Almost the same exact story. The only real difference is that the main character is a guy in Kyou kara Maou and a girl in Juuni Kokuki. If you loved one then you'll surly love the other.

these two are similarly enjoyable to watch, they both have: love, magic, another world, fighting, humor etc

Does this website remind anyone of facebook or is it just me? Anyways... If you like the reverse harem thing and you wouldn't mind it so much if Haruhi were actually a boy...I guess this series would be for you. This series doesn't quite reach Ouran's height in brilliant characterizations or comedic wit but it does have its charms.

There's that one boy who until recently has been living a normal life, but is suddenly teleportated into another world. At first everything is messed up, but after awhile he gets used to the new life. The thing is that apparently he is the chosen one to get rid of the evil that's hiding in the shadows. But all is well when it ends well! In both Kyo Kara Maoh! and Amatsuki we see the development of the lead male characters who are destined to bring peace and prosperity to the other world they suddenly appear in.

boy gets sucked into another world full of magical things, both anime is a good comedy

both main leads have the occupation of future demon king but kyou kara maou has the shounen ai tones while Ichiban Ushiro no Daimou has the Harem tones

Both about magic world & power, and both are similar humours. And graphism are too great .

Cure and funny, KKM is much lighter, while JR is much straight forward about the relationships between characters
report Recommended by as3
Both stories are shojo-ish adventures with a magical/historical feel to both and the main character receiving lots of attention from other beautiful people.

Similar characters and their relationship, for example Conrad is similar to Sousuke. The main character's team is made only of bishonens, both anime have an interesting fantasy world setting, both have many comedy and drama.

I've only watched episode 1 of DT so this is what I can say so far: somewhat similar art style Same type of world/kingdom with fighting, magic and flying creatures. The main characters are somewhat similar The main characters ends up in another world in a really weird way and both animes have a little of "crossdressing" too

Yuuri was a normal high school student until he is transported to another world after an unpleasant encounter with some bullies and water. Arata wanted to disappear after feeling down while Yuuri did not, but they were both in for a surprise. Yuuri is an easy to like character, his personality makes Kyo kara Maou! a fun and exciting adventure to watch! Arata is a character with whom one may be able to relate to because we all feel like that at times and/or have had similar problems.

Makes me laugh at the odd situations both protagonists get themselves into.

Tsuan and Yuuri do act alike and do have a hidden powers !

Both animes taking away the main boy character to a different world.

The main characters both have special abilities and so does their companions. Both boys are also very mercifull and kind. There are also alot of other similarities, but people get annoyed when I meantion spoilers, so you'll have to trust me here =)

From the characters to the setting both series seem similar. Though they do have their differences they both seem to have a paralleled balance of comedy and action.

In both series the main character is surrounded by good-looking guys that want to protect him because he's important.
report Recommended by Canal
In both the series the MC is surrounded by bishies who care about them and want to protect them. Both the MCs are head strong and stubborn, when they decide on doing something they won't back down no matter what. Li Leng is very similar to Conrad and both even have the same seiyuu. The difference is that kyo kara maoh mainly focuses on comedy while hanasakeru seishounen is more of romance, another would be that the MC in KKM is male and the one in HS is female.
report Recommended by Maou_heika
they both involve the demon world and both are known greatly for their war tactics(in kyou kara maoh its his water majic skills, in samurai deeper kyo its his samuria skills.)
report Recommended by katlee8225
Both series involve the MC going back in time becoming a historical / high power figure. Both MCs have a side to themselves that appears when they need help, with Concerto's MC having a twin and Kyou Kara's MC having a different persona within. Both MCs have a lot of followers and other powerful companions that assist them with their rise to power. Both series have fantasy, comedy, adventure, and action elements.

Both are grat shojo anime with supernatural, the main characte's Yuuri and Natsume, both kind and naive ordinary students - when they got a supernatural power they use it to help others & become friends with them, sometimes succeeding and sometimes attracting uttention from dangerous characters that want to use them. Both anime have a calm & peaceful atmosphere that makes you want more seasons.

Both of the main characters get sent into a different world and go on lots of adventures.
report Recommended by PandaLovingTaco
-Both Main characters came from another modern world into a magical one and their magic abilities are almost insanely overpowered. -Both have a nice bromance & romance vibe although KKM can be more yaoi lol -I liked that both anime has characters that are very upfront about their feelings/love and marriage. It doesn't take long for them to realize their feelings for each other, unlike some animes that totally stretch the tsunderes and dragged on relationships to prolong the plot.

