simply put if you were disappointed by this seasons Bottom Tier Tomozaki’s horrible attempt at a highschool romance drama and wanted some ‘real’ development, School Days is the perfect anime for you.  

Similarities: -Loser guy meeting hot girl. - same slice of life, Romance and comedy genre. dissimilarities: -Girl in 3D act like a lover , while in Jaku-Chara the girl is more like a life coach to the guy. -Guy in 3D doesn't make any improvement with his life, while the guy in Jaku-Chara slowly make his way of being a normie.  

Both is an otaku who was helped by a girl to gain confidence 

It is hard to point out exact similarities between both Bottom-Tier and OreSuki, though create multiple relationships with many different girls and that whole spin on life for that one dude no one really cares about until the main girl shows up. If nothing else, both do seem to know how to poke fun at the generic "cool kids" culture and anime tropes that keep spawning with no end. Both are fun to watch, though OreSuki might be ever so slightly tormenting to watch due to ecchi and borderline harem one may dislike, compared to Bottom-Tier, only negative with it is its "cringe". They are both still overall quite something I would add to my list of anime, you may too.  read more

I never check which studio makes whatever show, but the character design and animation of Tsurekano just screamed at me of Jaku-Chara Tomozaki-kun. And then I checked just in case to find out it was made by the same studio - Project No. 9 Both stories are based in LNs, which is very self-evident from the first couple of episodes. You simply do not have this type of complex monologue and dialog in manga. Mind you, it's not a "fun" story in the sense of lightheadedness that often characterizes manga, but it's very enjoyable on other levels. Ones of morals, difficult personalities, etc... I personally really enjoyed Jaku-Chara Tomozaki-kun and wanted to see a similar story, so Tsurekano fit that bill perfectly. read more 

These both series has shown me hidden side of the world. I knew both of them from light novels and I´m happy how their anime came out. These both show hidden side of human relationship. At least I didn´t know before I read them. I came to look back to my past and now I know what happened back then. I don´t know if I was an idiot or wasn´t I interested enough to find out no matter what. 29 to JK is another series which I would recomment to those how liked bothof these series. I´m looking forward to this anime since these two were adapted. read more