Similar fantasy universe with magic, dragons, mazoku and heroes. They are both comedy adventures, but Kyou Kara Maou is more for female audience while Slayers is more for male audience.
report Recommended by Narushisto
Both have world settings that ivolve the main character into politics and supernatural, lots of unique characters, shonen ai fanservice, both have an interesting meaninful plot.
report Recommended by Narushisto
Both are fantsy anime that are not only about sword fighting, have a really interesting meaningful plot AND lots of humor, also politics with preventing wars and a black-haired strategist with glasses as one of the main characters.

surrounding by good looking people, a lot of comedy, really love it!!!

The two have a lord or king premise. Where they are "royalty" or leaders. They have good storyline and plot. Both main characters fight with their soldiers. Good balance of action and calm times. Fun to watch as the two kings/princes develop and climb to the top. Making a name for themselves.

Both the Protagonists travel to an alternate universe. While one helps a girl to become the ruler, the other gets trained to become a ruler. While one of them can reset time and change the events to alter the results, the other has special powers which get summoned on certain occasions to help him in difficult situations. 'Re:Zero Kara' has finished only 13 episodes and is filled with lot of content, suspense and thrill. As 'Kyou kara' has lot more episodes the thrill one finds initially would not last too long. 'Re:Zero Kara' is latest and was made according to the tastes of the viewers of the current  read more

Generally good watch, and uses the same world hopping (Earth to Isekai and back). Via the world hopping the show explores both worlds fairly ok. If you enjoy that specific aspect of Cheat Skill Level Up Isekai then you may also enjoy Kyou and its an ok time sink overall. Be warned the show is a bit dated so many of the tropes / jokes may be less funny or seem unoriginal. Also there is a sort of BL dynamic in Kyou from one of the main side characters (albeit onesided).
report Recommended by crematoriums
Isekai'd MC with parents from isekai, the relationship between mc and his 'retainers', the running references to samurai age. Kyou kara maou's mc is somewhat more childish than tsuki michi mc. They both fun to watch and has very nice world-building.

both about has a main lead that goes on "adventures" trying to solve a mystery/find out the truth with an entourage of friends. Both good and enjoyable for all adventure fantasy mystery lovers.

It's not as super "fighting and blood-spraying." I'd say it's more of the funny, has a group of grown to love friends like Gon, Killua, Kurapika, and Leorio. The main character Yuri reminds me similar to Gon, however, he's more serious and actually knows what the heck he's doing. Then, there's a character named Wolfram who actually sounds like Killua (though different voice actors) and is cute tsundere and is really cute like Killua. He's more willing to express the bashful things though. It's a long journey like Hunter x Hunter but each episode is fun to watch and can be an emotional roller coaster,  read more

Lots of bishonen and with a lot of shounen-ai hints in both of the anime.Besides, both also about demons and power with the main protagonists often being protected.

An ordinary boy ends up in the demon world, and ends up as Demon King. And oh becomes good friends with a fire demon who he defeats in a duel. It's also very comedic.
report Recommended by aella_antiope
The main characters are 15 year old boys who are unwillingly brought into a fight between humans and demons. They both also start of trying to hide the fact they are demons from the humans they meet which proves to be difficult.

Similarities -Demons and humans -Main character is assigned a great responsibility from demon world -Comedies with serious arcs -Main character is a high school boy -Main characters have sidekicks that never fail to amuse Differences -Kyou kara maou has multiple male friendships that hint of romantic intentions -Beelzebub has a few one-sided romances -Beelzebub takes place mostly in the human world, Kyou kara maou takes place mostly in the demon world which archaic compared to the modern human world of both shows -The main characters have very different personalities. While these shows may seem rather different at first, they do have some very important similarities. I often recommend Kyou Kara Maou to friends of mine who are just starting to explore shonen-ai and find that it is a good way to ease them into the genre. Gravitation is an example of a show they might like to watch afterwards if they liked the relationship between the king and Wolfram. There are some similarities between the main couples in both these shows, though Gravitation is obviously more focused on romance. I feel that Kyou Kara Maou is quite possibly the most underrated anime that I have  read more

Both have black-haired demon kings as the lead, both with an axious, devoted silver-haired attendant. Both stories explore the conflicts between demons and humans. Both have a solid grasp of humor and story moving the plot forward. Both have exclamation points in the title. Eeeeey? Kyou Kara Maou! begins when normal Japanese boy Yuuri Shibuya is flushed down a toilet (yes, literally) and is transported to a fantasy land filled with 'costumed' citizens who speak a strange language he can't understand at first, is determined to be the next Demon King, and is put in charge of a massive feud between his people the demons and  read more

there both Shoujo anime with a male lead and hints of yaoi they have a fantasy/magic story line were the main charecter has an ordinary life until events change there life

Yuri and Lelouch are complete opposites, but both are excellent, epic stories that deal with extraordinary powers, the paths of war, royalty, discrimination, relationships and so on. CG is basically a much darker version of KKM, minus the shonen-ai themes of KKM.
report Recommended by as3
Both protagonists are naive, well-meaning people who by chance end up engaged to a member of the same-sex due to long-held tradition which somehow end up in a duel in both titles. Both seem unimpressed by unfair traditions. Both show strong friendship with their engaged but seem averse to attributing a romantic context to their relationship. Both deal with aristocracy, fighting against abuse of power, and the royal uniform of one of the protagonists is rather similar to the dueling uniform of the other.

Traveling through time and space via pools of water? Check. Main character experiencing a strange new land? Check. Hints of BL? Check.

They are both comedies and use both of their "yaoi" and "yuri" and dramatize them to such a great degree, that it's plain hilarious. Although, Maria†Holic can be said to be more of an anime that has a sadistic-like humor. >> If your looking for something that's somewhat lighter in sadistic-ness and is funnier, but still like Maria†Holic, than I'd say that you should try watching Kyou Kara Maoh!
report Recommended by AuroraStar
Both shows have a bit of a historical, royalty feel to them. They both are amusingly light and have similarly-memorable characters.
report Recommended by as3
A character thrown into a different world full of magic, gets involved with royalty, has love interests, fights + some humor - that's what you get in these two series.
report Recommended by as3
A bunch of bishies trying to save their countries. It got the same European theme, kingdoms, swords. Even though Kyo Kara Maouh! Way funnier than Meine Liebe, the general ideas are the same.
report Recommended by Titan-Kikumaru
Demons are fighting for the good in both stories. CC is much darker, while KKM is more humorously-light, but you will definitely enjoy both
report Recommended by as3
The stories are different in these, but thy are both funny and pleasant to watch, with characters you really grow to love and identify with. . .
report Recommended by as3
Again, the stories are different, and GA is a little more shojo-ish/innocent, but both are about a character who just might bring peace to a place of magic and war
report Recommended by as3
You had a similar mix of drama and comedy, with definite shounen-ai aspects or light yaoi suggestiveness of same sex interaction even though in PS it's a fade to black situation or in KKM it is just suggestion of possible relationships. I found them both LOL funny at times.

both high schooler sucked into another work in high standing in new world Fushigi yuugi has girls as main characters and Kyou Kara Maou has boys as main characters

they both start of with a normal guys, then after certain events the guys life changes ( adding magic and a fantasy theme) there also have faithfullness between freinds as a theme

Though the personalities of both main characters are different, as is the basic setting of the show, Naruto and Yuuri one important trait: an infectious and deliberate innocence. Both characters appear dense to the point of folly sometimes and ultimately gather friends around them who are willing to protect them from their own blind spots. However, as they grow and mature they both choose to ebrace their own innocence rather than becoming wiser and more jaded. It is their choice to take the hurt and pain of betrayal and ridicule rather than to embrace resentment, hate, or power that makes  read more

Normal boy transported to an alternate fantasy world where he has to deal with warring factions.

Both have similar themes and kinda had the same feel while watching them. Both are set it a fantasy and kind of feudal world where wars are being waged. Both have the main group of people being lead by the newcomer to the world/village. They have the serious battles but still have comedy thrown in there. Kyou Kara Maou isn't much of a harem though and has a bit of shounen ai in it.

Well they both have people traveling to another world they also have the whole war thing which involves humans against demon/evil ghost

A normal schoolboy is soon wrapped up in a bizzare reality where he is actually something special. Both have a strong storyline and developing characters whilst not being too serious; incorporating a lot of comedy.
report Recommended by Gleam_Queen
I dont know but when i was watching this anime it suddenly reminded me of this. It may be because it has something to do with being the head of a clan. In Kyou Kara Maou! yuri is the King of the Mazoku whilst in Onmyou tai senki Riku is the head of the Ten-Ryuu.

Kyou kara Maou! is about a boy crossing from the human world to become the demon king in another world and Akatsuki no Yona is about a girl losing her kingdom and going on a journey. The similarties in both shows are they have mostly a male cast of characters both deal with betrayal and building friendships, Both contain comedy and a lot of fighting. The lead characters are naive in the beginning of the story but become wiser and skilled fighters.
